    Anyone who lived through those years knows Cove was the true centerpiece of Saosin during their reign. Anthony was there for 4 nanoseconds and left rto form circa which was perfect for his voice. Weird meets weirder. Cove has more power behind his voice which perfectly matched the intensity of Saosins musicianship.

    a lot of fans didn't deserve Cove, and neither did his bandmates. They destroyed his confidence as a singer and he turned to nicotine cuz of it, ruining his vocal chords towards the end. it took them a ridiculously long time to get In Search of Solid ground out because of it. What i find amazing is how Anthony Green has said himself that Cove's songs are his absolute favorite Saosin songs and i agree with him. I'm happy Cove is back to touring with Saosin in the phillipines right now just for the nostalgia, but i hope he continues to focus heavy on Dead American. Saosin can kick rocks

    Love Anthony, but I noticed I really resonated with cove’s work with them more. The songs that introduced me to Saosin (I was born 1999 so I’m a fan on the younger side) were all songs with Cove. I then branched out and heard Anthony and obviously he’s a kick ass vocalist and that initial EP was a kick ass album, but honestly I feel more personal nostalgia and preference to Cove

    • @SuicideSeason4545
      @SuicideSeason4545 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You see this is the best comment I’ve seen down here. There’s no “so and so is the better vocalist.”
      Because quite frankly no one in this comment section is on a level where they can accurately judge both vocalists’ capabilities. Your reasoning for liking cove better is also spot on. Quite frankly though I like the first EP but I can’t exactly describe why. The guitar progressions in it were spot on and Anthony’s vocals where the icing for me

    • @thefaeking
      @thefaeking 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SuicideSeason4545 thank you! Your reasons for preferring the first EP are perfectly valid as well my friend! That’s the beauty of how subjective opinions and tastes are. Everyone is different and we shouldn’t have to feel like different palettes automatically mean it’s trash. It all just depends on where you are in life when you become connected to the album and whichever vocalist, it’s all still Saosin no matter what!
      I saw Saosin for their 20 year anniversary special in garden grove in July. They were awesome, but man I definitely saw how much the crowd showed their love for Anthony vs Cove. It was very noticeable and it made me feel a bit bad! But that’s showbizz, Saosin needed Cove post Anthony and I’m glad we were able to have both onstage and on record!

    Traslanting The Name changed my life forever. I never heard something so explosive and raw. Drums like machine guns, a vocalist giving it his all with every note, and guitars releasing furious symphonies.
    But what also made original Saosin so great was their live shows. I watched endless live videos and would get so hyped. Anthony is the greatest front man of our time. No one puts on a show and completely controls the crowd as well as he does. His energy is infectious. The dude just goes ape shit and let's go. The audience follows.
    Cove did okay. Self titled was amazing, I love it. Not better or worse than the EP, just different. The live show is where Cove lacks in comparison to Anthony though. It had no connection.
    I have nothing against Cove, he's a solid dude. Dead American rocks, they've made some absolute bangers.
    But I'm glad it happened because Anthony went on to create my favorite band of all time, Circa Survive.

    I think its really a matter of musical taste. Coves albums feel a lot more ethereal and warm at times where as I feel TTN was a lot more raw post hardcore from the early 2000's that really set a tone in the scene. In high school i listened to their discography regularly but now as a 29 year old i crank AGs vocals a lot more mostly because as I have continued finding new music over the years I steered to the stronger post hardcore sound.

    Was really into Saosin between like 17-19 and then I fell out of them after I started diving into classic rock. But when I was 18 my first year in college I was taking a rock history class, the final assignment for the class was to pick a rock song from any genre we liked and then discuss it for the class. I picked Bury Your Head. On a whim I sent a message to Saosin’s MySpace asking about what the lyrics meant and to my surprise I got a reply back from Cove himself. He was really friendly in tone and was eager to help me with my assignment. The professor was pretty impressed by this too, as he saw it it represented an interesting shift in times with the internet and social media and the ways in which fans could connect with bands they liked. It’s something we take for granted today but back in 2008/2009 it was still novel.

    That self titled album with the beetle on the cover is unreal... I do t know much about saosin but this album is so good.

    Nobody listens to Along the Shadows. Not a single song from that album has cracked their top 10 on spotify.

    This rings so true - I remember the forums clamoring for the next lead singer, wondering... and it was just not the same when Cove came in. Admirable job indeed by Cove, but that EP made me a Green fan-boy, not a Saosin. I'll folloe him into the superband abyss forever haha. amuch love to Cove though, for real

    You were pretty much spot on with your assessment. I was in high school when I first heard the EP, and I was completely blown away. I think AG had just left the band when I discovered them. But I'm glad he left, because Circa Survive's music was by far better than anything Saosin ever did, at least in my opinion. Saosin's self titled album was ok. I had to warm up to it initially, and over time, it just didn't age well. Cove just didn't have the vocal chops, not alot of range. His voice just sounds flat and sounds worse to my ears the older I get. I can't even listen to anything by them anymore unless it's the EP, sometimes a couple songs off their 2016 album, but that's rare.

    Anthony Green is and always will be Circa Survive for me. When I think Saosin I don’t think Anthony Green just because I feel that Cove did such a great job making it his own

    I just watched them here in the Philippines 3 days ago. I wanted to hear Anthony live, but he was out due to conflict of schedule with his other project. But I'm really glad they phoned Cove to do vocals for them, and I got to hear my favorite songs from the Beetle album, live! Cove for me is the better vocalist for Saosin. No hate to Anthony's talent tho, he's a god tier vocalist.
