  • In this video I show you how to build the B6.2d gear diff. This same diff will work in any 6.1 and 6.2 series 2wd Team Associated car or truck.

What are the advantages of running a gear diff versus a ball diff? I have the B6.2D and I am torn between the ball diff and the gear diff for outdoor dirt track.

Outdoor dirt def would run a ball diff in your buggy. Car will accelerate faster and turn better in the dirt. Ball differentials will handle load differences better than a gear diff because of how load interacts with them. On higher traction the gear diff is more like a limited slip diff.

What kind of grease do you use in the transmission? For the top shaft and idler gear ?

I've used white lightning bike chain lube in my 17.5 transmissions in the past for a very light grease on the gears.

This is the dirt version which comes with a ball diff. Our track is high bite, so the optional gear diff also works most of the time which is why I have it. If you buy the normal b6.2 it comes with the gear diff.

Which ones better for hard clay.

Def. start with the ball diff first. If you're running slicks or ghost treads on the clay then you should be good with a gear diff and something like 35wt shock oil to 1k diff fluid.
