  • “I don’t understand what possible justification there could be put forward for stamping on somebody’s head when they’re on the floor.”
Political strategist Jo Tanner calls on Manchester mayor Andy Burnham to "drive the issue until the truth comes out" following the release of a viral video depicting a police officer in Manchester kicking the head of a man in Manchester Airport.

Such a generic comment that doesn't say anything...
There's no excuse for this behaviour from the police.
It does not matter what happened 10 seconds ago or 10 minutes ago, in this moment in time the man is face down and surrendered on the floor.
You can't bottle up what happened 10 seconds ago and use it to attack someone and call it self defence, that already has a name and it's called revenge.
Revenge has no place in our society and especially not from a police officer, they have said he was in a flight or fight frame of mind, but this is not acceptable from the police.
The average man in the street may have a right to say that but a police officer is specifically trained and employed to go into potentially dangerous situations and act calmly and professionally.
I just want to put it out there that i am no bleeding heart liberal, and i absolutely despise Islam and the way Muslims act and what they think.
I am the last person in the world to come to the aid of the man on the floor but in this instance the officers are wrong, they would do this to anyone if they know they can get away with it.

On 23/07/2024 at the Manchester airport. Police officer came to arrest the Asian man in blue. As they put the handcuffs on him they pushed him onto the machine and started beating him. The abused Asian man had a friend/brother who was sat on bench and tried to push the abusive officers off but then the officers pulled their taser guns out and the first Asian lad (in blue) also reacted in self defence against the abusive police. During the scuffle the elderly mother seen in the video got punched in the face which rightfully caused the 2 Asian men to become more aggressive in defence of their elderly mother. A snippet of how violent and unnecessarily aggressive the officers became is seen in the video including a full swing kick with steel toe caps into the face of the tasered man on the floor. After this one of the officers intentionally punched elderly woman square in the face. So the Asian man in red told them ''what are you doing, you are hitting an old woman'', whilst he went to pick up her slippers

Imagine being this cop for a moment.
It's bedlam. You've just been violently assaulted. You're surrounded by an apparently hostile mob. 'ThEy DiDn'T Do AnYThiNG'. At least 2-3 people are yelling and shouting at you, and they might attack you next. You don't know how many people attacked you, because they hit you from behind. It could be two... could be more. You don't know if this is a terror attack. You don't know if they're armed, or were just throwing punches.
You don't know how your colleagues are doing... Are they injured? Do they still have possession of their weapons? Is anyone about to try and grab your weapon? Then, the guy on the floor starts to move after having being tasered. Is he going to get up and become violent again? Did the taser even work properly? (40% of the time, they fail).
You don't know what's going on, or what's about to happen, or from what direction you might be attacked next... So, if this guy on the ground is starting to move, he's getting a kick! That way, I stay upright, maintain control of my weapon, and have a better chance against anyone else that might try and attack me.
It was absolutely the right move by the police officer in this instance.

The police are employed by the people to uphold the law, not "enforce" it. There is a crucial difference. Upholding the law encompasses upholding the rights of the people as enshrined in the law.
Retaliatory violence of this nature - and which can easily cause permanent brain damage or death - is a total abuse of the badge and uniform. It is an extremely serious criminal offence. However, such is the corruption now throughout all stratas of our broken society that I fully expect it to be excused and covered up with the usual filthy obfuscation.

While I understand the circumstances surrounding this incident are abhorrent, it certainly appears the Officer had a momentary lapse in self control likely fuelled by adrenaline given the severity of the circumstance and the immediately previous fate of his colleagues.
However, unless a Training Manual somewhere specifies head kicks and head stamping as reasonable and justifiable force in particular circumstances, I think this officer is going to struggle to justify their actions in a Law Court.
On face value it certainly appears to be a momentary loss of self control and if this is the case, their suitability as a Firearms Officer should definitely be reviewed and all permissions to work as such suspended while this is pending.
Irrespective of the provocative circumstances, any strike to the head has a very high risk of long term consequences. I would be surprised if this is recommended under Police SOP's.
With all that said, I absolutely support the notion that the Police need to have the freedom to be heavier handed than is often displayed in recent years. They need to be able to be a deterrent that commands respect from all and robust Training and character scrutiny available so they can be as effective as possible. It certainly seems like they are more often that not asked to deal with violent and intimidating circumstances and asked to operate "with their hands tied behind their backs". We need to re-find the moderate ground where enough force is within their operating remit be be a significant deterrent to the majority of circumstances.
