@@TheNeighborDominator It works wonderfully. I have been using mine with a third eyelet for the past month and it's great not having to worry about taking it off to reverse.
Did mine and it works great! Thank you! I have Southern St Augustine and still laying them stripes. I am using a Ryobi electric push mower and it works just fine. Most striping kits I found online were $100+. This cost me $30. I had to get some supplies at Ace (PVC) and some at Home Depot (end caps). Home Depot will not cut the pipe for you but Ace will. Then Ace did not have the correct 3inch end caps used in the video. For me I had to remove the rubber piece on the mower for the carabiner clips to fit. I also had to use 4 clips. Took me about 15 minutes to make it once I got home. Traffic was my biggest hurdle lol.
I love it! That is smart using 4 clips. Mine ended up wearing because it was too much weight. I have never seen st.aug stripes before but i also love in Michigan. At aug is so thicc! I'm glad it worked well for you😊
@@TheNeighborDominator honestly man, you could use something as simple as an eye/eye turnbuckle, even just to extend it 8-12 inches. There’s adjustment on both ends, for you to find a sweet spot. Then just attach your carabiners to the eye opposite the frame
Could just put a third I bolt on the back of the roller. run a small rope on it to a carabiner. hook the carabiner onto the handle bar. when you need to backup you just pull up on the rope which lifts the roller, backup then let the rope back down and your on your way again.
I too copied Kyles approach (done a video too). My one to get around the wheels I doubled up on the clips which also meant the tube is longer and heavier. Great video :-)
@@TheNeighborDominator nice.. mmmm i have the checkmate,, wondering if i can modify to make it work like yours, instead of using the brackets that go on the Ego's shaft.. 🤔
I honestly am not so sure about st.aug. i would imagine it will.have some sort of stripe but not as definitive as a perennial rye grass from the north. I know bermuda and zoysia stripe nice.
How heavy is your end product? I could only get 4" PVC and filled it with crushed stone. I'm wondering if it is too heavy to drag across the lawn. Can it damage the lawn versus something that rolls along? Thanks.
@@TheNeighborDominator Thanks! I'm conflicted between doing exactly what you did or making one that rolls. Have you had any issues with it not rolling? Love the video and appreciate the help!
Great how to video bro. That really is a great DIY striper that Kyle came up with. Probably the best I have seen with only maybe Jason G's coffee can and board striper which is still my all time favorite. Both get the #stripermanapproved stamp :)

I'm about to build this... not sure if dumb question but you said the pvc will hit the wheels so it's 18". Why not just use longer eye bolts so you can increase the width of the pvc? Say 8" vs 4"? Youd just need another nut on the outside of the eyebolt so that the full length of the bolt can stick out.
I have a great idea that I think will work the best! Use a little common sense and ask yourself what makes our hair sit down? A Comb! So build a comb like structure built at an inward angle so it replicates combing your hair. This should be guaranteed to work the best. When I run a bunch of rubber tires over my hair it does nothing. But a simple comb lays it down.
That's called a dethatcher or power rake. They have those, they do a different job and rejoice debri. They can lay down and nice stripes though while tearing up the ground
@@ryanennis3199 but then it would make contact with the wheels, no? Unless, you do something different and extend it behind the wheels?? But then the question is, what do you use to make it extend BEHIND the wheels?
@@papichulo9107 You have to make or buy then install brackets to extend it past the wheels. You really need the thing to roll not drag across the lawn if you need to back up at any point. Good concept for being the easiest install but it doesn't quite check all the boxes.

add another eye let with a cord up to the handle, then you can lift it when your reversing.

Hi just made one for my ego mower looks great thanks Gary
How did it work out? It helps big time!
Great help!! I am on it!! Thanks
Did you end up making one? They work pretty good for cheap!
Appreciate the constant effort please keep it coming
For sure. I appreciate you stopping by to watch. I have a lot more content coming.
Excellent video and I have the EGO as well. Thanks! I have to go backwards a lot of times so I wonder how to adjust for that.
Hard mount it to the frame of the mower so ur not just dragging it, you won't have any issue then
Hello, I'm from Detroit Michigan
Aaayyy neighbor! There is not to many of us lawn lovers here in the D!
Great project Clint I’m going to use black pvc to match the Toro 😎
I thought about painting it black to match. That is a great idea!
Thanks Kyle!
Kyle is awesome!
Going to try it and I have the same mower as you
It works very well. Especially when you do the double pass to burn them in!
Works great man!
I know you know!
Always fun content.
Thank you sir!
Going to try this
How did it turn out? It is legit awesome!
Came out great only thing I did different was I used 4 inch pvc pipe instead of 3 inch
A no mammms qdo perron y muy bien aplicado de como hacerlo 👏🏽
Bro I did the exact same thing two years ago to mine and what a difference it makes
Big time right! The ego didn't stripe for $hit. It is a game changer if you want stripes in the lawn!
Could always use concrete on the inside, which would also help prevent the bolt from loosening. Watching these to make one for my riding mower
I had concrete in one before and it worked out perfect
Very nice DIY striper. I would fill it with sack concrete.
I thought about concrete after the fact but I had a bag of pebbles already!
That's awesome I'm definitely trying that out 🔥🔥🔥
So cool I love it ,thank you.
I am glad I could help!
Excellent!
Thank you sir!.. if you don't have a striper this is the one to make!
@@TheNeighborDominator I do not have one now, but I like this.
Hey, this is a great idea!! How much does the striper weighs?
If you extend it out further behind the wheels, it’ll eliminate the inability to backup, which is crucial when cutting more than a 1000 sqft box.
Wouldn't that require brackets? I was going for ease with the clips. If it was on a bracket we could back up.

