  • If you follow us, you know we've had some issues with past Rincons going flatter than an open can of pop on a summer day after only 100-ish miles. HOKA claims they got to work on improving the durability in the newest version of the shoe. So was it some marketing BS or legit lab improvements? Check out Thomas's thoughts on this lightweight daily trainer.

    For me, Hoka shoes always feel great on the first few long runs. The feeling is like I could go on forever in them. But after over 100 miles, I begin to feel as if I am running with flat feet.

    If I can get at least 200 good miles in these bad boys then I'm happy. V1 is still one of my favorite shoes (just added another fresh one to the rotation), but it's depressing when I feel it flatten like a tire that made contact with Robbie's stache.

    Just went over 400mi on my Rincon 1s. They definitely have some shine worn off on the bounce, but they still have some life left in em. There's only a handful of Hokas I find don't last forever (Speed Instinct, Mach etc).

    364 miles on my Rincon 1s. Kinda' loved them, but the midsole has been pretty shot for the last 50 miles or so. Time to retire them. Love the new orange/green colorway. Think I might get them.

    I ended up doing 600km in mine, and they still felt decent but I was up for a change. I'm 6'3 and 180lbs, so not exactly featherweight and they were plenty resilient. I've just picked another pair up from Running Warehouse for $50 US.

    I've run in the Rincon 1 for over 500 miles and bought the version 2. I couldn't notice any difference in the cushion of the 1 or the new 2. I'll get over 800 miles out of the Rincon 1 I'm sure. I can't figure out how you can say the cushion gives out at 200 miles? If anything, the forefront in somewhat narrow.

    Hoka Mach 4 vs Hoka Rincon 3? Hmmmm

  • @hufemeve
    @hufemeve 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    How the new Rincon compares to the Mach 4 in durability? I'm very certain at some point I'll end up buying the Mach 4, but I always wonder about its durability because of the exposed outsole....

    • @MrBayde
      @MrBayde 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got a bit over 300 miles out of my first pair of Mach4s and the exposed outsole was not what gave out for me (as a 185lb/84Kg guy) if you look at the construction the actual bulk of the feel is from a separate foam and the outsole can be looked at as a foamy rubber so it will start to wear down but it is just like the rubber on any other shoe wearing down at that point.

      @@Sharkster_J I swear almost every Hoka shoe I have own the midsole dies out in that range. Even the trail shoes (my EVO Speedgoats RIP) seem to do that. Still I keep buying them (hello 2nd pair of EVO Speedgoats) because besides that they are great shoes. I just wished I could get like 500 miles out of them. I am 6ft and 180 lbs so a smaller person may get more out of them.
