I have several places in my yard that seem to stay bare, except for weeds. The crazy weeds grow there, but the grass struggles. My yard has a slope and when the builder did the original landscape, they brought in a lot of red clay and buried leftover bricks as well.
There was alot of that in my previous yard so i can totally relate. I did do another spot on this lawn and was bringing up alot of rocks. The homeowner said they have majority clay as well!
I put down sand this year. I have a few thin spots that are showing the white sand despite the grasses recovery. I considered a PGR but was always told to use it after I was happy with the lawn. It made sense to me.
I would agree. I have dabbled with pgr and yes, make sure your lawn is how you want it because that stuff is strong. If you get disease or a dead spot, it will be around for a while!
yep....ive got the pro plugger as well....definitely helpful for filling in bare areas. Combine that fertilizer on a regular basis and watch that bermuda come alive
When I edge my centipede lawn, I put those cuttings in a wheelbarrow and find thin spots that could benefit from planting them there. It's like free sod!
FYI for Bermuda people check for rocks and construction debris that was not removed prior to laying down the lawn. If that happens especially in clay soil there is a chance your lawn will not recover unless you dig up the rocks and debris, dig up and remove as much clay as you can and fill with a ton of topsoil.
@visionquest414 for sure. I could have stepped on it. I usually roll it. But i has basically a bare spot then i put more dirt on top. Like a dirt seed sandwich. After watering it all came together. When doing and overseed on an established lawn we have to make sure the seed gets through the grass and to the soil si we don't waste product
@@The81titans I didn't think of filming this until after the fact. I've done a handful of helping out subscribers but didn't film. This was a common problem for a lot of people.

Hope the home owner is taking advantage of the fire hydrant on the property as it gives you a reduction in your home owners insurance. Make sure to let your insurance company know you are due a discount because of the fire hydrant.
@seen48 when it comes to weeds and unwanted grass there are alot of factors. Naturally with wind blowing and thin spots on the lawn. Pollen and seeds are blowing everywhere all the time. Another is in your soil. Unwanted stuff is dormant and can emerge if the conditions allow it. Abs another big one o is transfering from lawn to lawn whether it be a neighboring lawn or a lawncare service and they just cut a field of that stuff and then cut your lawn right after. I got this helps💪🏽

I appreciate your kind words. My goal is to at least help one person per video!
Good tips. Thanks for the video!
I hope it helps your lawn journey!

A pro plugger will definitely help the grass spread if you have that type of grass

Nice. Thx. Had the garden weezile but got rid of it. About every 5 minutes had the tighten the nuts/screws.

100% agree!
Try some humic acid as well as a soil amendment. It breaks up the soil and allows the grass roots an easier path to spreading.
I hear humic can help with this situation. I am going to pass that on. Thanks!
I frequently plug grass with my hand post hole digger.
I didn't have that option. All my stuff was in storage
Nice job Clint. I think you were in a connecting sub of mine.

Just a precaution when using chemicals and especially when it's windy! Wear long pants and long sleeves. Then shower right after you are done.
Ya I normally do but had to make due with what I had.
Do you do lawn renovations? I would like a quote. I live downriver in Southgate.
How big is the yard and what are you thinking of doing? Just getting rid of weeds, total kill, partial Reno, overseed?
@@TheNeighborDominatorcorner lot. Less than 5,000 square feet. Partial reno (mostly between the sidewalk and the street) and over seed.
Once you add the soil and the seed, how often does it have to be watered?
I water at least twice a day. Morning and afternoon. Once it germinate i back off to every other day
All you need is water that spot really wet
If it was a chemical spill. You'll need to remove soil. Then use fresh topsoil.the top layer of contaminated
We actually did this intentionally. There was a ton of unwanted grass so we put chemical siren to remove it
Looks like TX to me.
I found white Earth-Gro empty bags nicely rectangular planted in the backyard. My reason grass not growing.
That is unfortunate. Some people just leave stuff behind
New subscriber.... Lawn amateur here... After you rough up dirt-put down seed, shouldnt you pat it down a bit to ensure seed to soil contact?

nice vid.. what do you do against an army of ants.. we tried alot but after 10 mins they were getting piles and piles of seeds into their burrow lol
Have you tried bifen?
@@TheNeighborDominator what is that
What did you mean about the blue dye, what exactly did you use it for
@@The81titans we just used the dye to mark where we sprayed the herbicide. We did not want to kill off more than we had to. The herbicide is clear

I will pass this along to the homeowner. I actually have become friends with them!
Three rolls of sod would have been my choice. I don’t have the patience. I like to sprint
Lol. I hear ya. I did suggest that but the subscriber wanted seed to be put down to match
@@TheNeighborDominator
To each their own!
It is more costly to sod so i understand.
How does that types of grass even get started on a lawn that didn’t have them?
