Was with Lexus got bored out of my mind, went to BMW and didn’t lease I actually bought my M5. Lexus? Ehhh maybe when I’m like the average Lexus owner. A retiree.
Katsuyoshi Hironaka yes 80% of Lexus cars are very boring. I've driven the V10 m5, it's a piece of junk. The older gen m3 is much better. You probably never track your cars so you will probably think faster 0-60 and more HP is better. And you're right most Lexus drivers are over 60. But so are Corvette owners. If you want a fun drivers car you get cars like lotus or alpha romeo 4c. Those are good cars to drive , not terribly fast but very fun. You have to make compromises when you get a sports sedan like BMWs and Mercedes amgs. But they have their advantages too.
@@gustavmeyrink_2.0 seriously though, every TH-camr who has reviewed that car has absolutely loved it. I think you are in the minority for thinking it's ugly. But you're entitled to your opinion...
I'm British and have always loved Aston Martin, but the lc looks more complete more expensive and more desirable than any other GT at the moment, so underrated and missed by the grand tour etc. I think the media are scared they might prefer it to ze germans etc. Even Aston is half German now??.
I bought a used one with 6000 miles to take advantage of the depreciation discount. Mine has a fixed carbon fiber spoiler, black exterior and interior, a glass sun roof, and the 21 inch wheels. Awesome car.
I don’t know why TH-cam recommended this video to me, but I watched the whole thing...what the hell, I have time under quarantine. I loved the car and the reviewer. And I loved that he showed patience to those bicyclists at 2:35. Well done sir. My favorite parts were “tunnel time” and “just bugger it”. Ha. The exhaust sounds fantastic.
Just bought one of these CPO, a 2019 Inspiration Series in yellow, & I'm naturally watching all the reviews on it while waiting for it to get shipped here. This video does by far the best job capturing the sound
You get a $300,000.00 dream machine for $100,000.00. That's my take. I own a 2018 InfraRed with Toasted Caramel LC500 and couldn't be more thrilled with this car. It's a steal at the price plus you get as a bonus Japanese (Lexus/Toyota) reliability. Everything about the car is beautifully thought out including the infotainment system which most people don't bother to learn. Opportunities, really good ones, don't come along too often in life but if you get the chance to purchase an LC500...do it! The German competition will only drain your bank account and you'll wonder soon enough how you got suckered into believing the hype. Own this car for just one week and you'll be so proud of yourself for having the good sense to buy it, it will change your whole outlook on life. Don't get me wrong. It's still a man-made object and things can go wrong but odds are you'll be driving this car past the dealership for quite some time. Unlike the German counterparts, you won't be waiting for the next part to break and wondering how many thousands of dollars it's going to cost you. Look at the car! Drive the car! You will want to own the car.....guaranteed!!!
One quick response. The Infotainment System is fine. Reviewers simply aren't familiar with it. You have more than one way to do things. Changing the radio station can be done using VOICE COMMAND. You simply press a button on the steering wheel and then tell "the car" what you want it to do. Change radio station. Text somebody. Make the seats hotter or colder. Set a GPS destination etc. etc. If you don't want to use the VOICE COMMAND feature than there are buttons, again on the steering wheel and on the center console to change radio stations, change modes such as AM, FM, CD, SXM etc., change "genres" such as country, rock, jazz etc., change volume, search for stations, repeat, shuffle and everything else. The Enform Infotainment is essentially there so you can set your preferences, of which you have a whole bunch of to choose from. The 2019 LC 500 comes with Apple Car Play and as of a few weeks ago, owners of the 2018 model year can get the Apple Car Play app from Lexus dealerships for $199.00 which I'm doing tomorrow. More stuff to learn!!!
louis lazarus I’ve got a 2018 LC500 - will he contacting my dealer to see if we can get the Apple Car Play app here - that one thing will make the car nearly perfect 👌🏻
Hi Jim, great review. I believe the car was a “standard” LC500 with the 21” rims which are now an option (along with the Mark Lev hifi and HUD) in the UK. The 21”s were not an option when launched. I drove a Sport+ for a day 18 months ago and couldn’t live with the ride quality on poor UK roads. I think they’ve improved the ride for the MY19 cars and I’d stick with the 20s in the UK. Also worth noting that this is one of the slowest deprecating cars currently on sale in theUK...
