Here is the 2nd part of a multiple series of videos discussing audio recording equipment, terms, techniques and theory. These are things that all musicians, especially drummers and percussionists should know.
In this lesson I talk about microphones and microphone techniques that will help you make better drum and percussion recordings. I also show you all kinds of microphones from cheap to very expensive that I have extensive experience with.
Part 3 is all about signal processing. In Part 4 I will discuss how to soundproof a room as well as how to build a room within a room for practicing and Recording.

Devouring home studio videos for the past few months looking for drummer’s perspective. This is hands down the best of many I’ve watched for drumming mics (by far). Hi Rick, will there be a detailed step by step "drum recording tutorial" made by you for anyone who just start out and is totally lost on what to do?

I own a D12 AKG Mic, but it has a very low gain, ca=n yo explain if is the normal, maybe the were fixed inside the bassdrum

Is it from an old May micing system? I have had some issues with a D12 were the capsule went bad. It's expensive to fix so it may not be worth it. A Beta 52 or D112 sound almost as good.

@@rickdior It's quite old, my parents own it maybe in the sixties or in the seventies. One day i will check with a technician. Thank you very much Rick.
