    The Supreme Court overturned Roe vs Wade today( June 24, 2022), by saying “The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives. Pp. 8-79.”

      As it should've been. The duty of the Supreme Court is to interpret the constitution, and there's simply put, nothing in the constitution regarding abortion. Thus, it was never a federal issue, and was always a state issue, yet an incorrect Supreme Court ruling, even according to RBG, has had catastrophic consequences on our population and labor replacement rates.

    "Meanwhile, the United States has, overall, more permissive abortion laws than almost anywhere else in the world. @@ShadowKari Which valid points are you suggesting there are to deny essential miscarriage and ectopic care exactly? Quite frankly, it just sounds like you're just randomly upset about abortion because you're under the impression the only people who get abortions are irresponsible party girls. The reality is, that most abortions are had in emergency health situations. A significant number are had by married, responsible women with children. I am one of those women.
      I have a child, and I also had a miscarriage. If it weren't for the abortion I got after my miscarriage, the dead fetal tissue rotting inside my body would have caused me to go into sepsis and I would have died. So when you say leave it to the grown-ups, it just sounds like you're the one who hasn't had enough life experiences to understand what it means when you hear people say "abortion is healthcare."
      1 in 8 pregnancies ends in miscarriage, and there are 100,000 ectopic pregnancies annually in the US. What about a total ban on abortions don't you understand? Abortion is literally how modern medicine rids a woman's body of a dead fetus regardless of how it dies, and whether or not that death was intentional. Abortion is not just for 20-year-old "sluts."
      If you still don't understand any of that, maybe the only way you will is if you or one of your married friends or family members needs emergency abortion care but can't get it and have to be airlifted to another state while your family prays you don't die before you get there.

    • @yeahaboutthatthough3656
      @yeahaboutthatthough3656 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maritimesteak8540 That is factually inaccurate. Saving the mom's life is not, a "minority" of cases because, 1 in 8 pregnancies end in miscarriage, and the way miscarriage is handled is with an abortion. Didn't realize that, huh...
      There are about 850,000 US pregnancies per year in the US, and just over 1,000,000 of those end in miscarriage. This is probably news to you, but abortions are how doctors rid the body of that dead fetal tissue. A total ban on abortion does not just affect "special cases," it literally affects over 1 million women who miscarried. Every year in the US 1 million women show up at a hospital with a dead baby inside of them that they need medically or surgically removed so they don't go into sepsis and die. That process is AN ABORTION. Shocking. I know.
      Now, you can go ahead and rid yourself of the ridiculous idea that most abortions are had by 20-year-olds sluts who spread their legs for everyone else but you. Abortion is healthcare.

    POV: men can have babies and women couldn't.
    Women would get gas chambered if they tried to control men's pregnancies.
    People who think it's murder need to reflect a bit harder.
    As a child who has been in the foster system with mentally ill biological parents, I no longer feel as though I was better off not being born. I only came to that conclusion because I had strength to rise up and make a better life for myself. Not all children are that lucky. Having the hardest punches thrown at you the moment you are born can DEFINITELY have you stuck in a complex reality/mindset. It can have you turn to the worst things possible and/or could make those terrible things find you without looking. Then you could grow up to become what scares you people. "Oh my neighborhoods not the same" "Why are there homeless people everywhere" "Look at these people who are making my country shit"
    You are the same people that have power and funding to manifest organizations that can help unwanted children. Better quality foster care, free effective sex education for ADULTS (they really need that shit to exist), vetting for foster parents or care takers, better living, a higher rate of older children getting adopted, etc etc etc.
    Yet we are here.

      Sure but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The right to reasonable privacy is a federal right. The supremacy clause makes it clear that federal law supersedes state laws in every instance.
      In this case the right to make medical decisions freely without the apparatus of the state was the issue being argued. The only reason Roe is now being contested is because the issue has gone from one about privacy rights to one about religious values. Abortion is just a medical procedure before viability plain and simple because the fetus does not have personhood. SCOTUS affirmed this in Casey. Now abortion is seen as supposed slaughtering of a “person”.
      Post-viability becomes another issue which SCOTUS has relegated to the states.

If that happens, “the views of [an individual State’s] citizens” will not matter. The challenge for a woman will be to finance a trip not to New York or California but to Toronto." - Kagan, dissenting

      Ab0rti0n will be left up to individual states. Individual states will get to decide if they will allow ab0rti0n and each state will decide the criteria. For example, one state may allow abortion up to 6 weeks of pregnancy, but another state may allow you to be as far along as 11 weeks. Conservative states may only allow ab0rti0n in cases where the life of the mother is in danger or if a woman has been rap3d. To have an ab0rti0n for other reasons, that do not include the life of the mother being in jeopardy, the woman would have to cross state lines, travel to another state to be allowed to get an ab0rti0n for convenience, rather than to save her life. For this, she will have to travel to a more liberal state. Women will still be allowed to have ab0rti0ns, but it will take a lot more work and planning to get it accomplished.

