Tried this on my 10 year old and he probably got the best hair cut of his life. Thank you!!
you are most welcome, well done
I have been cutting my children's hair the last 7 years. This is a really good tutorial on just using scissors. Very therapeutic watching
You are so welcome! Thank you
I’m an apprentice barber in Aus. Our shop is old school and we cut with the same scissor lift technique. Your detail and explanation has really filled in the gaps for me. Ty 🙏
I’m glad you are finding useful info in the videos. How far into your apprenticeship are you?
@@theoneminutebarber I’m about 15 months into it now.
Ciao buona giornata!!!!
@@theoneminutebarber How long your scissor in this video? 6 inche or 5,5 inche? Thanks, good luck👌👌👏
Love your hair explanation on technique, I'm a 46yi Junior Barber of 10mnths working, just over a year licensed. Working out of a franchisee type place to tune iny skills and teach that next level and I'm constantly watching You and a couple other guys to constantly strive to get better. ( Oh..... And I'm a former Firefighter/Captain, EMT that has broken his wrist and had shoulder surgery) so the things you've shown has given me the ability to sharpen my cuts because there's ways that I can't hold hair that is taught in school but I struggle with. So, thank you.... A million times!!
You sir, have just demonstrated the PERFECT pixie cut for a woman. Nobody, and I mean nobody, knows how to cut hair on either a woman, or a man in our area. I always end up with "corners," which I have to cut, and add texture myself, after every single haircut. Was told I have "cowlicks" when I point out the uneveness. The SECTIONING is indispensible for this cut, but nobody has any idea what that means, or how to do it. I wish you lived closer. Your clients are in good hands!
Thank you so much, well if you are ever visiting the north of Scotland I’d be happy to cut it for you.
Mostly nobody knows how to cut hair these days…
@@LilXancheX they don't teach them. I have a friend whose daughter went to the Paul Mitchell school. Out of 20, only 2 graduated. The girl was self motivated, and self taught from youtube tutorials. Teachers at the school didn't teach them anything....if they ever came to class.
@@simonamichaels232Pretty much, yeah. I went to hair school in Florida in 2021. Because of pandemic restrictions, we were a “hybrid class” the first semester, which meant half the week was online only. The second semester, we could work on classmates and the few teachers who were willing, but that was pretty much it as far as human clients. We had three mannequins each. Florida has no practical exam either, so we were taught to pass the computer state board exams, and that was about it 😅 I did great with the bookwork. Now, I’m still trying to figure out how to actually do hair. Please, have patience with us new hairstylists. Some of us are really trying to learn.
@@emilyh3412 sounds horrible, both for the students, and future clients. Was that for haircuts only, or color as well?
I’ve been cutting my husband and my kids’ hair for forever. I don’t really know what I’m doing, but I’ve gotten pretty good with clippers. I’m so happy to have found your channel! My son has been wanting his hair longer than what clippers can do but I’ve just never been good with scissors. Thank you for making these videos! They help!
Welcome to the channel, I really hope they do help
I have been cutting my husbands hair since COVID thanks to you!! I rewatch these scissor cut tutorials every time ! Thank you so much for your great teaching!!
You are so welcome! Thank you
I've been cutting my family's hair for 16years. Always have struggled with the fringe section. After watching this I can finally conquer the hardest part of the hair cut and make it look good. My family thanks you from the bottom of their hearts
Glad I could help! If you use this technique it should make life a lot easier on the fringe.
The fringe covers my large forehead ❤
I've seen so many videos of barbers teaching only faded like it's the only thing they heal to do, you really have shown yourself to be an old school barber, which very few exist. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. A big hug mate.
I appreciate that! Thank you so much 😊
Wow, I can't thank you enough. Your videos are so simple and practical, yet I learn so MUCH! It's all in the little details.
I’m happy to have brightened your day. Thank you 😊
Lol never cut hair in my life. For some reason this got recommended to me and I ended up watching the whole thing.
You’ve found your calling
Start cutting homie ✂️
Same for me except I have used clippers on my brother's, husband, and son's hair. I'd like to learn to use scissors.
It’s strangely satisfying to watch
I used this technique for my first day working as a junior barber at a high end shop in nyc, the client was so happy! Thank you!
That is awesome! And well done on the new job role. 🙌🙌🙌
Your methodology is very helpful. I cut my 16 year old grandson’s hair yesterday. Your videos made things much easier. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
I could have used this a week ago when I cut my son's hair! I wish I had found you sooner. My son's autistic so he has issues with other people touching him sometimes, especially with haircuts, so I've been trying to find a good tutorial for a long time. Thank you for what you do!
