Great video, Love the clarity. This is totally different than the way I do it down in TX. The bottom looks like camo there instead of the nice clean/grassy sand I gig in, and our flounder act like they're dead to the world unless you stick something in them or reach down and grab them.
chris reimund typically, you don't. and if it's too small you either have to throw it out or risk a fine, that's why I don't really like this type of fishing, it's very wasteful.
We welded aluminum bars that were over legal size, powder coated neon orange so you can measure the fish. If it's close, let it pass. After a few hundred times, you know by looking.
I dont know why your doing it at night, but you need to look for the two holes and a mouth ,I used to do in Baja Mexico with a Aluminum pole holder as a spear, white sands and two feet water for miles. You do the string ray shuffle ,not many Halibut, lots of 7' sand shark and Rays..I' d just pin em down.It was a blast!
Tactical Poor Boy I will provide a link to the same basic light. however if you happen to live near eastern nc most marinas carry them. these particular lights are placed halfway in the water to be effective. www.walmart.com/ip/Sea-Striker-Flounder-Light-24/17403844 . the ones used in this video are pieced together but identical the the ones in the link.
23mako depends on murky water ill run 4 lights and that'll be two lights each battery with a back up battery and light. but on three lights they get there own battery. regardless my trolling motor will burn through two batteries by the time my lights will give out and by than I've had enough fun.
Hey brother, nice goPro footage! I have got to try that here in SC. Hey check out my gigging videos if you get a chance. Thanks for sharing your footage. God bless.
I was doing this at 14 around the waters in Wilmington N.C. Figure 8 Island.. no bag no limits... I sure miss it alot.. 💞💞💞💞

sportsman 126 thanks man.
How do you know if they are legal size? You kill them before you can measure them.

chris reimund do it long enough and you figure it
As long as you release the undersized ones you've impaled, you're ok. You merely gave the fish a cool 3-pronged piercing. It'll live. Maybe.. 😝
Years of fishing will give you the eyes to determine legal size fish. In other words, if it looks close, let it be.

sportsman 126 Do you run a seperate deep cycle battery for each light?

LEARN HOW TO FISH
Sorry, that’s not fishing.
At what point did they call it "fishing" ?
True, this isn't fishing, it's hunting. Hoping to try it on the Outer Banks this autumn.