I drive a GS450h and I can say with confidence that not only does that 3.5l drivetrain go a lot faster than people expect (stick it in 1st at 30 and floor it, electric torque means it'll outrun the V8 to 60); but it's a hell of a lot more than 10mpg better than the V8. I did 280 miles on £25 of fuel last week, and nearly 40 miles was through the centre of London. Once it's warmed up that hybrid will do 45 mpg regardless of where you drive it- the V8 does 30 on the motorway or 4 in traffic. If money was no object, I'd have the V8 of course. I love it. Realistically though, I could actually justify buying and running a used LC500h in a few years.
I drove 3 LCs at a high performance driving event at Laguna Seca race track and I was hooked. You won't regret it my friend for driving dynamic and peace of mind that it won't be at the mechanics every other month needing major repairs. Now that it has Carplay and Android Auto it's a no brainer.
@@RW_CreativeMedia The LFA engine induction sounds aren't artificial either. They piped in sounds specifically tuned by Yamaha into three points in the cockpit.
@@ivangamer8022 You forget that Fiat makes that car... The Lexus will be able to output that 470hp consistently for at least a decade. I'd give the Alfa five years at most.
As a used Lexus owner I am very happy with mine. It might be CVT hybrid, but it is quick enough and it has stayed together very well for being 11 years old.
It blows my mind how every review for the LC500 is all praises yet, it does not sell well. This is going to be one of those cars that will be worth a nice chunk in a few years.
I own one the same color, with the Sport Package (four-wheel steerable etc.). I agree with your evaluation, it is honest. You get used to the infotainment system, after a while. With 4,200 km (2,600 miles) I paid 87,500 $ Canadian, or about 60,000 $ U.S. A bargin. Keep up the good show!
This is so funny because that exactly what I thought to myself after test driving the LC500 for the first time. It instantly reminded me my buddy’s 2007 DB9. Steering feel, ride, exhaust note - everything!
I saw one of these (hybrid version) in an ASDA car park, everyone that walked past was staring at it. It's definitely the best use of the spindle grill yet in a Lexus.
Hi JayEm - really like the way you split the screen showing the camera shots of yourself in the little box and the shots of the interior or road at the same time - just seems a bit more engaging than having either/or (a bit like Matt Farah's onetakes). Cheers- John
Another vote for Lexus customer service. I've had 3 Lexus cars over the past 10 years as my daily drivers and they have looked after me incredibly well.
Back for a 2nd watch one year later. Just came from the 600h L review. A rare spot and still absolutely gorgeous. I would also consider the 350h because the main reason to buy is its looks.
I’m back for a second watch also. This car is one of the best car ever made. I would love for have this and a 600hl. Diesel vehicles confirm to me why lexus is the best Japanese company
As an American, I am coming to your channel a bit late, but you are quickly becoming my favorite car reviewer. Also, as a LC 500 owner, I could not agree more with your review...the car is simply incredible. I have the 'performance package' (i.e. the UK's 'sport plus' trim level - rear wheel steer, carbon roof, speed actuated spoiler, etc.), and its performance/touring capabilities are epic. I took a road trip up the California coast (Highway 1) and the LC was in its zone...a car that I love to drive and loves to be driven! My only regret is that it looks like Lexus will not give us a F-version (LCF - high performance) of the LC. Just imagine the performance of this car with that V8 with a biturbo, or better yet, with the V10 from the LFA!
