    Joshua, your tutorial videos are top-notch tutorial videos. To say they are the best on TH-cam is an under-statement. The presentation, the flow and everything is just fantastic. And your English is very precise and to the point and your voice is very pleasant too. Thank you for sharing your immense knowledge and expertise with us.. People like you restore some faith in human beings.👍👍👍

      I recently bought a Mac with an macOS Monterey running on an M1 processor. I am learning Logic Pro with your videos. I don't have much experience in computers or computer software. Now I found that many VST instruments and software are not compatible with Monterey. Even if they are compatible with Monterey, you still have to see if the software runs on Intel or M1. Most the music software do not meet these two criteria. So there are very few third party software I can use. Could you please kindly shine some light on this subject-matter ? Many thanks.

    This was so fantastic. Finally I can understand all of the basic edit functions, easily move notes and clips, and create smooth fades. Your videos are so easy to understand and make learning DAW software fun instead of confusing and boring. Thank you!!!!!!

    I'm learning so much in your videos, especially this one. All of the edit tools have been a bit intimidating to me since starting to use Logic and this makes it so clear and easy to understand that it's making me just want to spend hours writing music. This is going to help me be SO much more efficient, which I definitely need to get better at since I'm starting a career in Music Licensing. Thanks for the extremely helpful and easy to follow videos!

    Thank you for your descriptions. I’m completely blind, so I appreciate you using the terms that Logic uses, and also keystrokes. Voiceover uses the Logic’s terms to identify things, so when you use the term Inspector, that’s what Voiceover uses. Or if you were to talk about piano roll and other things. Even if it’s not visually name, the fact that you are describing it that way means that I can find it. And the fact that you are describing what keystrokes to use also means I don’t have to look it all up in the keyboard manager all the time. I really appreciate how you do your videos.

    I've been using Logic for quiet some years now, I hardly use all these tools from the menu. Besides my pointer tool, I only use the fade tool, which is very handy.
    I never use the markee tool or sissors... I mostly use the drop down menu, which is closed in your session, the menu with options like: "cut at playhead" etc. (the fourth button from the top left corner of the screen)
    Renaming regions works fine with just clicking on the region name (maybe in combination with another key, I think option... not sure since I don't have a project open) and chosing it from the menu that appears... changing the secundary tool to the text tool for such a small task seems overly compliacted, at least in my workflow. But of course it's just what you are acustumed to.

    @JohnnyHands 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    CORRECTION: At 1:16, you show how to adapt the cycle mode selection (gold-colored ruler bar selection) to the selected region, "remember, you can press Command U." The key command for this is just U, not command-U (though Command-U will work if you haven't customized that key combination for something else - the command key is just ignored.)

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually Command U is correct. Command U and U are actually two separate key commands. Command U sets the cycle range around the selection. Just U alone, creates a cycle range around the selection, but snaps the cycle range to the nearest bar line, on either end of the selection. So if you're selecting something that's trimmed exactly to the bar lines, it might appear that these two key commands do the same thing, but try it out on a region that is not trimmed to the bar lines and you'll see what I mean.

    Hello thank you for the videos you are awesome! Curious question. I work from my macbook pro. When holding control while dragging a region using any snap grid mode only makes a menu pop up it doesn't help me diminish or expand a region.
    Also, when using the marquee tool when you highlighted audio within the region and just clicked your mouse and trimmed or took a snippet out that you wanted to move. When I highlight and just 'click' my mouse on it nothing happens.
    I am assuming I may just have to use my trim tool? IS there another way to do these two things on a macbook pro? Thank you for your time and great content.

    2022 and still useful! However, I've looked here and elsewhere for a procedure that adds a fade-in and fade-out to a looped region, i.e., without adding fades to each of the individual loops. Given what I've seen of Logic so far, I can't imagine there isn't a simple-ish way of doing this? Am I right? Great tutorials; thanks!

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could do a batch fade from the inspector. Select all of the loops/regions that you want to add fades to, then go to the region inspector, and you can type in a specific fade length (in, out, X-fade) and apply it to each region you've selected. The values are in milliseconds.

    • @edwardnixon1782
      @edwardnixon1782 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MusicTechHelpGuy Thanks a lot. I'm thinking that the better way to go with this particular problem is to Repeat/Replicate whatever the term, the region; do a Fade-in on the first, a fade-out on the last and X-fades between the inner copies. Seems like too much constraint on the Loop approach. E.g., I'm not doing bars or standard pop-song sections, etc. It's more ambient and open... and I really don't know at this point where it's going. Great tutorial material none-the-less. I've had Logic for years, never really used it because I never had a machine that could run it with ease. An M1 MacBook Pro handles it quite well and Logic is higher % silicon. Worth another spin.

      @@michael55671 You have to copy the comp folder and move it to the end of the project. Then click on the letter in the left corner of thee original. Flatten- or Flatten and merge. Then as one single file it will fade command. Might be able to do it using the number fade section in the inspector while track row is selected. Not sure.