You are most welcome I hope it helps
Did my apprenticeship in hairdressing 15 years ago. I gave it up not long after. I have recently decided to do some barbering. Have been practicing on a few friends lateley, have not had anyone with this type of length requiring a scissor cut. This video and others you have are all very informative.
I hope you enjoy learning barbering, I could never be a hairdresser, don't have the patience
I love videos like this, consice and simple instead of a gatekeeping approach that makes it seem like you need 10 different products and an araenal of equipment.
I've been cutting my own hair and a few others since the pandemic. I'm far from perfect with it, but thanks to videos like these, I'm able to have them walk out of my house with a respectable cut and continue to refine techniques.
This was very helpful and I learned a lot. You definitely simplified this basic haircut for me to be able to do a better job on my husband's haircut.
I'm glad it helps and to now its simplified. I always want to make it as simple as I can
I like your video, this give me an idea of how to do it right. But I need to watch several times until it sinks in naturally / automatically 😅
Im taking care of seniors, and they would request a haircut
Thank you
I'm confident I can do my husband's hair like this now. Thank you!
Hope it goes ok Susan, let me know how it goes
I wanna learn how to use sheers to cut hair and I’m thankful to have stumbled upon your videos this is so amazing
I’m a semi-former stylist, so yes, I’m still cutting hair for some, but it still fun to see how a barber does haircutting vs how stylists were trained and how we’ve always done it.
I’ve always loved cutting more than anything. I should have gone into barbering instead of Cosmetology. 😊
Are you cutting men’s hair much? With a bit of practice these techniques are quite easy
@@theoneminutebarber I am no longer licensed, which was stupid on my part. I should’ve kept up a retired license, when I was done working in a salon, but I procrastinated. So now it’s just friends and family, but yes, a few men and boys.
I’m cutting three boys tomorrow, in fact. If they don’t get clipper cuts, I may try this! I’ve always used my comb and shears for blending, not the comb in place of my fingers, unless it’s a clipper comb used for flat tops and such.
Does that make sense? 😊
Perfect sense. If you can, at least try a few sections using this method. Its a great thing to learn
I’ve been apprenticing as a barber for the last couple of months, and I just want to drop in and say thank you for all your videos! I’m learning so much watching you! I love how you explain everything your doing in a simple way!!!
I’m happy to hear that Marvin. Most of what I show is basic stuff but it’s worth trying it persistently.
Absolutely enjoy watching your teachings through these videos. You're an amazing speaker and illustrator when editing your work.
You've really educated me with my "shear game" so much that it's given me confidence to increase my clientele along with the enjoyment of cutting hair again. Thank you
Thanks so much 😊 I always love to hear comments like that and it’s good to know the knowledge is being applied. I hope you can pass it on to others too one day
My husband loves the at-home haircuts I give, but he does not love how long it takes me. This video is so helpful. Cutting without tension to start is goong to save me a lot of time.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you ☺️
I’ve just started really focusing on my scissor over comb technique at cosmetology school and this video is exactly what I needed to pull it all together! Thanks so much for sharing!!! 🤩😀
I'm so glad! Thank you 😊
I’m not a barber I just find this videos so relaxing and satisfying it’s ridiculous! I’m weird😂
Welcome!! Maybe it is your calling in life 😁😁😁
The accent, the nice scissor moves, total ASMR 😌
😊 thank you
Thank you - I am a mum who ended up cutting her boys and husbands hair in lockdown - one of my sons and husband now want me to do it every time ! I dread it as neither like clippers ! So I am using scissors- I enjoyed the first few times and got lucky ! But I have absolutely no clue and Itime I use a mixture of methods each time just hoping that it turns out ok! Just wish I had your videos then ! About to do sons hair and will use this video as you explain it so well ! I find the diagrams really useful . As you can see where to go. My sons hair is very thick ! And i have felt a lot of presssure ! But this video will really help - thank you for sharing this 😊
I hope it helps let me know how you get on.
Well , it’s the best haircut I have managed to do. You still make it look very easy though ! i kept your video on- it took at lot longer, so I wil finish some bits off later ( my son gets a bit impatient. ) also the chair was too high as I’m quite short so the top needs a bit of a tidy. But I felt so confident in knowing how to cut and also where to go next. It’s very therapeutic. My sons hair is very thick and much longer than your models and I am really pleased . And not scared to try again. Can’t thank you enough!
