    1:21:40 The problem with Barnwell’s interpretation of the draft analytics is that he’s looking at trading up and comparing all GM decisions. What would be more effective and meaningful is to analyze GM’s successes v failures in that scenario individually.

      This would mean so much more if we weren't talking about the almost absolutely incompetent Raiders offense. It's basically the exact opposite to the Worthy pick: a player that was highly regarded from the beginning but since he is going to the best QB and HC in the league the hype skyrockets.

    The whole AFC West qb stuff is crazy. The Broncos have too many holes to compete with the Chiefs or really make the playoffs so drafting Nix is suboptimal. The Raiders have : 1. 2:qbs who’re could be at least average and have a better overall roster. Drafting Bowers and JPJ (both just 21:yrs.): therefore makes a lot more sense. There’s a very good chance both of them will be around when the Raiders are,able to draft or sign a qb. that gets them over the hump.

      Either that or he ends up as a highly drafted gadget player with a miniscule catch radius I would put my money on that. The only reason he has a shot is because Andy knows how to use limited guys like him.. I can't believe they didnt trade up and draft a tackle I thought for sure Guyton would end up a Chief. I knew WR was a need but I thought OT was a bigger one the guy they drafted is raw as hell and won't help them much or at all this year. That's why I didn't like their draft that much they drafted a of athletes that aren't polished much and need a lot of work after rd 1 even the WR at 1 is far from a polished player and may struggle as well. It looked like one of the Raiders bad drafts to me.

He's a much better prospect than the kid the Chiefs drafted but that's what happens when you win the SB you draft last in every round but my issue was positional value there was much better pickings at WR in rds 2 and 3 for tackle not so much. Don't get me wrong he's not in any way a bad prospect in a normal draft even guys like him that are good enough athletes to eventually play OT in the NFL, are gone by the end of the 2nd rd he's just not helping them this year and may even struggle in year 2 but the Chiefs are good a developing guys they have to be they draft late every year.

    Trey Taylor the safety from Air Force also won the fucking Thorpe award which is given to the BEST defensive back in America. Why the fuck isnt anyone talking about that?? Like the year before last in 2022 Sauce Gardner was a CBfor Cincinnati and he had a teammate who was also a CB named Kobe Bryant. Bryant won the Thorpe award in 2022. Not Sauce. Sauce never won the Thorpe. Why not? Sauce went in round 1 and Bryant went in round 4. wtf is going on here? If Bryant was the best defensive back in the country why the hell wasn’t he taken in the 1st round? I just don’t understand. Do coaches not care about that kind of thing? I mean when drafting college players I think it ,for the most part but not always, is important to target guys who were All American or made All Conferance teams. Some think that doesn’t matter. Bullshit it does matter. Making All American and All Conferance and winning the Thorpe and Balitnikoff do matter because it means that a group of people who know football vote on these things and the awards mean you are the best.

After a few years there he was beat out again I guess then goes to Wisconsin and has his worst year yet. I think he had like 7 tds all year or something ridiculous like that. Good athlete for sure but I wouldn’t want him
    Playing QB on my team. Maybe he can be converted to a TE because he does have some
    Size on him. Oftentimes QBs are converted to TEs or WRs. Travis Kelce was a QB when he got
    To college. Julian Edelman was a QB at Kent State. Bengals TE Tanner Hudson was a QB in college.

    He would need to do is run again at his pro day and weigh in there too. He did not do that so that leads me to believe that the figures that are out there are as good as it’s going to get. And Brian Thomas Jr was the 2nd best WR in the whole dam

    What is the source for this idea that we should just accecpt that a plurality of NFL teams saw Penix as 8th overall level talent? As far as I'm aware, the only team rumored to trade for him that hasn't come out to deny that was the Raiders.

    • @AJHart-eg1ys
      @AJHart-eg1ys 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I heard that one during the South podcast. Plurality in this case can only mean two or more. It can't really be applied to the draft. The teams that passed on him obviously weren't that impressed, and the teams after No. 8 who weren't thinking about QBs weren't thinking of him at all. Even today they used Nix to continue gaslighting their water-carrying regarding the Falcons.

    • @user-hs5vb6kc9o

      I don't think it means he was regarded as 8th overall, but if, let's say, 3 or 4 teams considered him to be QB3 in their boards is easier to justify the 8th overall selection. What is hard to justify is not the pick itself being 8th, but Atlanta being the one to spend it after giving Kirk Cousins a massive deal.

    I like Nix more than McCarthy Maye and Penix. Have you seen Penixs numbers when he is pressured?? They aren’t good. He had the best o line In the country last year and was only sacked 11 times all year. And when he finally faced a good defense in Michigan he collapsed and easily had his worst game in his career. He will be facing defenses like that every week in the NFL. The fact that he landed in the weakest division and in the weaker conference will help him somewhat. Yea Atlanta had a good o line but the main thing they are really good at is run blocking. Atlanta had an elite run blocking offensive line. Pass blocking they are at best average

When he was asked to carry a team at Auburn he was borderline unplayable. Then with NFL guys all over the team in a weaker conference he puts up cartoon numbers. Feels like Mac Jones or Tua. You could’ve put Quinton Mitchell across from Pat Surtain or Liatu Latu across from Baron Browning and really started to build out a nasty defense!! Instead you reach at QB for a team in cap hell that’s miles away from competing IN DIVISION let alone the rest of the AFC. Thank God the Broncos are still a CLOWN SHOW!!
