- I picked this up at a moving sale in town because I noticed in the ad there was a 1950's drill included. Once I got it home I was in for quite a surprise by how valuable some of the contents actually were. Let's get busy! #toolbox #stanley #craftsman #snapon #craftsmantools #snapontools #estatesalefinds #yardsale #toolboxhaul

That was a great tool haul really looking forward to seeing the drills restored.
Really entertaining
Thank you
Thanks! I restored one of the two older drills today so that video should be up soon. i was able to confirm that they are Approximately 1953 Black and Decker Model 457s. Really well built old tools.
You did have a great tool haul.
Thanks! I almost passed it up because I knew the box wasn't worth much but fortunately the old drill pulled me in.
Great haul! I bet those Stanley tools came with the tool box as a type of promotion. I had a Kawasaki cordless screwdriver years ago and used it for many years till the battery would no longer hold a charge. Thanks for the video
Thanks! That's a good point. Those screwdrivers may have actually come with the box. Some of them at least.
Glad to see the cats continue to keep you supervised!
Yes! I have to maintain the herd. 😺
He told you they were duplicates, I bet someone with a little knowledge went through that before you did. That being said, that is NICE haul!!
I noticed that he had a nice old Matco box in his garage. My guess is that he transferred the tools he didn't want from that one, but that he also didn't know much about any of this and didn't want to let on. :)
I came across your video by accident (I’m in the UK).
The ‘Superslim’ is by Williams of Birmingham (the original city in UK!!).
The early drills (you have two) are almost identical to a Black and Decker ‘Holgun’ semi industrial 240V drill I have with a 3/8” Jacobs chuck. Mine is hardly used and was made about 1968 in the UK and does not have what appears to be removable brush covers like yours have. It has a metal sprung ‘pin’ at the base of the handle to lock the trigger switch ‘on’.
Hope this is helpful.
👍🇬🇧👍🇺🇸👍
Hello for the colonies! Thanks so much for the info. You have to wonder the journey that Superslim has been on. I did some research and Black and Decker drills and these types of drills were manufactured from the early 1950's into the 1970's with minor changes. The two removable plates are seen in the 1953 catalog so I'm guessing that's about the age.
@@floridarusticrepairs You are welcome.
My initial guess is that the old drills are Black & Decker. Many decades ago they made some decent tools.
Correct! I was able to find an image of one and it had the Black and Decker tag. I think they're 1950's.
@@floridarusticrepairs My 'expertise' on the subject was greatly enhanced by the presence of one of these drills in my basement with the B&D badge still attached. 😉😉 Unlike yours, which were made in Maryland, mine was assembled in Brockville, Ontario in a plant that was 'free-traded' to oblivion decades ago. 🤨
@@rightlanehog3151 Do you still use it? I think these old Black and Decker drills were great.
@@floridarusticrepairs I occasionally try to use all the old tools in my collection.
@@rightlanehog3151 I have a few go to sets for when things get serious like my 1983 Craftsman socket set but like you, I do swap out a lot just for the novelty of using them. A lot of these tool hauls I get go to sets of people who are just learning how to use them so hopefully they'll be well cared for.
Definitely a great haul.
Thanks! I went for the old drill but was rewarded with all of the Snap On sockets.
Just discovered your channel, great video! The only thing that bugs me is we didn't get to see the evapo rust results the next day☹️. Besides that 👏
Thanks! I've shown it in several other videos and I honestly think I forgot to film it the next day because I didn't expect to include that part. When I used a wire brush from this batch while restoring a Dunlap Drill Press I remembered how well the Evaporust had worked so I looked to see what footage I had actually shot when I edited this one. I'll make it a habit to show the end results. Sometimes that stuff works wonders.
Wow, 8 point Snap-On sockets! Very cool. Those sockets with the screwdriver end are for steering linkages on old Chevys and maybe other older cars. They are very useful. That wire holder is awesome. Some of those missing metric sockets can be interchanged with SAE, so they are sometimes not provided in a set. 14 MM is 9/16 for example.
Thanks! The wire holder looks like the sort of thing I'd see on the manufacturing floor back in the 1980's. The 8 points are the jewel of this find.
Westline was Western Auto's house brand.
Thanks for the info! I'll put it with the few Wizard tools I've collected over the years.
8 point sockets only work on square nuts not used on automotive, look closer at your Snap-on.
Yes, square nuts and also some old tractors had square bolts. Not much use today but still rare. Thanks!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Kawasaki drill!
I never knew they made such a thing either. It does work.
I have a few Brazil's there made in China
That's hilarious! I just figured they were made in Brazil. 🤣
There's good Stanley and bad Stanley knock offs
Any tips on how to tell the difference? Some of these looked decent.

Most new Stanley stuff is made in China.
