I honestly believe that the real factor that set McMahon off into trying to be a movie mogul was the surprise success of Roddy Piper in John Carpenter's "They Live". Of all members of the old WWF roster, Piper's role had people calling him an up and coming star and Vince was astonished that the middle aged heel could be SO DAMN popular, and nobody paid Hogan a bit of notice. A year later: Hogan was in the official first WWF movie, "No Holds Barred". And the public agreed with the Hulkster about the smell of that amazing picture. "Dookey!"
I still hold See no evil 2 in high regard. It’s a neat slasher in the likes of Hatchet. A tribute to the yesteryears of Horror… done properly unlike the first film. The characters and actors are fun, Kane as Jacob is awesome, the kills are brutal, and the final two kills are severely unexpected along with the ending. They did a good job on that one
Fighting with my Family counts right? I’m surprised he didn’t bring it up in here, thought it was really good despite it not being 100% accurate to Paige’s career🤷♂️
I’d say the two best movies I’ve seen from WWE Studios were The Condemned and Oculus. Haven’t ever got around to watching 12 Rounds but I think I might one day just for the hell of it
Here in Belgium there's a television network that does this 'Hollywood Night' thing every thursday in which they're showing the 'coolest' blockbusters. And every thursday it's one of the wwe movies like The Marine 4 or that police movie with Edge and Lana. I swear Vince has a contract with a random a§s belgian channel and if it's not WWE it's some Steven seagal movie
I just had to listen cause I know WWE Studios is still around and deals with Netflix, GSN and other networks, so technically its not a failure since it's still in the positive.
I haven't watched wrestling in like 4-5 years now but this came up in my feed. I remembered going out my way when I was very obsessed at age 12 to watch 12 Rounds, because it was showing on TV one night. Dolph Ziggler being there was really surprising, I really wanted to watch a wrestler act in a film lmao 😭 AND OH MY GOD SANTA'S LITTLE HELPER TOO. Remembering that film existing gave me strange flashbacks that made my head actually ache for a bit
If Eddie wouldn’t have passed away I think he would have gone into movies . He was so naturally funny and charismatic. He could have easily saved WWE Films
i never got around to seeing "see no evil" but i saw "see no evil 2" only because it was directed by the Soska Sisters, who had done great work previously. and had Danielle Harris and Katherine Isabelle in the cast. but man it was boring, cheap looking, felt like they cut corners at every opportunity. maybe the budget was cut at the last minute or maybe they had to shoot the whole movie in like 12 days but holy shit it was bad.
No One Lives (2012) is my favourite WWE film and one of my favourite horror films period. It stars Luke Evans as the lovechild of Jigsaw and Patrick Bateman and it's glorious and gory. Oh and also Brodus Clay was in it for a few minutes.
My favs from WWE are the original Marine, 12 Rounds, Legendary and The Reunion. Plus, you didn't mention Fighting with My Family, which they also produced and I actually really enjoyed.
I agree about the movies but the cartoons ain't that bad. A little cheesy but very well written and original compared do the real life action ones. Loved the Scooby Doo and Flinstones spin-off
The only WWE movie I fully watched was The Condemned and I loved it, it was "The Hunger Games starring Stone Cold Steve Austin", what wasn't there to love? I also remember the "May 19th storyline" for See No Evil and how much it scared me.
Unfortunately, Condemned came out before Hunger Games films, so marketing couldn't bank on that to sell the movie as, you know, avid young adult readers weren't the target of the flick.
@@lukeripa Actually, what if the Hunger Games was actually based on The Condemned? I know it's actually based on Battle Royale, but it's still funny to think about lol.
It’s nice that at 11 minutes in you finally acknowledge that movies make money through other means, although you don’t seem to really grasp how large of a market rentals were. Oculus is also notable for being a Mile Flanagan film, who has gone on to make some truly great products for Netflix.
Actually, The Marine was a success at the box office (despite mixed reviews). The only 3 movies WWE Films flopped in theaters were See No Evil, The Condemned, and 12 Rounds. At least both Cena films were very underrated, See No Evil just didn't aged well because it's still not a good horror movie.
Who remembers when that one backstage segment when Triple H threatened The Miz (who was with Damien Mizdow) that “Miz if you ever barge into my office, barking orders at me again, your little straight-to-DVD career goes straight to the unemployment line!) 😂 cuz HHH buried his own movie department in WWE Studios
The Condemned was criminally underrated. I've always felt Austin n Dean Ambrose had tremendous potential to make it big, Austin especially is a far better entertainer, can be great with both serious as well as comical roles, just like the Rock. He should've at least gone much further than Cena n Batista.
In all fairness Batista was featured in the highest grossing movie of all time and has even carved out a place for himself as a beloved character in Drax. I find Dave far more enjoyable in movies than Cena or Rock tbh but that’s just my opinion
@@FishJesus420 Yeah I'm talking about who is objectively doing better of course. Dwayne has carried many blockbusters on his own and is currently the second highest paid actor in Hollywood. Very few A listers can match The Rock with his energy, promotions, interviews, social media.