I’ve been cutting for three years and these are really great videos and yes, I am really enjoying them and getting a lot out of them. Thank you!
I’m glad to hear that. There will be lots more to come
I'm not a barber but Wow, someone made a video that makes sense! I didn't even have audio on and could understand the visuals 🙌
I have mixed curly haired and straight hair kids and I honestly struggle with straight hair so much! Now I can make my straight haired kids as fresh as my curly haired kids. Thank you for this video! 💯
Tank you so much. Im glad it helped 😀
Great job, both cutting and explaining your process. I’m a cosmetologist who has begun cutting men’s hair recently, so this is an excellent primer. Many thanks for sharing!
You are most welcome. There is lots of variety on the channel/different types of cuts so you’ll find plenty of useful info here.
I’m cosmetologist and am intrigued by the barber way of cutting men’s hair. I’m going to try this technique on my boys hair first before clients.
Good luck!! Let me know how you get on.
Looks good, like a texture rather than just flat.
Why was this so satisfying to watch? I'm not a hairdresser or a barber!! 😅
You must have barbering in your bones somewhere
I just wanted to comment to say thank you so much! My fiance gets his hair cut by his mother usually because usually people dont know how to cut with scissors only and I did it for him today thanks to your videos!!
You are so welcome! I hope it went well. Are you his new barber now?
Just did this as best i could on my toddler who despises haircuts. So basically i did this cut on a bucking bronco, and though it was the speed and zero fine tuning version, this video was very helpful to give him the least bad haircut he can have. 😅 thank you!
Welcome to the club. Cutting toddlers hair can be pretty lively. Well done
I am not a professional, I only cut my husband's hair. Your videos are very clear and I have learned a lot. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Really great tutorial and massively appreciated. I came to barbering at 54 after a long career in the police services. Your manner and style of teaching is soooo good and a joy to watch. Thank you. Michael :-)
That is awesome! I really admire anyone who makes a complete change of career it’s such a leap. But I bet you enjoy cutting hair
I love this 😊
Awesome 👏🏻 I struggle with scissors cutting but I really learn a lot with your videos. Love your channel ❤ Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏻
Thanks for watching Paulina and I am glad its useful😊

I'm a licensed barber and own my shop and still enjoy learning. This video was very very easy to follow and you explained exactly how and why you cut each section. Thank you!!!!
👋 welcome. Tell me about your shop. Where is it? How long have you been in business?
my shop is in Pittsburgh PA called CynCityCutz Barber Lounge. We just hit our 3 year mark on May 1st!!!
Hey congrats on three years. That’s a great milestone 🎂
Srsly this is sooo helpful! More scissor cuts please!!! This is helping me a lot. Keep it up and soon ill be confident doing this completely by myself.
Thank you Judith, I have a lot of scissor tutorials on my channel where you could learn many techniques
Thank you for these videos I’m learning to cut my sons hair but he has a lot of hair so is much heavier and thick but your videos are helping me alot!! You are amazing at explaining and doing this type of work 🙏🏼
You are so welcome! And thank you 😊
Yes! I'm cutting my brother's hair and his hair is SO much thicker than the model here. I'd love a tutorial on dealing with ultra thick and course (texture) hair.
The haircut looks beautiful!
This as well as many other of your videos are so helpful.
I cut my husband's and son's hair and your videos have helped me gain more confidence and helped them love their haircuts! Thank you!
You are so welcome I’m glad I can help 😁
I have enjoyed your video immensely. I took my hair stylist back in 1978 and I love watching a person that really knows what they are doing. So yes I’m old lol so I have also seen many poor cuts. Keep up the great work you have me as a full time subscriber.🥰
You are so welcome! And welcome to the channel.
Благодарю!!!! Вы мне очень помогли 👍
😊 thank you
Love the way you cut the hair I wanna learn to cut my husband s hair
I hope it helps
I took my 3 year old to have his hair cut and they did a terrible job with the sides and fringe.
Although I have cut his hair in the past, this video helped me greatly to fix his hair and looks great. Thanks!
glad to hear it 😀
Im from the Philippines 🇵🇭 your technique is really good. I appreciate it very much. Thank you for sharing your technique. By the way im freelance hairstylist here in my country.
