I remember watching METAL CHURCH live at Meekers landing in Kent WA. back in the early eighties, I'm 54 now and have forgotten alot of shit ! But I will never forget tat show !! I left that place a different person and haven't been the same since. !!! It was unexplainabley the most energizing, thrilling , exciting, super charged , life changing nights of my life. !! 40 years latter and I feel exactly the same way when I listen to 'em. ...!!!!! the guy with a giant mohawk making me tapes when i was discovering punk threw this on and i wished more metal bands were this good. deep purple was an rock band i forgot when i was a snotty punk...when i came back to them, i never thought the same of this track...one of the greatest covers/metal albums that shoulda been bigger than stupid metallica who covered plenty of songs, but not like this. sleepy blackmore always kinda bugged me.
Every time that I listen to this song I put some smile on my face because you know that they weren’t Deep Purple but even so they did a good cover saving the distances. The pace is a little bit faster and those SCREAMS ‼️‼️‼️top notch. Thank you 👍👍🎸🎸
Coming back to this I now notice how different the solo is. Listening to the original version, you might mistake the lead for Tyrant by Judas Priest... Or is it just me?
Sad cover, and it really brings down their debit album several notches. Imagine bands like the SEX PISTOLS or METALLICA releasing covers of this track on their debut album. It's not a good look, man, and it really speaks for the amount of talent this metal act had in the first place.
Any good metal band would rock that song , deep purple will live forever becuase of it ,,,,I've never heard a bad version of it ! Deep purple wrote their name in stone with that song for the world to hear and do what they want with it , kind of a miracle if you ask me , it's all good 👍