@@leofangd8501 yeah Cena belongs in a ring imo. But that Hollywood money be treating him well so good for him. And everyone talks about the make a wish thing and acknowledge it’s a great thing he does but the affect that must have on him mentally must be taxing. He knows these kids don’t have much longer and he meets with them to have a personal interaction getting to know them. Their hopes, dreams, aspirations knowing full well they’re gonna die soon. I will always respect him for that

The Call was actually a pretty decent movie to be honest. They should've just named the studio something else instead of having that stigma attached to it!

I remember only up to 12 Rounds. After that, they only promoted The Marine 2 for a bit, but I can’t remember them advertising anything else after that. Well.. that I can remember!
The resurrection of Gavin stone was a really good movie. The only thing wrong with it was the advertising. Rowdy Roddie Piper was the best actor to come from the wwe period. They live is a classic.

Yo that’s crazy I had no idea Robert Patrick was in the marine movie, 16 years later they’re together again in the peacemaker series, that’s great
See No Evil was a pretty good movie. I think the movie would of worked if it was made in the 80's with the other slasher type movie.
"Dookey!"
I always wanted to watch See No Evil as a kid Kane had like the perfect role in that movie and that trailer looked insane as a kid
There was a sequel?
I personally didn't like the 2nd one, but thought the first was ok
Love hatchet
Fascinating to learn how poorly Condemned did in theaters, my friend and I saw it when we were younger and enjoyed it but I haven't seen it since.
The later Marine movies were decent, though. I also could say that I saw 12 Rounds in theaters.
Whenever I watch your videos I feel like I'm going back in time to my childhood 😅 Keep up the good work
It’s a good day when pav uploads
I know!
fun fact:
robert patrick is now peacemaker's father on tv series
It’s come full circle
I just had to listen cause I know WWE Studios is still around and deals with Netflix, GSN and other networks, so technically its not a failure since it's still in the positive.
I came across a movie called "Buddy Games" that they were involved with, if only because they featured Sheamus as a pawnbroker.
Seeing people's admiration for Vince Mcmahon is eye-opening.
The condemned is one of my all time favourites, love the movie from start to finish
I haven’t seen it in forever but I remember loving “Legendary” with Cena and Danny Glover.
The Rundown and Oculus are genuinely great films. They have a bunch of duds, but I’m grateful for those 2 great films.
oculus was great and decently regarded... yet no one besides you and or two others is mentioning it here
Honestly while they might not be Hollywood Blockbuster movies I really enjoyed The Marine,12 Rounds,See No Evil and The Condemned
See No Evil was awesome! I just loved getting to see Kane as a sadistic killer! Also The Condemned and Fighting With My Family we're both awesome
I haven't watched wrestling in like 4-5 years now but this came up in my feed. I remembered going out my way when I was very obsessed at age 12 to watch 12 Rounds, because it was showing on TV one night. Dolph Ziggler being there was really surprising, I really wanted to watch a wrestler act in a film lmao 😭
AND OH MY GOD SANTA'S LITTLE HELPER TOO. Remembering that film existing gave me strange flashbacks that made my head actually ache for a bit
The Call is my favorite. I love See No Evil just because I love horror but it’s really not that bad. I didn’t even know Oculus was a WWE produced film
If Eddie wouldn’t have passed away I think he would have gone into movies . He was so naturally funny and charismatic. He could have easily saved WWE Films
Bingo’ .. Eddie was made for the media / movie transition (RIP) ..
i never got around to seeing "see no evil" but i saw "see no evil 2" only because it was directed by the Soska Sisters, who had done great work previously. and had Danielle Harris and Katherine Isabelle in the cast. but man it was boring, cheap looking, felt like they cut corners at every opportunity. maybe the budget was cut at the last minute or maybe they had to shoot the whole movie in like 12 days but holy shit it was bad.
No One Lives (2012) is my favourite WWE film and one of my favourite horror films period. It stars Luke Evans as the lovechild of Jigsaw and Patrick Bateman and it's glorious and gory.
Oh and also Brodus Clay was in it for a few minutes.
I didn’t mind SEE NO EVIL, I enjoyed it honestly.
I still love Marine 1, 12 rounds, Rundown, Walking Tall, and Scorpion King. They're good to me dam it
My favs from WWE are the original Marine, 12 Rounds, Legendary and The Reunion. Plus, you didn't mention Fighting with My Family, which they also produced and I actually really enjoyed.
Also, The Rundown (AKA Welcome To The Jungle in international markets like the UK where I'm from) is my favourite Rock movie.
Second is Scorpion King.
I agree about the movies but the cartoons ain't that bad. A little cheesy but very well written and original compared do the real life action ones. Loved the Scooby Doo and Flinstones spin-off
The scooby doo movie I enjoyed actually lol
When Pav drops a video I drop my responsibilities 😂
The dark side of Tubi...