I agree...this car is amazing! I've had my 2018 for 3 months and I find myself wanting to drive it every chance I get. If you see a delivery sign on top of mine...its not because I'm hurting for money :)
There are people who love power and speed so much they really don't care if they spend more time at the "fix it shop" than on the road driving. Those are the same people who aren't concerned with the cost to purchase or the amount of gas they shove through the engine. To those people, sensibility be damned. I'm not one of those people. I looked and looked and looked at all kinds of cars in all kinds of price ranges. Believe it or not, I test drove more than 20 different cars and not one of them....not from Lamborghini to Porsche made my heart flutter. I looked closely at the fit and finish and was embarrassed for some of the manufacturers. I did research on reliability and not a single car passed the test. Then one day, right out of the blue, my wife and I were going out to eat at a nearby restaurant and I saw this MACHINE in the parking lot. It was the same exact machine in this video but it had a more natural tan interior. I did a double-double take and my knees buckled and down I went. I'm serious! After a few seconds down there on the ground and still in awe of this parked MACHINE, I slowly got up and looked ...no stared....at the car. Sometimes when you see an extremely beautiful woman who takes your breath away, you get this same feeling. I walked around the car a couple of times, stared into the driver's and passengers window and told my wife....this is what I've been looking for. It truly was love at first sight. With two weeks a 2018 Infra Red with Toasted Caramel Interior Lexus LC 500 was parked in my garage. It took me about a month or so to really become familiar with the Enform Infotainment System. I can tell anyone flat out, this is the most wonderful car ever produced. You really can't stop staring at it. When you drive it, it's a feeling like no other! This reviewer did a pretty good job with the video but you haven't lived until you've driven one of these machines. Don't think for one minute you're buying a race car. It isn't that. It is a well designed, magnificently put together and very comfortable tourer that is faster than you'll ever need and more fun to drive than anything else on the road today. And....here's the best part. Unlike those "other" cars that come from Germany, Italy and England you're not going to spend a gazillion dollars on parts and labor having to fix things that should never break. Lexus is a great company and they stand behind their product. Since their cars are so well designed and so well built, chances are all you'll ever have to do is change the oil, replace the fluids, buy new tires and all that normal stuff that goes along with owning a car. Your dash buttons won't melt in the sun. You won't pay $2500.00 for a water pump. You won't wait months for a part. You won't shake your head in disbelief how a company that makes such an expensive car makes cheap, crappy parts that are probably designed to fail. So, for what it's worth, the reviewer gets it IMHO. This car, quite possibly, is the best car ever made!
I got to drive these at the Lexus performance driving school. Amazing drive, downshifts are deep and let you know you're driving something special. Red is probably their model color, but I personally like the British green for this car.
Awesome vid. If there is other demand aside from myself, you should consider doing more driving/sound video snippets separated into their own videos, in addition to supporting these. I would love to watch/listen to that.
I don't want to buy one of these and I'll probably never be able to justify spending that kind of money on a car. I have no idea why this video was recommended by TH-cam but I watched the whole video and was captivated by the car and the reviewer. Subscribed.
Lovely car and if you add Apple CarPlay and Siri it really does make the infotainment more than good and the sound of the stereo is as good as any Naim or Bowers & Wilkins I’ve tried, very underrated car and with the extended warranty for 10 years if you service at Lexus, then it’s a no brainier and a bargain to boot second hand 🚙👍🏻
Your double blunder of talking about cars on TH-cam is our huge win. Easily one of the best car channels. I like this car but if I had the money I'd go for either the RC or LC.
Your videos remind me of the old Top Gear episodes in which you actually learnt about different cars instead of the "what can we set up as a hilarious accident" crap of recent years. Keep up the good work👍
I wasn't so sure I liked it either when I first saw one in the wild. But I was super intrigued. I got so into it that I bought one. One of my best car decisions ever. Cross shopped it with the 911, and this is the correct car for me now. 911 though, in the not so distant future, is my next ride (just not sure what trim, they have so many)
I have been looking for a replacement of my XK I have looked at Aston Benley and i cant find a bad report about the LC500 my local Dealership is shared with Aston and taking to the technicians and i ask there opinion and they just smile and say buy the Lexus with a ten year free warranty
I'm late to the party on this is one of my dream cars now I love astons but there's very few cars you can sit next to an Aston and I actually look at the Lexus more and sound and interior just finish it off you got to salute Lexus for this one, being as of saying this is a year late there's also the convertible version now which would please the Mrs if we won the lottery and my god you get closer to that beautiful sound👍
Lexus is a brand that highlights the hypocrisy of car enthusiasts. You'll often see people talk about wanting naturally aspirated cars, that are rear wheel drive and that can handle, yet when Lexus makes exactly that, everyone goes and raves about AWD Turbo BMW and Audi cars that are better suited on the highway than on country roads while totally ignoring what Lexus has given the world. People used to criticize Lexus for being bland (essentially looking like a German car), yet when they(Lexus) started designing their cars like Japanese cars, people complained about the cars not being consensual enough. Sorry Lexus, you're not Audi or BMW so Europeans will never care about you.
