Not entirely inaccurate but of course as Lita, Tamina Snuka, AJ Lee and others from before will show Paige was not the first to not have the "divas look". But the movie was telling the story she was, so having her face the champion, the top girl in the women's division who also didn't have the typical divas look contradicted that.
That was actually a good part of the production. I think if zelina didn’t have the inflection then it would have been a boiler plate promo which the movie had a bunch of already. But to let her cut that promo on that style helped tell the Hollywood narrative and give a slight nod for the wrestling fans. Best possible outcome.
In real life, while still angry at his rejection from WWE, Zak was actually a very good sport about it and went on to tag with Roy as the UK Hooligans. Also, Zak did get to appear on the November 2011 11th episode of SmackDown in a handicap match against Big Show.

Ricky Knight was absolutely part of those tribute shows. He portrayed Road Warrior Animal 😆 I owe a lot to the Knight family. I went to wrestle for a "major" international company that went bust, and had no idea what to do with my life. So I moved to the UK for a few months. They took me in, gave me regular work, and helped me out tremendously. I wrestled nearly every Knight family member on the camp shows. It was good fun. Seeing the movie was a real trip.

It's as cliche as it gets but with WWE branding to make it more legit. I mean replace wrestling with singing, skating, dancing and nothing would change. And they could avoid those cliches since the actual story isn't that far from what they showed. But they just had to put that Hollywood "magic" in it, didn't they?

I still remember being at the Staples Center when they filmed that Paige vs AJ match. It felt weird watching them just sorta “doing spots” in lieu of wrestling a match. I understood why, but seeing this after a long night of Raw? I left after about 5 minutes lol

Locally, theres a promotion here in Michigan that does teach kids as young as 7 to work and wrestle. They emphasize safety, discipline, and fitness in their program. I think it's a great idea, but they need to be careful as accidents happen.
There was some North America wrestlers who wrestle at the age of 13 like Piper for example and it's a comedy wrestling group in Japan but their was a 6 year old girl who wrestle for them

I kept waiting all movie for the part where Paige has her awesome match with Emma for the NXT Divas title. And then we were at Wrestlemania 30. I was a bit sad they treated her win over AJ as her first actual success in the company but overall, I enjoyed the movie.
Braveheart was inaccurate as hell (to the point where the title of the movie wasn't even the nickname of the character it was based on) and it's generally regarded as a classic. Movies don't need to be historically accurate to be good.
Zack's story is quite compelling in this. Plus that scene where Roy tells him that Paige got to where she was because she had someone like him, brilliant.
Literally everything Brian was complaining about was me during this movie, all of the continuity errors and impossibilities made me so mad the whole time
I'll indeed stick with the doc. There's just so much glossed over and misrepresented that they should have just changed all names and likenesses and created a similar story based on/inspired by.
I can understand why you're so confused and pissed off at the chronological inconsistencies in the film, but non wrestling fans won't know the difference, and modern WWE isn't made for wrestling fans.
It's always weird when WWE acts like any of their work is completely historically accurate even when they claim it's not 100% accurate they leave out some pretty important details. Nice choice for end music in what sounds like a slower version of Benoit's old music after talking about wrestling and family
Just remember, basically any media a wrestler puts out, they think will reach a non-wrestling audience. That's why you'll see wrestlers explain what a suplex is in their autobiography. They aren't banking on wrestling fans watching it, they think EVERYONE will want to watch it.
It just made me sad the way they messed with the story - the real story, and especially her debut on the main roster, were good on their own. No need to change them.
Except for the fact that she in real life had her WWE NXT title belt defamed with male bodily fluids. So, I'm not surprised that the movie glossed over her NXT run...
About the KOTR 2000 thing... To be fair, when I was a kid, I played old wrestling PPVs on videotape until they wore out and I know the entire show by memory. lol
I enjoyed the movie. Plus I like Paige's work as a wrestler and talent. It's really a shame injuries have gotten in the way of her career. For me the biggest down of the movie was Vince Vaughn. I just feel like he plays the same character in each of his movies (at least since Wedding Crashers) just his profession in each film is different. Since he was playing a fictionalized character, I think that role could have been played by someone else. Would have been more interesting to me if they cast one of the real WWE agents to take that part. May not have been "acted" better but I don't see it dragging the film down either.
I detest revisionist history, every single time they tried to make themselves look good or pretend that something didn't happen whatever it is Disney or WWE or any long-term company, the more my suspension of disbelief dies. I kept waiting all movie for the part where Paige has her awesome match with Emma for the NXT Divas title. And then we were at Wrestlemania 30. I was a bit sad they treated her win over AJ as her first actual success in the company but overall, I enjoyed the movie.

Movies don't need to be historically accurate to be good.
It is a not good retelling of the documentary, but a decent family drama film. 7.5/10

I can understand why you're so confused and pissed off at the chronological inconsistencies in the film, but non wrestling fans won't know the difference, and modern WWE isn't made for wrestling fans.
It's always weird when WWE acts like any of their work is completely historically accurate even when they claim it's not 100% accurate they leave out some pretty important details. Nice choice for end music in what sounds like a slower version of Benoit's old music after talking about wrestling and family

It just made me sad the way they messed with the story - the real story, and especially her debut on the main roster, were good on their own. No need to change them.

About the KOTR 2000 thing... To be fair, when I was a kid, I played old wrestling PPVs on videotape until they wore out and I know the entire show by memory. lol
I enjoyed the movie. Plus I like Paige's work as a wrestler and talent. It's really a shame injuries have gotten in the way of her career.
For me the biggest down of the movie was Vince Vaughn. I just feel like he plays the same character in each of his movies (at least since Wedding Crashers) just his profession in each film is different. Since he was playing a fictionalized character, I think that role could have been played by someone else. Would have been more interesting to me if they cast one of the real WWE agents to take that part. May not have been "acted" better but I don't see it dragging the film down either.
Brian Zane getting heckled in the ring was a classic wrestling with wregret moment.
WWE's revisionist history here reminds me of Disney's revisionism in Saving Mr. Banks. So if Disney can do it, so can Vince!
