One of these was my first project when I got my first lathe last December and now having done a couple of others I find them really interesting to turn. My latest one is of Hawthorn, felled on the Wed. turned on the Sun. Currently hanging up drying in my garage and so far very little splitting to be seen. It may work, it may not but its fun to find out. I give it a occasional light spray of water but it will be 6 months before I know how its held up. My description is just to help anyone else who might be thinking of trying the same. Nice video.

Can you comment on how critical it is to originally mount the log in the exact center of the log?

In this instance, I don't find it too critical to mount in the exact centre, as I quite like the wings different sizes. If anything the width measurement is more important than the length one.

Lo strumento di levigatura della ciotola che utilizzo ha un sistema di velcro a strappo, quindi compro semplicemente dischi di carta vetrata da 50 mm da eBay. Cerca Dischi abrasivi da 50 mm. Grazie per la visione

why is sanding sealer "an absolute essential!" what does it do? why do you use it?

If you use a wax finish, then sanding sealer acts like a primer before apply the finish. A bit like an undercoat before painting. But if using an oil finish you don’t need a sealer. Thanks
