The reason you may be feeling it to be firm is that Hoka foams are the most temperature-dependent. EVA gets stiff in colder temps. In summer you'd have very different experience.
I started running in May of 2020 and I got my first official running shoes in February on 2021 which were the Clifton 7’s and as much as I’m a new runner I too thought they were pretty much dead at mile 50 and the outsole was ruined, needless to say they’re almost at 600 miles but I won’t be buying any more hoka shoes until the change the foam they’re using.
I like the Rincon 3. The tongue bothers me initially as I am tying the shoe, but I find a way to ignore it once I get going…. I alternate it in my rotation.
I have the rincon 2. I used it for my first marathon. I'm not the fastest runner. Took me 6 hrs. But by mile 18 ish my feet were hurting and slowed me down alot. Now I won't go past 10miles with this shoe.. I have 120 miles on my shoe . I've tried ghost...ive tried glycerin . Me and my feet have a hard time finding the right shoe. I tried everything recommended by my local fleet feet .. Currently training for my next marathon and I'm at a lost for my long distance shoe! Love the reviews! They help me out with all the info!
Have you tried the Clifton 8? That has a lot of cushioning, and yet still fairly light. New balance rc elite 2 had an impressive amount of cushion for a race shoe. Only thing I find with the Clifton is that I push north of 600w, so sometimes find myself breaking traction.
@@Huxley555 I tried the clifton 7 in the store. It didn't feel right just from stepping in them ..so I never bought them to try. I may have to try the 8s to see how they feel. I'll have to look into the new balance you mentioned . The shoe store I go to gave me the 880 to try and I didn't like them. That's all the experience I have with new balance. Thanks!
@@michite7435 I was surprised as in the past I too didn't get on with them, after the rc 2 I went ahead and bought the fuelcell rebel V2. new balance fresh foam more v3 would be worth a look, I'm after a cushioned shoe and though the Clifton is good, I find myself wanting more from a daily trainer. New balance can run narrow, but they offer wide fitment in most of their shoes.
Been running in my rincon 3 for 6 months. Mostly 5km or 10kms. I have never even noticed the tongue on a single run, yet see it as a complaint in every review. Never bothered me :)
Lovely voice ..like the Rincon but too bad it’s still on the narrow side in the toe box ...along with the short wear and tear around 300 miles, a quick shoe but I prefer the Clifton or Mach 4 ...nice review
The weather this winter seems less runner-friendly than last year. Or maybe that’s my selective memory. Reasonable shoe price but Hoka should consider wider widths. I’ve seen how narrow these shoes are. Can’t imagine even trying them on.
I find EVA, and LightStike get firmer as the temperature goes down. I need to try maybe an ultraboost or zoomx or pwrrun pb or fuelcell, but my shoes are limited for traction in winter.
Great minds think alike, I just dropped my review today as well 😂 Fantastic video! It sounds like we are on the same page about this shoe, though I thought it didn’t get compressed as quickly as the other Rincons.
Bought 3 pairs of Rincons (2-3). I won't be buying anymore - loved the shoe, but hated the durability and the midsole getting crushed so quickly. Great while it lasted ( about 100 miles), but I'm done with Rincon.
love a good snow running sequence
If only it stuck to the ground…

Yes absolutely. I thought of this but forgot to include
i have the bondi 7, clifton 8, carbon x2, and the rincon 3 in my rotation. the rincon is easily my favorite Hoka.
light, plush & my “reach for” pair.
As someone who lives on a desert island, I enjoyed watching you run in the snow. Keep up the great content.
Thanks for watching!
Agree on the long run. Did a marathon in my pair and after 16-18 miles I definitely wanted a different shoe.
Dig the new intro 👍🏼
I’m in SoCal and the Rincon 3 has been great for me, the firmness just seems to be great for me on the 7-9 miles runs.
Glad you’re enjoying them!

"But first of course"......Ruby video bombing! 😄 Bonkers Beat Club track is awesome!! Got me head nodding! Well done running in the snow, Emily!
Thank you!!
Never even once, have I used a pull tab on a shoe??? I don't see any convenience in using it at all...?

Great content. I have that same pair. I loved the previous version.
Personally I find that all my Hoka shoes give a little bit after about 8-10km in winter!
So between the Rincon 3 and the Mach 4 how do they compare for being daily trainers?
Mach 4 is the more daily trainer shoe. Little more durable and has a softer feel under foot im my opinion
I am pretty much a 2 shoe person but love watching shoe reviews 👍🏼

Thanks for review and info and also hi ruby

Definitely one of the more narrow shoe brands
Are you thinking of compacted for the midsole? Curious what durability period was for you with the Mach4 by comparison. Martha
Yes compacted is a good word. Mach 4 more durable to me all around despite the outsole
@@RunLikeHeller thanks. I have about 100 mi on my Mach4 and so far so good
Rincon 3 or Clifton 8. What is your pick
Clifton 8
Nice review and nice hair 👍
Epic run footage!
Thank you!
HOKA doesn’t work for me, but I’ll still watch the vid and support all shoetubers!!
Thank you so much!
Do you think the midsole seems firmer now because the temperature is colder?
Yes could definitely be part of it

It could definitely be due to the colder weather. So funny we posted the same review on the same day 😂
@@RunLikeHeller Yeah the weather definitely affects EVA! Haha right? 😂

so if the life of rincon 3 is like 150 miles the price is terrible
No I don’t think that’s all it has. Likely more.
@@RunLikeHeller because you said you feel the difference and it is more firm after 50 miles
those are real nice
Gloves!
Emily, you definitely need a pair of gloves when you’re holding the GoPro in weather like that🥶
Yes, gotta bring the gloves next time lol
Your adorable 🥰!
Thank you!
Good morniiiiiiiing 😅