Where is the video on doubling up of the clips? I went to your channel, but no videos 🤔🤔. Link would be nice.
Nice work dude and on the cheap. Stripes on turf is so sexy. Cheers
I love both. The carpet look and the striped baseball field
Where do you get the pvc? I looked and all the 3 inch pvc is in 10 ft sections at lowes and home depot, $20 or more
Nice Write Up, Built one with some left over 2" pipe, instead of 3" think I'll have any issues?
Not at all. As long as it's somewhat heavy. Just go over it twice
I like that for my ego, thanks for sharing man
No problem. My ego doesn't stripe at all so I wanted a little something on there.
awesome idea.. would this work on #1 (1 1/2") cutting height on Ego ? I know that checkmate doesn't work for that.. 😵
Oh heck ya. Because there are no brackets you can go low!

Question, Do i have to take off the bag that grabs the grass or can I do it with the bag on?
So how will this hold up when dragged across my drive way or on a sidewalk.I have a small yard and some sidewalk.
It works just fine. My first one was zip tied and that broke dragging it around but with the beaner clips you can take it off
I’m so doing this today. Home Depot here I come
It is honestly so easy and worth it. Especially if you have an ego that doesnt stripe!
Me too. ❤
Can you strip any type of turf? I have st agustine in Texas .
I honestly am not so sure about st.aug. i would imagine it will.have some sort of stripe but not as definitive as a perennial rye grass from the north. I know bermuda and zoysia stripe nice.
Do you notice less run time on the battery when you use the striping kit?
Yes. Definitely. But I have a smaller yard so it doesn't effect me that bad. But yes, pulling a heavy object does take its toll on the battery
How heavy is your end product? I could only get 4" PVC and filled it with crushed stone. I'm wondering if it is too heavy to drag across the lawn. Can it damage the lawn versus something that rolls along? Thanks.
I’m thinking about doing this. Do you have to bag? I typically don’t bag and just mulch my yard.
No sir, you do not have to bag. I just had the bag for measuring purpose to make sure i still could bag of i choose to.
I think cut looks better 😂
Better than stripes? I'm starting to dig that on the front. Just having it look like un vacuumed carpet!
So I have all my parts and my pipe is 24 inches long .Is the length important or should I shorten it so its between the wheels.Thanks.
how to you catch the clippings?
What size carabiner clips did you use ? Thanks
How does it affect going backwards / k turns?
Its a pain sometimes. Really only good forward, then a turn, forward. Cant back up
I think I will make a 60” one.
I would love to see that!
Great video! How much does it weigh? Thanks!
I will have to check. When I get home I will check. Can't be more than5-10lbs

How would you mount this to a bolens 20 inch push mower
That is a good question. Those are such unique looking mowers
Out of curiosity, does this work if you use a bag? Or does the PVC get in the way?
The bag fit on there. I just left it off so people could see it in action. I should have did a pass with it on
Thank you!! Much appreciated
Sand would be heavier - fewer voids. Wet sand even heavier.
Wet sand. That is genius!
Did it drain the battery faster while using?
I did not do proper testing but it did feel that way. Not by anything much but yes.

This thing is incredible. My ego has not striping capability and I needed something like this so bad! Kyle's the man!
How about using bigger diameter pipe so you get a better look .Would that work?.
For sure, heavier the better. Might have to add a few more clips. It's all in bending the grass down
what is the weight of the 3 inch striper, please?
I was wondering how you were going to tighten those locking nuts. Good video.
Hahahaha I had to grab the tools and cut away for a minute

What size clips
How long that stripes lasts?
A few days until the grass grows. Just like a traditional stripe
What level is the mower set to?
You can set it in whatever level you want. The longer the grass the more defined the stripes will be
I just tried mine for the first time today and the stripes lasted for about 3 hours and then they were gone.Sure didnt last long.
First :)
Why not have two ,one after the other to save doing double runs on the stripes
