- This is the oldest drill I've worked on so far and it's a monster. Enough power to snap your wrist and louder than a vacuum cleaner. Made during the Great Depression here in the United States and built to last 100 years. We're going to make sure it sees that anniversary. Let's get busy! #drillrepair #antiquetools #rebuild #electricdrill

Nice job. These drill are so powerful that if not careful, they can break wrists. Well done.
Yes. Can you imagine using a hole saw and it binds u on you? This one takes a 3/4" pipe as a 2nd grip! I've only ever seen 1/2" pipe threads on heavy drills. Makes you wonder why they thought 1/2" may not be sufficient for this one :)
Great old drill. I'm not big on the blue but that's a matter of personal choice. I am glad that you put the side handle on it. About 50 years ago I was using a similar drill without the side handle and my wrist hurt for a week or more. Those drills are especially good for drilling concrete or masonry.
Ouch! Yes, it's slow RPMs but the torque will get you.
Love your channel, you’ve sparked my interest in the old electric drills and tool chests, going to pick up a Beach tool chest tomorrow
Oh cool! I've never seen a Beach. i have an SK branded box which looks similar to those. Good luck!
I wonder if the front piece on the drill is perhaps a replacement? It certainly does
not seem like its original and perhaps it came from another model but was close
enough that it would fit.?
Yes, I wondered the same thing. It looks awkward but fits perfectly.
Nice job Matt! The only thing is think is maybe the blue should have been flat paint.
Thanks! Good point. Flat or Matte would have looked better.
Hey, I have the same drill hanging in my shop. Other than a dry bearing, it works like new.
Wow! That's awesome that you still use it.
Nice job getting it done. Looks great but it would have look also not painted.
Thanks! I think it's about 50% on each side regarding the paint. I kind of figured some people would prefer the natural look. :)
Looks great! I think the blue was a nice touch.
Thanks! This drill had paint residue on it. Some grey, red and blue. Without a period photo of what these actually looked like, I felt i could gamble and I agree that it does look better with it.
Real nice cleanup! 👍 I am the blue is a nice look.
Thanks! I prefer the blue myself but it does make me use it more carefully so as not to scratch it. :)
The only problem is finding vintage 1934 electricity to power it when the restoration is done . 😉
Maybe I can get some of that old flickering power in California? :)
@@floridarusticrepairs I have a solution, just crank up an old kerosene powered generator and Bob's your uncle. 🤣
@@rightlanehog3151 My friend Tyron uses that "Bob's Your Uncle" phrase. He's from South Africa but I think the origins are Irish, maybe?
@@floridarusticrepairs I have no idea here the expression originates but I am happy the drill was saved.