    • @robertjack4329
      @robertjack4329 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What it means is that states will not be forced to allow women to use abortion as a method of birth control and (in some cases) pass the expense on to the tax payers. This is an attempt for Democrats to get public opinion against conservatives as teh next election is not looking good for them. I highly doubt it will pass.
      Under RvW abortion itself was never an "absolute right". It was a type of "right to privacy" tied to the 14th amendment. RvW forbids a state from preventing abortions in the first trimester or where health concerns exist. This is not the same as abortion being a "right". For example, in the third trimester RvW declares a state cannot prevent a woman from having an abortion if she was certain to die. That is a far cry from having an abortion while dialating because it's your "right".
      No one is forcing raped girls to bear children. The only one's advocating such things are religous extremists in the far reaches of Islam and Christianity and only the most extreme forms of Sharia Law do we see this come to fruit. It's a non-issue and women have been doing that worldwide since well before RvW. Abortions from rape make up far less than 1% of all abortions. It's a fallacy to argue RvW is needed to protect raped women.

    Roughly 3% of the United States population are black women capable of pregnancy yet black Women make up 50% of all abortion cases each year Unpopular opinion Roe v. Wade being overturn was a major W for the African-American community

    • @alpbridges3553
      @alpbridges3553 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your statement is misleading and presents a false narrative. It is inaccurate to suggest that Black women make up 50% of all abortion cases each year. The Guttmacher Institute, a leading research and policy organization on reproductive health, states that "Black women have a higher abortion rate than other women, but they do not have the highest abortion rate overall." According to their research, the majority of abortion patients are white (39%) followed by Hispanic (25%) and Black women (24%).
      Furthermore, the suggestion that overturning Roe v Wade would be a "major W" for the African-American community is misguided. Access to safe and legal abortion services is a fundamental right that should not be restricted based on race or socioeconomic status. The ability to control one's own reproductive health is essential for the autonomy and well-being of all individuals, regardless of their race or ethnicity. Limiting access to abortion services disproportionately affects marginalized communities, including low-income individuals and people of colour.
      1) African American women experience disproportionately high rates of maternal mortality and morbidity compared to other racial and ethnic groups in the United States. Access to safe and legal abortion services can help to reduce the number of high-risk pregnancies and ultimately improve maternal health outcomes.
      2) Economic empowerment: Research has shown that access to safe and legal abortion services can have positive economic impacts for women and their families. For African American women, who experience higher rates of poverty and economic inequality, access to abortion services can be an important tool for economic empowerment and stability.
      Is that truly a W?

      @@9290SC “young life”…so like, idk if you realize this, but most abortions that are not life-threatening emergencies or due to fatal fetal abnormalities are performed before the fetus can survive outside of the womb. Basically, the fetus is a sort of parasite-it needs to live inside the womb for survival. Is a parasite that can’t survive outside of its host worth anything? I’d say no :P

    • @Mixinnitup
      @Mixinnitup 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think you VASTLY overestimate the amount of "late term abortions" done. Well over 90% of abortions are performed before the fetus would even be responsive to outside stimuli let alone any sort of thought or movement. It takes over 20 weeks before anything resembling sentience begins to form. You'll be happy to know that the vast majority of women who are pregnant for that long generally plan to keep the baby. Those that get abortions later usually do so from medical complications or from restrictive laws(...yeah) that prevetn them from getting one sooner. And in fact states banning abortion put women in these situations at extreme risk. Sorry...women and girls. Like the 11 year old in Ohio :/

      Fetuses are not aborted. Zygotes, morula, blastocysts, and embryos are aborted. None of the aforementioned have any brain whatsoever. Take a basic biology class and maybe consider graduating from grade school.

      I was once a fetus. But my parents had money, have white privilege, we’re accepted by society, not stereotyped. Not everybody has these things. Not everybody is “lucky enough” to have what my parents had. If my parents had decided that my life was going to be shit, and they were unable to have money for me, unable to have food for me, unable to give me basic human necessities. Ya, I would respect that over, having a shitty life-having my parents work so hard for me just to end my life myself.
      Also based on your comment, I can’t tell you don’t have a uterus, so maybe instead of trying to get people to make you feel better about yourself hating on other people, be vulnerable and have a conversation about how a simple procedure can save somebodies life.
