This is a totally biased review in favor of gopro. How could you call these different classes. They're exact same class. Stabilization is amazing on both. Hdr is not even good looking on expensive mirrorless cameras, let alone these tiny sensor action cameras. You can achieve better results in log than hdr. You cannot tell the difference from 4k to 5.3. Actually, with these tiny sensors, you get a better looking image with less megapixels that are bigger vs more megapixels that are smaller. The fact that you never compared the sensor size which totally favors Action 4, shows how biased this review is. Action 4 is better hands down

He absolutely mentions and then shows light footage and mentions the advantages of the larger sensor on the Action 4, watch it again. As for image quality I find the GoPro Hero 12 is slightly better and offers more options for both resolutions, frame rate, and reframing in post so it comes down to if you need the low light improvements from the Action 4... for my personal use cases I do not and so I remain in the GoPro camp.

I’m going with the Action 4. It works better for me as a travel and everyday life documentary camera. Killer features for me is the less warped lens, battery life, and ease of use.
GoPro 12 would be my pick, if I were to use it specifically for action video. The more saturated video looks more lively, and the camera seems to more optimized for dynamic scenes. But, the DJI color seems a little more natural, which will help me remember what the places I visited actually look like.

Me too! As a first time AC user, and based on the nature
of video contents that I will be creating, I thought the
OA4 will fit my needs and requirements.
Just imagine, it's still in its 4th iteration and it is slowly
and prudently keeping up with the so called "Industry Standard"
for ACs which is already in its 12th model.
The thing is, what happens in the next 3 to 5 years, will the
King of ACs be dethroned? That said, I reckon ACs in the
next 5 years will be more advanced and hopefully made
      affordable to all people.
      Thanx DJI and GoPro.

    • @LNP20
      @LNP20 ปีที่แล้ว +1

you forgot to mention that Action 4 does not have any preset options for different fps resolution combination, which works so well on GP and blows my mind that DJI missed the ball to implement that. also if you pair GoPro with MaxLens mod 2, Action 4 FOV is nowhere near big. not to mention 8:7 on GoPro to be able to cut both horizontal and vertical from just one take, as well have substantially more resolution options, from 2.7K 240 to 5.3K 60. and where Action 4 really blew it for me - is giving only 10 megapixel photos, while GP12 has 27. only thing I really like about Action is bigger sensor, while other specs remained pretty underwhelming, especially the photo side.

My two favorite things are that you can cut the audio just about anywhere and NOT get an annoying pop sound. Plus the extra housing acts as another layer of protection against drops. I have rolled mine down a rocky mountain and the media mod protected the actual camera.

I think I’d say the GoPro is more versatile with the better photo modes and light trails, star trails etc but I’d say the action 4 is a better action camera. Better FOV in ultrawide without distortion, better audio so when biking or snowboarding it actually sounds like you’re biking or snowboarding instead of biking or snowboarding with earmuffs on. GoPro have better picture and resolution aaand stabilisation but still not that big difference and for me, action 4 is winner because of battery duration, fast charging, no overheating, mounting, lowlight + adventure combo action 4 is best buy

Whats with all the "no overheating" comments. Don't believe the hype. It does definitely overheat, just look for REAL reviews and don't believe the paid influencers.

I'm amazed how no one have noticed the very bad shape flares that have osmo action 4 against the sun. I recently send back my new osmo 4 for this bad effect. For me and video on motorcycle is a huge downside. Also on this video there are a lot of osmo action 4 parts where you can see the defect 😕

Action 4 has loip recording.. for driving or fishing.. dji has way cheeper incurence. 36€ 2 years 19€ for camera replacement. Gopro 100€ 2 years 99€ replacement. Dji has better batterytime, fast charging.

  • @greggh

I think the GoPro image quality is better. But the DJI is pretty good. The 2 reasons why I can't even consider the GoPro over the DJI are USB-C mic port and front touch screen. Until GoPro gives me those they're out of the ballgame.

You can easily color grade the footage with 10 bit log, so Go Pro doesn't get a win in terms of better color and image.

Thank you for the comparison. I still cant make up my mind. Is the GoPro footage oversharpened or is the DJI one kinda soft? Which sharpness setting did you use respectively? Because of student discount I would save around 80€ by taking the GoPro as I am looking at an action camera + 3 batteries, battery case, diving case, stick.

Better colours out of the box in GoPro (vibrant). Osmo is neutral. I like vibrant since the time I’ve been shooting slide film (I used Fuji velvia 50 and loved it’s vibrancy)

I bought the DJI Action 4, and tried 4k 60fps in an "cold enviroument" 16 degrees celsius not even in the sun, i tried all 3 fully charged batteries, newest firmware, and after 15minutes it shuts down because of overheating....:( im gonna send it back to amazon and buy the GoPro Hero 12 hope gopro dont overheat and shut down.....:(

Damn it, Danny, stop making complete sense and telling the truth! God, I hate that.
Don't you know that everyone wants the function of an $8,000 Full Frame camera with a high-end large lens in a tiny, lightweight, completely waterproof body, that can do close-ups w/ perfect bokeh, AND must have easy-to-edit 10-bit 8K to infinity, in a body that is also 100% BOMBPROOF, plus can run over an hour in an oven set at 300°F, all for less than $500! Sounds simple to me, despite the physics and laws of nature involved! C'mon, DJI and GoPro, just make it. We're waiting impatiently!
    (Great vid, as always, sir!)

I’m done with GoPro. After losing so many shots on hunts in cold weather and over heating in single digit temperatures, I’m done. Most of the time, you only get one take, one shot…not getting the shot is unacceptable.
