    Thanks to you. My Sicilian Great Grandmother taught me how to make Christmas cookies, bread, pizza, pasta, & ravioli. She would not teach me wine making as she said I was too young.
    Now! I can make wine that I can teach my children and one day my grandchildren.
    The traditions can continue.
    I am grateful to you.

      @@lishannicholasdsouza2261 it was delicious! The alcohol level wasn't too high; I guess my yeast was a little lazy... The taste was super good, with notes of pear/apple, sweet but not too sweet, slightly sparkling. It didn't taste at all like a commercial wine, but that's the beauty of it. I was very proud ;) This year, my grapes aren't going as well as last year because of the bad weather in NL, so I still haven't picked them yet. I will let you know if I retry the experience; I may also make juice.

    For those of you that haven't made wine and are wondering about how its fermenting, The answer is that yeast is naturally living on just about every surface including your skin. When you crush the grapes the wild yeast from the skins of the grapes is introduced into the sweet grape must, and begins to ferment it some strains of bacteria are also in the wine from the skins. Wild fermentations are not as reliable and you could easily end up with vinegar because the microbes are different every single year. I would recommend that you buy a packet of yeast from a winemaking shop for a couple of dollars tops for a much more reliable fermentation, the yeast you buy is the same as what's on the skin just cultured and reliable and not contaminated with random other microbes. Its cheap and will guarantee you make a good wine.

    • @pilsplease7561
      @pilsplease7561 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christianschmitt2409 Yeast is sold in standard packets as long as you are making 6 gallons or less put in the entire packet, if you make more just buy a few packets and add both of them.
      Its actually cheaper to buy wine yeast in 500gram bricks than it is to buy it in little packets and it keeps for years in the fridge or the freezer.

    Did you say at some point to get some air into the fermentation bucket bc its good for the yeast? Just wondering, I thought the process is anaerobic.

    • @ErikPattison
      @ErikPattison 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the fermentation process is anaerobic but at the start you need the yeast to multiply and they grow and divide better if there is some dissolved oxygen available.

    Hello my friend, is it possible for white wine to produce methanol instead of ethanol??

    • @Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato
      @Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      During wine production, methanol is produced in small quantities as a byproduct of alcoholic fermentation. Methanol mainly comes from the breakdown of pectins, substances found in the grape skins, especially during the fermentation of grapes with skins (as in red wine).