Lol
What do you mean
@@jaredbingham9018 practically all these movies are on that joint
The only WWE movie I fully watched was The Condemned and I loved it, it was "The Hunger Games starring Stone Cold Steve Austin", what wasn't there to love? I also remember the "May 19th storyline" for See No Evil and how much it scared me.
Unfortunately, Condemned came out before Hunger Games films, so marketing couldn't bank on that to sell the movie as, you know, avid young adult readers weren't the target of the flick.
@@lukeripa Too ahead of its time.
@@lukeripa Actually, what if the Hunger Games was actually based on The Condemned? I know it's actually based on Battle Royale, but it's still funny to think about lol.
I thought the Chaperone, Legendary, and Knucklehead were in theaters but they were only there for 2 weeks, then were on Netflix and DVD right after
Ya knucklehead was funny as hell as a kid, I remember when the dad came back home and started yelling at everyone and big show speared him 🤣🤣
It’s nice that at 11 minutes in you finally acknowledge that movies make money through other means, although you don’t seem to really grasp how large of a market rentals were. Oculus is also notable for being a Mile Flanagan film, who has gone on to make some truly great products for Netflix.
Could WWE Studios score an Academy Award nomination?
In the words of Vince McMahon…
NO CHANCE IN HELL!
The Marine 4, 5 and 6 were pretty good to me. Miz was pretty dope.
Imagine if WWE decided to reboot a classic: Ready to Rumble in 2022 😂😂😂 just saying
Lol
This isnt disney
I actually enjoyed The Condemned a lot, surprised that it bombed at the box office
Same, but tbf Austin is a bad actor. He literally just used his wrestling gimmick lmao
@@leofangd8501 oh yeah the rock is great and a very stand up guy given the position he’s in. He seemingly hasn’t let it go to his head at all and he exudes a humble confidence that not many in Hollywood have.
@@FishJesus420 True, he's very likeable as a person, that's why he has lasted so long. Like Cena wants to get to that spot so bad, puts in so much effort and still no one outside WWE cares. Its hilarious how Batista being a laid back chill guy got so far ahead of him without even trying that hard.
I will always respect him for that
The Marine movies are equivalent to the Sharknado movies 😭
The only WWE movie that I actually liked was The Marine 1. Everything else has no right to exist.
Facts
LMFAOOOO FR
The call was fire
Oculus was also pretty good
The condemned wasn’t too bad
I kinda of feel like the world needs a studio like the WWE, its gives everyone in the movie making business a chance and experiences to start their careers. We cant all go from college to making a hit blockbuster like Avenger's End game, there always needs to be stepping stones.
Wow, never thought of it!
I actually liked some of the Wwe movies it's a joy trying to find the good ones and fun to laugh at the bad ones
No mention of Fighting with my Family? That movie was amazing!!!
It's amazing to see how early John Xina's career as a tool began.
The three og movie I remember were the marine , see no evil and the condemned! The first wwe I ever saw was See No Evil which is great 8/10 and it’s scary .
I liked See No Evil. I haven't watched 90% of the others though.
you listing off the nine Marine movies made me want to binge watch them lmfaoo...
14minutes of bliss🔥
Loved The Marine & 12 Rounds WWE movies weren't perfect but they gave us our favorite stars in some cool roles
Not gonna lie, I used to watch the hell out of The Marine & 12 Rounds that starred John Cena (even though both of them were terrible) when I was a kid but that's literally it, other WWE produced movies suck worst than anything. 😭😭😭
I think I've determined my favorite Wrestlingifs quote. "What a time to be alive" just makes everything from around then seem top tier which compared to now it is
The Call was actually a pretty decent movie to be honest. They should've just named the studio something else instead of having that stigma attached to it!
Never knew there was like 50 or so WWE movies and that they’re making more that’s in development now. Also never knew Jingle all the Way 2 was WWE Movies. I just watched it for the holidays! I remember only up to 12 Rounds. After that, they only promoted The Marine 2 for a bit, but I can’t remember them advertising anything else after that. Well.. that I can remember!
See no evil is low key one of the best horror movies
I remember watching The Condemned and The Chaperone as a kid and liking them so much for some reason
I saw the OG three wwe films with friends at the theater but probably the only good one they've made is The Call
Given the rumor that Vince wanted to show Kane's you know what (three feet), of course he'd hire such director for See No Evil.
Can confirm, when you're 12, a lot of movies are better than you remember.... lol
When I first saw the intro for John CenA The Marine, I hadn’t cringed so bad in my life.
It wasn’t that bad but it was bad…if that makes sense to you
The resurrection of Gavin stone was a really good movie. The only thing wrong with it was the advertising. Rowdy Roddie Piper was the best actor to come from the wwe period. They live is a classic.
Never knew WWE actually attempted to get into Hollywood
The three films I enjoyed that had wwe superstars was 12 rounds, marine 3 homefront and the chaperone
