Thank you for this very helpful video - succinct, straightforward and to the point. Can you tell me the title of the follow-up video you refer to? Having watched this one and used it to set up my CD Ripper Mk II with my SR35 I am keen to learn more.
The Astell&Kern DAP is what has the software to do the rip. The Ripper is just the mechanism to read the data from the disk. Thus, if you use the Ripper with a computer, for example, you'll have to use a software package to do the ripping.
Can you link two tracks together? Example: Judas Priest Screaming for Vengeance CD - The Hellion goes right into Electric Eye. I would like this to be one track so that they always play together.
Umm, been all over the Internet for this. Thx for the content. BTW, is there any performance/supportability=related differences between AK CD ripper gen 1 and gen 2?
The MK2 does have a major redesign for added weight and vibration dampening for faster and more accurate rips. The error correction algorithm is also updated for the MK2 design.
@@moon-audio Thx mate, but I have got a good deal of MK1 for just 150 including boxes, paper and shipping. MK2 is a bit over my reach. Hope my MK1 would serve me good. I also favor MK1 aesthetics. Hope they continue to update this ripper line.
Great video, I noticed in your video that you mentioned that you can also rip the CD to the SD Card, can this only be done with the latest AK Daps or can I do this with my AK 70 and 380 Copper? As I have the original CD Ripper and you could only rip to the players internal memory. Thanks in advance. Anthony
This is cool… but most CDs post 1994 are not audiphile friendly and has to be run through a “declipping” algo to undo some of the over compressed dynamic range from the loudness wars…
It only works this smoothly with AK DAPs as they were built to work together. That said it is possible to use it with other devices with a bit of additional work!
For the vast majority of CDs ripped using the CD ripper, it will bring in the album artwork. In the case of incredibly obscure albums, the album art might not be available in A&Ks database, and some CDs don't have the correct metadata to transfer over to the digital drive, so we don't want to guarantee all album art work. That said, in our experience, the CD Ripper MkII does a much better job with artwork than many off-the-shelf optical drives.
Awesome demo! Wish you guys would do one for the AK file drop function.
Coming soon!

This video is really helpful, thanks. Managed to get a A&K cd ripper from Japan, second hand, for £267...£120 less than new price!
What’s your recommendation on ripping HD tracks?
Wow, its amazing AK can ripping direct from cd. It is all AK dap could do direct rip?

Can I transfer files to MacBook or iPhone to listen to iTunes?!

this cd burner will work with my laptop too right? just straight burn the cd to itunes or something
It will work. The process won't be as plug-and-play as it is with an Astell&Kern DAP, but it is selectable on most PCs as a CD ripper. 🙂

what's the thing on the right? Your little tablet?
Hi Sammy, that's the Astell&Kern SE180 Music Player DAP: www.moon-audio.com/astell-kern-a-futura-se180-music-player.html
Thank you very much indeed
Can you use a flash drive
Does it work with any other CD-Ripper like the Apple SuperDrive?
Apple's SuperDrive will only work with Apple Products. Typical Apple play... So no, it won't work. 🙁
@@moon-audio Apple SuperDrive works with Windows...
Does the CD Ripper MKII, or my Kann Alpha use any compression algos for FLAC files?
You can choose either FLAC or WAV formats when ripping CDs.

Just taking an guess this ripper only works with AK Daps or it's capable of working with other devices?

Hi - is the album artwork guaranteed to appear using this ripper vs a standard optical drive?
For the vast majority of CDs ripped using the CD ripper, it will bring in the album artwork. It doesn't support SACDs - Audio CDs only.