❤❤❤
You are so welcome! And welcome to the channel
Just about to graduate a 600 hr restricted barber course (no chemical services) in Florida.
My teacher showed me this form of scissor over comb cutting and like you said it has become second nature or muscle memory at this point.
Super excited to get my license and get out in the shops 💪🏻💈
Congratulations on passing your course I wish you all the very best
@@theoneminutebarber thank you so much! I keep watching your videos an learning more and more each time 🙏🏻
I have no idea what they're teaching your average barber on the street, but it ain't this. It's difficult to find a competent one these days.
Great video 👍
Thank you 😊
Been watching you since I started barber school over a year ago, and continue now still in the shop. I have your Udemy classes and follow you on IG. The amount of work you put into these videos is amazing. Not to mention what you contribute to the barber community. You are appreciated sir 🙏🏽
Thanks so much Ryan, I’m not going to lie video is a lot of work. I do enjoy it though but wouldn’t advise it as a quick route to success, it’s taken a long time to gain any traction making these tutorials
@@theoneminutebarber well you make it look easy sir!
I’ve been cutting my boys’ hair for years, but have never done the entire thing with scissors like this. You made this look so easy! I’m going to try this method next time!!! Thank you!!!
I do make it look easy, please don’t give up if you aren’t too smooth on the first attempt. I think this needs to be repeated at least ten times before it starts getting easy.
Overall, your video was very helpful. I wish you had shown the final polish around the front. It looks like you used the finishing clippers there, too? Also, is there a way to determine the correct length? I cut my husband’s very thick hair and if I’m not careful, cutting it too short makes it look like a carpet. Thank you.
I have a small confession, I never intended to make a tutorial out of this video, it was supposed to be an entirely ASMR video, however decided it was good to turn into a tutorial, that said, the little trimmer is really noisy for an asmr type video so at the time I never filmed the trimmer work around the sides. Fo your husbands hair you need to decide on the length that is required to keep a bit of movement in it, and when you make your first cut try not to lose that guide. Maybe start with something just a little longer than usual and each time you cut it you can adjust to a shorter length in needed
@@theoneminutebarber thank you for the tip on my husband’s hair. How nice of you!!
@@theoneminutebarbervery helpful, thank you! Same situation! 😊
I don't think so good you using comb and hair trimmer .
Why do you think so?
I was a barber for 62 years. Just retired. Great job, and teacher. Leave a suggestion. When you taper the back bottom or the head. It should be more of a fine taper. Use a smaller come.that will make it look like a master barber hair. It now looks a little like a girls haircut who did not go to barber school. Also a haircut we always did in 15 minutes. To make money that,s what you have to do. Keep at it. You,ll be a good barber. The best, Paul sterner. Ottsville, Pa.
Great tip! Thanks Paul
I've always buzzed my boys hair when they were little but now that they are teenagers they are a more fussy 😂 and I have been still cutting their hair at home but I bought a nice pair of scissors only for haircuts and a comb and I am learning how to cut like this scissor over comb method. This is an excellent video for me to learn by. Thank you very much!
Glad it helps. With a bit of practice this will become very easy.
thankyou im an apprentice at a old school barber in singapore this is really helpful
I absolutely love this hair cut and the technique is simple thanks so much for this lesson
Great technique! I like it. Easy, fast, accurate 👏
This really helps me with cutting my son's hair! I appreciate your videos so much! Thank you!
You are so welcome! Thanks for tuning it
Thanks for the tour well appreciated I know fades but know nothing of scissor cut, the section break down was straight forward
My pleasure and glad it helps
I've only ever buzzed my sons hair. I've watched your videos a few times now and I have now worked up the courage to try it on my 6yr old. I'll let you know how it goes! But I love your videos and your voice! You make it achievable!
Thank you I hope it goes ok
Thank you! I'm going to try this today. I was really nervous to cut a man's hair as I only trim my own, but this guide makes me feel much more confident!
You're so welcome!
Wow! Now I understand the magic of this technique.
Honestly, thank you so much for posting this video. My son is autistic and struggles with getting his hair cut. He's fine with scissors but has a hard time with the clippers because of the noise and the sensation. I've been learning how to cut hair so I can cut his hair for him and I've learned to be fast with the clippers, but if I can scissor all of his hair and just use the clippers to clean up edges, that will be so much easier on him. Thank you!!
