It's almost like having major celebrities in video games is like a curse or something. That or maybe AAA developers spending more money on celebrities instead of using it on the game itself isn't such a good idea.

@StrangeTICK32 I guess that would be considered an outlier. But considering how old that is, it came from a time when celebrity cameos were uncommon to rare and were actually good games. So it's a good outlier in a pool of bad.
It can be done right, Death Stranding showed games can have literal movie casts and be amazing.

Some you missed:
- Bruce Willis in Apocalypse. Originally developed without a name lead, Willis was brought in to as a way to show off the game engine (which would later be used on the Tony Hawk games). The game ultimately failed to take off.
- The Katy Perry expansion pack of The Sims. Yes, this is real.
- Green Day: Rock Band. Not really the first choice you'd think of to do a Rock Band game on.
- Other celebrities who have promoted mobile games: Ryan Reynolds, John Goodman, Sharon Stone, Meghan Trainor, Kate Upton, Mariah Carey.

I wouldn't say Green Day Rock Band is an "awful cash grab". It's just another serviceable Rock Band game in the myriad of rinse and repeat Rock Band titles. The same could be said about The Beatles Rock Band. The games appeal to particular niches:
- Fans of Rock Band
- Fans or The Beatles/Green Day

I'm super saddened by stuff like this or like when TH-camrs butcher city names so badly that they aren't even taking into consideration that maybe they should hear someone else pronounce it before they go with their version of it. Like, I'm of the opinion that if you're gonna do a full video on a topic, the least you can do is watch a video about the things you put into the video to be accurate. To be fair to the characters of The Quarry, they are supposed to be a bunch of 18 year old camp councillors. They seem pretty believable to me
Some good examples of celebrity castings are Sylvester Stallone and Peter Weller returning to voice Robocop and Rambo. They had genuine care for these characters that built their careers and gave a amazing performances that was almost like they never left. John Cena as Peacemaker in MK1 sounds like he's having a blast and his line delivery is hilarious. Willem Dafoe in Beyond Two Souls gave a great performance as well and acted his heart out. Matt Ryan as Edward Kenway in Assassins Creed 4 was also a great performance. Imo its when they hire the best actor or celebs with prior experience for their character it ends up working

The Kurt Cobain stuff in Guitar Hero led to legal issues and controversy when it happened

The Quarry has some great performances in my opinion, it’s supposed to be extremely corny as it’s not only supposed to emulate the cheesy 80’s horror films but they’re just obnoxious teenagers so they’re not gonna be over enthusiastic

Now let's talk about the good ones. Putting the president into the map "Five" in Black Ops 1 will forever be one of the coolest moments in CoD. That cinematic that rolls before the map loads is one of my favorites

Black Ops 1, 2, 3, and 4, Advnaced Warfare, WWII, and Infinite Warfare all had a great cast of celebrities in the Zombies.

The story will be told more than likely akin to Genesis-2, via missions/quests that're instance based. (teleport you into a new part of the world where you wont be bothered by other players. Akin to doing a GTA5 heist.)

Man Crackdown 3 hurt, the first is a masterpiece and the second one was a spit in the face. I was hype for Crackdown 3 yet EVERY piece of information I heard about it for the DECADE it was in development was a red flag.

Michael Jackson's Moon Walker had a lot of input from MJ, including help making the MIDI music of his songs, input on level design and it starred Michael Jackson. It didn't just have a likeness on the cover. It's a good game and MJ had a love for SEGA with him being involved in the initial music for Sonic 3 (though they say the removed or changed it up before release) and him doing a ton of promo work.

If I see a `celebrity` being advertised to try and make me buy a game, I especially switch off and wait. There's a reason they shove a `celeb` in there- to try and make you buy something that's very probably not very good. That money wasted on a `celeb` could be used to make the game better.

When it comes to Ark 2, it seems that it was originally gonna be a story driven game but after all the fan backlash it seems they are changing it back to what Ark 1 was like. So Vin Diesel probably will get shifted to the side.
There have been some announcements from the studio behind ark that the vin diesel sequel is basically either not happening or on what is essentially permanent hold? They instead basically rebooted the first game on modern consoles.
I watched the Undawn gameplay once from one guy’s channal, and I forgot that the game was even about zombies. In fact it felt like zombies where only there barley half the time. I saw more girls randomly singing like a Disney Princess more than I saw any of the zombies before I lost interest.

If I remember correctly they weren’t playable more like side npcs helping out at a point but I think there was two rappers in “Army of Two: Devils Cartel” but I do not remember who they are. Also Ubisoft did a lot of advertising with Jon bernthal for Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.
I find it funny that both the rock and Vin Diesel were in video game movies about driving that were supposed to be movies and never came out and both are in the Fast and Furious series
Actually the reason why buck was in halo 5 was because originally they were going to have Gabriel Thorne from spartan ops in Osiris but the voice actor had some kind of emergency and bucks actor was available.

For the odst part with filion, he was in some of the previous halo games as like a random unsc soldier. There actually were a couple of decently popular actors i think in halo 2 or 3 at least as random soldiers. The only one that comes to mind tho is katee sackhoff, but i think there are others

Call of the Dead for Black Ops 1 was just well done and fun! Four action and horror movie legends doing a movie with George Romero, the big daddy of zombies, goes wrong and you have to survive not only waves of zombies but a super charged zombie George as well! Call of the Dead is my favorite zombies map of all time and there’s a lot of reasons why

7:30 - I don't remember Terry Crews for Crackdown 3, I remember the big promise that it'd be a game utilising network for parts of it, so they could have destruction maybe never seen before. I believe when it was released it was revealed to not have such destruction. I think the claim was that they were going to run a bunch of Xboxes to make the destruction possible, similar to Xcloud or whatever it is called now.
I disagree with the idea that supermassive only started using known actors in their games with their newer anthology games. Until Dawn had multiple popular actors featured.

If you are tricked into buying a bad game because of a celebrity that you like, you've got much bigger issues going on than the money you just wasted.
There is a story to ark. But its not like your normal campaigns. But there is "technically" a campaign. Its a very interesting story but takes some time to learn it.
Speaking of celebrity cash grabs in games who here has played Brutal Legend and The Chronicles Of Riddick Escape From Butcher Bay and it's remaster The Chronicles Of Riddick Assault On Dark Athena oh yeah i will say this about The Chronicles Of Riddick game it was actually pretty fun and scary during certain parts oh yeah and Gears Of War 3 had Ice T as one of the voice actors

At least that's what Ex Co founder of Rooster Teeth Burnie Burns said once upon a time when speaking on Elijah's part in Season 8-9 of Red vs. Blue (recorded in Halo 3). Elijah voiced one of the main antagonists of Season 9 in RvB, Sigma. But then again RvB isn't estranged to including seemingly random celebrities in major roles of their show, with my personal favorite being the lead singer of the Canadian band Barenaked Ladies making several return cameo's as the voice of Captain Butch Flowers.
