If you enjoy videos about mom and pop owned Filipino restaurants (carinderias) then please help me achieve my goal of eating at a carinderia in every barangay of the Philippines by subscribing and sharing and commenting!
Watching your videos makes me want to try all the small carinderias around our area in Malabon, although my mom cooks like she runs a carinderia when we're back home! 🤣🤣
Hi Kurt…… always love your vlog…. Ever since I first saw it in TH-cam and it mesmerized me how you able to enjoy life and help others 😊at the same time. Let’s keep it rolling and hopefully meeting you in person to congratulate for such a wonderful job. God Bless!!!
yes langka is jackfruit ... gata is coconut milk or coconut cream (kakang gata) thicker than cm . Thank you for show casing our country's this and that... I'm from SFO in and out na lang sa Phils. More Power to you Sir Kurt, great job!
Hi, You can do that with every ulam in the Philippines (Patis with Chili as Sawsawan), (Menudo, Caldereta, Bulalo, Mechado, Dinuguan, Adobo, Sinigang, ETC)
gata is coconut milk... they use young jackfruit (unripe) for that dish. try looking for ginataang gabi too. i like pairing vegetable dish with fried fish for a balanced meal. you should also have your fish, veggies and fruits the next time you visit a karinderya 😊👍
ginataang langka is young jackfruit cook with coconut milk pork meat, garlic union black paper and cooking oil of course. you can also add red and green bell paper.
Ginatqang Langka ingredients sautee chopped garlic, onion, ginger, u can use slices pork or shrimps, add sliced 1 lb young jackfruit, some add 1 Tbsp of bagoong or shrimp paste then add coconut milk 2 cans then let it cook then add siling pangsigang cook.for 30 mins
I hope some of our kababayanans know how to speak even the basic English, so they can response or explain in simple way or even in one word like what is the tagalog or english of this or that. Like sinigang, it's a tamarind soup. Langka is jackfuit, sawsaw is dip, patis is fish sauce. Kaya sa mga parents pilitin nyo po mapag-aral mga anak ntin kahit elementary lng sa public school. Basta matutunan po nila ang tamang pagbasa, pagsulat, at un mga tagalog english ng mga simpleng bagay.
*ganto dapat ang pina-follow* not just showing Philippines but he's serious about what he's doing.. Nag-aral talaga magsalita at makaintindi ng Tagalog. I'll go back here next year.. For sure million subs ka na non. Just subscribed to your channel now. Good luck po!
Yummy that Ginataang Langka . I miss eating that because I cannot buy fresh young unripe jackfruit here in the Virginia, DC, Maryland area. I just use other vegetables with coconut milk , I usually make Kale with coconut milk with ginger, lots of garlic and onion. Yum 😋😋
I love spending each day watching your video, thank you for giving me something to look forward to everyday. Ginataang lanka recipe = Raw Jackfruit, coconut milk, a little bagoong alamang for saltiness, optional chili pepper, some with pork or shrimp. Of course it varies on people making them.
@@tagalogkurt Oh yes, majority is just mixing the veggies. Bicol express that you ate is kinda same. The template usually is Coconut milk and mixed with bagoon alamang. I should make one for you :)
“Gata” is “coconut milk.” So, you were eating jackfruit with coconut milk. I guess that’s a Thai influence in the Philippines, most likely brought there by Thailand via trade with the Philippines long ago. That is similar to “kare kare,” which is the Filipino version of curry, brought to the Philippines by the Indians long ago. As you may already know, Filipino cuisine has many influences, including European (Spain), other Asian countries, and Arabic (Muslim). We are proud of the diversity of our people and cuisine! Mabuhay ka, TagalogKurt! 🙏😎🤩😍🥰
Try sosing’s karinderya next! It’s in zobel roxas corner dian st. Makati. Thats the neighborhood i grew up in. Best of luck kuya_kurt! Watching from durham, nc!
hello Kurt, We used to live on that street which is Honradez , barangay Olympia and our house is about 5 houses from that karinderya you featured. Very interesting to see how my neighbourhood has changed over the years. 'Gata' is coconut milk.So any viand or vegetable cooked with it is 'gi-na-ta-an'! Truth be told, your upload/s are a must view everyday!I am curious but TH-cam had just sent me the second survey! I was thinking because they are promoting TH-cam TV, they might be giving your channel a hard look! I hope that happens! By the way 'saw-sa-wan' is dipping sauce from the verb 'saw-saw' (dip). Also, you don't get that kind of rapport / bantering with the staff outside of 'Pinas. You're a man of the world! Good luck & Godspeed!

You have to wear a shirt that do not make you hot. Try buying those shirts that’s made for hot weather. Breathable fabrics like rayon, chambray, and certain types of silk are also good for hot weather as they absorb moisture quickly and allow sweat to evaporate, …😊😅😮
Oo nga! The funny thing is I bought all my shirts you see in the vlog at Dick's because they're supposed to be "breathable Cotton" and "moisture wicking" hahaha di pala!
Gatang (slow pronunciation) is measurement. Gatang (fast pronunciation) is short for ginataan or ginataang veggie of any kind. What you had there is Ginataang Langka. Gata is coconut milk only.
Kurt, you made them agree when you asked "Di ba Gata is Milk?". But actually you got them confused. Gatas is Milk. But Gata is Coconut Milk (acquired by squeezing the kinudkod na meat of an Old Coconut which we call Niyog). Buko is a Young Coconut, and we can't squeeze Gata from that.
I wish one Filipino family would invite you to a full native meal - preferably from every major region. You'd get a lot of the immersion you are seek as well as kick butt fresh truly home cooked grub and the warmest of hospitality. One should've come up with an invite by now, I am sure. Accept one. You'd never go wrong.
Gata is coconut milk. For the sinigang, suggest to taste it first, if it’s already delicious, there’s no need for dipping sauce. Head chef, maybe use punong tagaluto? We actually just say cook most of the time.

There is something that looks like jackfruit, but it is not. It is also cooked with coconut milk and it is called Camanse, it must be called bread fruit. Refrain from saying opo, if they are younger, because can sound cringy. Filipinos who always use opo to people younger than them can be deemed fake people.