I am glad it helps. It takes a bit of practice this, but you will be able to do it well after a few gos
I've been cutting my family's hair for the last 17years, and I never knew where to put the comb when I cut under tension, so thanks for that!! Save me from hair in the mouth!😂😂
Also gonna try cutting over the comb, no tension. Thanks!!❤
You're so welcome! Scissor over comb takes a little practice but try it at some point on every haircut and you will pick it up fast
Thank you, this is one of the best tutorials that I have found so far. I have 3 boys and taking them for haircuts started to get expensive so I started to cut their hair at home. I’ll try this technique next time I cut their hair.
I hope it helps, let me know how you get on
You seem like a great guy! and I love how simple your videos tutorials are, you're thorough and make these videos simplified. Thank you
I appreciate that! Thank you 😊
Easy to follow video. Cant wait to try this method of cutting with scissors. Just starting out. Thanks for the tips.
Thank you and I really hope it helps.
🎉 I have referenced this video multiple times for (3) haircuts now! on my partner. Wanted to say thank you for the graphics and detailed explanation. I’ve tried a fade this time, and couldn’t quite blend it as seamlessly as you did, in your taper/fade livestream. Came back to this video and used some basics to clean it up and it looks pretty darn good now. 🎉 it’s a lot of fun!
You are so welcome! I love to hear a success story 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thank you, that was the best mens cut video I have seen on here! I love the step by step and drawings too. Finally a clear explanation of scissor over comb and how to see the guide👌😀
Grace,Scotland Uk!
You are so welcome Grace. Thank you 😊
Always love the way you explain things & the way your vids are edited.
Purely educational
By far the best haircut channel on Yt.
Thank you so much☺️
Started cutting my husband's hair in the last 6months. He wanted to save some money since his cut was costing $30 despite being so easy to do. Thanks for this! This is super helpful! Now if only he would cut mine... 🥺
I love this cut!
Very detailed tutorial. Helps a lot when I cut my kids hair. Also struggled to make the front and back connected. Thanks
You’re welcome 😊
Great video!! Thank you. I love listening to you speak. ❤
thank you so much
I have been cutting my husband’s (and now my 2 sons’) hair since before we were married. Learned from his mom, who I believe is self-taught. I always struggle with the “fringe” or bangs section up front. A video on how to cut that section, and maybe multiple styles of such, would be very helpful!! Thanks for making these videos. So helpful!!
Thank you, I will try to show more of the fringe on my next viedo
That was excellent and everything lines up ~ there are no gaps & nothing is uneven! I love the way you took it vertical in the back as well. I’m going to try this on my dad’s hair where you can see every cut and he has that poker straight course hair that’s not too forgiving.🍾
Straight hair takes no prisoners. Just make sure your sections are very thin. thats quite important on straight hair
I' m trying to cut my husband's hair and this video is very helpful as I just learning to do it , thank you so much I appreciated it xx
You are so welcome!
Me encantó y muy diferente ha los cortes lo pondré en practica❤
I can see your experience in your actions. I am glad to spend time to watch this video❤
Thank you 😊
The technique is good. I also preferred a comb and scissors to clippers at work. Because you can adapt to the shape of the head much better that way.
But I always go back to the contours from bottom to top at the end. So I take the comb and slowly comb upwards in the length that the hair should have and cut away the outermost tips with the scissors while I'm combing. This removes the small lines that appear and are visible. So I cut during the upward movement. In Germany, we call this "Klappern". Because the scissors " clatter" open and close very quickly.
(Sorry if I used the wrong vocabulary. English is not my mother tongue.)
That’s great info. Klappern makes sense. I do the same, it can really add a pristine finish
Very good tutorial. I wish I had access to TH-cam when my boys were little. I would’ve definitely used this tutorial.
Thanks for watching!
Im starting barbering❤️this lesson was out standing❤️i used this method ❤its so easy and good .
I’m glad it helped. There is lots on the channel that will help you on your journey
Love your technique so simple but structured. Thanks

What a beautiful hair cut ! Thank you !!!
Thank you too!
Wow. Ive never thought about cutting hair but after seeing this i'd love to try cutting my son's hair. You make it look easy.
You can do it. Just take your time.
@@theoneminutebarber I had a go. It didn't look bad considering it was my first time! It's not as good as your haircuts obviously but he was happy with it. I wish I found your videos during covid! 😅
This is amazing! I am cutting my sons hair in a similar way, but this tutorial really filled in the gaps for me! So useful! Thanks a lot!
You are so welcome! I hope it helps. The techniques can take a little practice but you can do it