This so much. The most aggravating thing for me was the reception of the GSF. A truly wonderful car, but people compared it to cars that were 100-150hp more powerful and 30-40k$ more expensive, i.e. M5 and E63, while the real competition were the lesser models. And because of the power deficit, people ignored it despite the tech and driving dynamics.
@@camryt I think Chris Harris made a good review of the GS F, highlighting its handling and how its power is delivered more efficiently than an M5, making it more usable in every day life.
BMW 6 series coupe owner here, and I like this Lexus's naturally aspirated engine, interior and look. Maybe I'll get one of these but will change the rims.
The whole point here , is that the LC500 is pretty much the best built car you can buy , not only a Lexus but a show case for Lexus , Germans couldn’t dream of building a car specifically the engine as good as this Lexus . Fact . Stunning
Great review. Toyota spent so much time on this and the LFA and made amazing engine/chassis combinations. Why didn’t they do that with the Supra? Would have been epic.
Cost. Japanese manufacturers learnt thr hard way in the 90's that developing bespoke everything and hot cars is very expensive. Platform sharing gets everywhere.
Al Hemmings True... but in that case, I think I’d have skipped developing this car at all and would have spent on the mass market favorite Supra instead. They’d have had their super car (LFA) and their sports car. This one albeit beautiful and I’d love to have one, is kind of a weird inbetweener. Strange choice on where to spend. I’ve only seen one in the wild out here in Seattle (a place that is booming with luxury cars). Lexus actually could have partnered with BMW for this car instead on either the M5 or M6 platform. Lexus drivers would have not minded buying a BMW/Lexus in the same way that small JDM sports car fans didn’t mind buying a Toyota/Subaru. Heck, Impreza and Supra drivers show up at all the same car shows and even belong to the same car clubs. Z4/Supra drivers hardly even speak to one another lol. Miscalculation here.
Hi I have had Lexus cars for a number of years and the remote mouse is something that you don’t think about after a while . It does bother me that all reviewers that are not using this regularly slate it , have one for a month and then see how you feel , oh and if you just want to change the radio station try the steering wheel controls much safer way in any car !
You can say "it was really good performance, in it's day" for all sorts of cars, but an experiential design like the LC500 (and the LFA before it, or even the GR series now) is about more than bigger numbers. It's about actual ownership and enjoyment.
I am waiting for either the F version, or some aftermarket lightweight carbon fiber panels, to shave the weight a bit. This car is amazing, but if it can’t fight the GTR, then that’s a shame.
What region were you driving in? I live in Canada and have had many road trips in the U.S. This looks like my new favourite car. I have really enjoyed your Jaguar saloon videos!
😊 I clicked the bait, loved the intro, and ...its another great piece. Although I've never driven one I concur, the Lexus LC500 is really cool, however I imagine the want thing you mention is likely to gravitate wealthy buyers in the direction of Aston
More would be sold, certainly in the UK where only 44 were sold in 2022, if its 0-62 mph time was 4 seconds rather than 4.7. A fantastic looking car that needs more oomph
If I could afford one of these, I'd buy it without any hesitation. I believe this car will be durable and nearly trouble-free for at least 100k miles. I'm literally offended by the incredibly expensive junk peddled by other makers. It's just perverse when more expensive = more troublesome. If you GAVE me a Vantage, or ANY other 'premium' European GT car, I'd sell it, buy an LC500, and pocket the difference.
Why do you have to apologize for reviewing Japanese cars?? I think this car is amazing in every aspect and I haven't seen a review that said anything negative about it. It's absolutely gorgeous.
