Hey Sam, not sure you will see this considering you posted this 2 years ago now. But i'm heavily considering applying to become a PID. I'm located in vancouver bc, so that makes things so much easier. I know this trade is hard to get in to, so any insight or advice your willing to share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks sam!
In my opinion it’s the best trade in the Naval Reserves! It wasn’t too difficult to get in 6 years ago when I joined so definitely try! The travel and opportunities the trade gives you are next to no other!
@@ClearanceDiver You’re the man. I tried applying but the trade wasn’t showing up? I’m assuming its a very popular trade and maybe they’ve closed it off? How long did it take you to reach your OFP for the PID trade? Also, how long did it take you from BMQ to Trade training to reach completion? Thanks man!
@@ExtremeStuntMan100I’m not sure if they have or not. I’ve been out the trade for a few years now so aren’t tracking what’s happened. I was in Grade 11 when I joined so I did BMQ one summer and then did my dive course the next was OFP by the end of that summer
@@ClearanceDiver Thanks for all the information man! I'm going to go for it. Just curious how long was the trade training for PID? Was it full-time or part time training? What was the schedule like for that?
@@ExtremeStuntMan100the reserves has is part time with opportunities for full time contracts. The PID training is broken up into 3 courses which can be done in various summers if needed. One 6 week course, then a 3 week course followed by a 9 week course that can be broken up into two sections of you’re not available for that long. Outside of coursing my regular schedule was just Wednesday evening each week and one Saturday a month!
