For people who want to get a bigger machine but can't or don't want to move out of their garage, a good way of getting around that is to pour a really thick slab that's like 10 foot by 5 foot up against the garage and after the machine gets delivered spend the next 24 hours building a little extension to your garage.
It solves the weight problem, the vibration/anchoring problem, the height problem. But most importantly it saves you like 500 bucks a month you can spend on tooling, which you are gonna need on a new machine.

Please look at how much the renishaw parts are BEFORE agreeing to a quote to add them to the machine. They are very easy to install and the machine makers add HUGE markup on them. I added a tool probe like yours, TS27R, for 800$, just needs wiring into a connector in the elec cabinet. Even the OMP sets you can get for around 4K from Renishaw when they want 10K to add it to the machine in the quote.

Brother Speedio s700x2 and a trotec speedy 360 coming into my garage in a month lol its terrifying for sure, but im confident. I pushed the shit out of my Tormach 770m the last 2 years and I am making the last payment next week and its mine! Great feeling! I doubled my sales 2 years in a row with it, built up my credit score, hired my buddy, and made tons of parts, but after the first 6 months I haven't been able to get ahead, and need to step up big to meet demand. Congrats paying off the Mori! You Are about 5 years ahead of me so its been awesome to watch and visibly see where I want to be in 5 years. Keep crushing it man! Im picking up a Norseman to reward myself if I hit all my goals this year and so far its looking like I will, super stoked!

This was incredibly insightful and helpful. Thanks for sharing your thoughts John... We are getting to a point where I think we are going to outgrow the tormachs soon... The scary part for me is not the machine investment but the investment in real estate to house the machine... I guess we need to trust the projections I've put together and just jump. Been looking at the VF2 SS thinking that I could potentially scale to multiple machines and have a consistent and fairly inexpensive path. I really like the thought of the machines running at night and parts, tools, shipping, prototyping and cleanup happening during the day... Let the robots work when you're not there.

18:38 I would highly recommend hydraulic or shrink fit holders for your tiny endmills. The runout on an ER collet can be fairly significant, especially with prolonged or rough use. I've seen some beat up ERs have .005" runout. That might not matter on a 3/4" roughing endmill, but can be huge on a .093" finisher.
Shrink fit or Rego-Fix powRgrip type holders require an investment in support hardware, so I'd personally go with hydraulic for your application. As a bonus, changing out broken tools is faster with hydraulic than any of the others including ER.

    • @ChristophPech

At least in my country it would be because of tax write-off. If I buy a machine I can write off a percentage of it every year for a specific period of time. But if I lease it instead I write off the leasing costs directly. In this case here the write off period for buying would probably be ten years, with the lease it could be shortened to five. In the end it would not save me taxes overall but earlier on.

Replacement signal lights from china are ~40$... US/European prices of these are bs

I've seen videos where people buy them in china.
But can you actually just plug them into a machine?
Like is there soldering or do you have to be proficient in reading electrical schematics?

I guess crimping new connectors/soldering is better than paying 700$ more for the proper one
I guess you mean the video from strange part's

@@alexanderr6106 I'm not worried about the cost of labor in figuring out how to get it working. (even if you are worth $75/hr there is no way it's taking 10 hours)
I would be worried I'd do something wrong and fry the board, God only knows how much that would cost.

@@kkknotcool it's a common ground and a + for each led. It runs on 24v so not too much potential to fuck it up.
      I feel your point tho.

Any chance you could upload your videos to Rumble or Bitchute? I've been a big fan for a long time, but I'm trying to avoid using TH-cam as much as I can these days. I'm not a fan of the whole cancel culture thing.... You can still earn revenue from Ads on those sites as well from what I understand, although probably not as much as TH-cam...

The cancel culture thing has soured me on TH-cam, too. The transition to other platforms will unfortunately be slow.

I definitely agree. But TH-cam is still a much smoother app to use sadly.

i guess it's more of a status symbol. a knife is a tool, same as a car, yet some people still spend 200k+ on one car, so here it shouldn't be too different. besides, unless he inherrited a lot or has some other buisnesses and investments we don't know about, they are selling, and not just one here and there, but large enough quantities.