If I ever get the means to afford something at this price, I won't bother with a BMW or a Mercedes, I'd get myself one of these. Just to listen to that, also to be able to look at it when I want because it's drop dead gorgeous.

Daniel Rawlinson used to own a BMW 5 series. Will not get another BMW again.
The beige interior looks so luxurious!

How you like it after one year?
I just bought one on Monday, and it is all the dream car you said it is at a reasonable price. Cheers mate!
I saw one today in the dealership while having my humble ct200 serviced, it blew my mind ! I just need £86k now .
As an owner of a Mercedes S class Coupé which is turning into a money pit as it ages, I am seriously considering a Lexus LC for my next toy .
Better, more reliable, and half the price. And maintenance is a fraction of the price of an Aston lol. I love Lexus!

Awesome review. I love the Lexus V8s, got a LS460 with the 4.6, the soundtrack on the naturally aspirated V8 is just epic
These things are achingly gorgeous in the flesh. I seriously haven't seen such a beautiful car in person in quite some time.
The driving intro is, as you folks say, Brilliant!
This is so funny because that exactly what I thought to myself after test driving the LC500 for the first time. It instantly reminded me my buddy’s 2007 DB9. Steering feel, ride, exhaust note - everything!
The first 65 seconds of this video > every other car review video
I saw one of these (hybrid version)
in an ASDA car park, everyone that walked past was staring at it.
It's definitely the best use of the spindle grill yet in a Lexus.
The grill makes sense on the LC500 and it looks great. I don't really like the grill on any of the other models.
Onyx Black with White Leather for me...
I adore the LC500
I'd have the same interior, with dark blue if thats an option. Just have to rob a bank first however
I love this car. Sat in one at FOS last year and was blown away by the details.
Wow, you really outdid yourself with this one! First minute is pure carp0rn 👍👍

JayEmm on Cars For the NL you’d need to dig deep for one; hybrid is £ 105K; the V8 is £155K! That’s almost half of the car extra for the V8!
I would have loved to see an LC F
I agree...this car is amazing! I've had my 2018 for 3 months and I find myself wanting to drive it every chance I get. If you see a delivery sign on top of mine...its not because I'm hurting for money :)
That engine note is just so wholesome 😭😭 better than the current Aston/Mercedes engines
The beige interior is magnificent. Different tone and texture with layered materials 👌
It’s great to see a big dude like me driving the cars I’m looking to buy. Love the content!
This car, quite possibly, is the best car ever made!
ooh, the sounds this car makes are just wonderful!!! a great thing to hear in the morning!

And because of the power deficit, people ignored it despite the tech and driving dynamics.
i also have a big problem with those reviewers , who said a luxury car most necesseraly go very fast?!
@@camryt I think Chris Harris made a good review of the GS F, highlighting its handling and how its power is delivered more efficiently than an M5, making it more usable in every day life.
@@armink9686 he did infact. even Clarkson was possitive about that car. but no, it's got 150hp less than supposed competition, so it must be worse

Very confusing isn't it?
I agree hands down, this is the best car of the decade 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Damn this woman is drop dead gorgeous!
I own BMW now, owned Lexus before. One thing I can say is Lexus has the reliability absolutely.
Did you own GSF ? ISF ? RCF or LFA ? They have more then just then just liability
You can say "it was really good performance, in it's day" for all sorts of cars, but an experiential design like the LC500 (and the LFA before it, or even the GR series now) is about more than bigger numbers. It's about actual ownership and enjoyment.
If you love this car, wait for the LC-F. A lighter weight twin turbo V8. Should be awesome
But it might compromise a lot in luxury and comfort, and it'll be hella expensive. Guess we will wait and see.
The LC-F won't be a twin turbo V8. It will be a hybrid V8 with a powerful set of electric motors and 4WD
I am waiting for either the F version, or some aftermarket lightweight carbon fiber panels, to shave the weight a bit. This car is amazing, but if it can’t fight the GTR, then that’s a shame.
A1ex It has been confirmed by Lexus to be a twin turbo V8 with 600+ hp however it won’t be available for at least a few years

I just spotted one of these in the pub car park last night. The sound is very sweet.
