After all these years, there remains no one who can bring me to tears like Montserrat Caballé was able to do. How blest was the world to hear such a perfect voice, from a woman whose beautiful smile was so contagious? She was, quite simply, exceptional!
Even through an old video the essence of this incredible and beautiful woman comes blasting through demolishing all doubt, all criticisms, all skepticism. She was and will always be the "REAL DEAL." When Maria Callas stated that you would be her successor, she knew exactly what she was talking about. The opera, "Norma" was my absolute favorite. You were given the baton from Maria Callas and ran with it and made it your own. I regret that I never got to meet you, but through your music and singing, I feel a part of you as if I had know you all my life. My Queen of Opera, RIP and continue to live in our hearts and in our lives... 🎵🎤💕
The first opera I saw in my life was Norma sung by Montserrat Caballe, Fiorenza Cossoto, Bruno Prevedi, Ivo Vinco and the debut of Josep Carreras, I’ll never forget it, it was simply a magical night of the year 1970 and it happened in my hometown Barcelona!! Caballe will always be in my heart!! Thanks for all the joy you have brought to my life!!
This performance is nothing short of spectacular. I was unbelievably fortunate to have seen and heard Madame Caballe sing Norma at La Scala, Thursday, January 30, 1975. Paid what was at that time a fortune for a fabulous orchestra seat - $30! A date like that you never forget!
J'ai fait écouter avec attention cette video à mes élèves : l'une d'elles s'est mise à pleurer tellement son âme était remplie d'émotion. Il faut dire que nous sommes ici hors du temps, lequel s'arrête, nous sommes dans l'antichambre du Paradis. Montserrat Caballe conduit son Art au plus au niveau. C'est en elle et rien ne peut l'en détourner, servie qui plus est par la technique italienne traditionnelle qui justement lui permet de mettre en valeur un tel talent. Merci, tout simplement : MERCI

Endowed with a sensational and ample spinto voice, her repertory was extremely diversified, from classical melodies, to Zarzuela, pop hits (scoring huge triumphs with pop artists including Freddie Mercury and Vangelis) and of course opera, in roles ranging from Alceste, Medea, Semiramide, Contessa in the Nozze di Figaro, Norma, Imogene, the Tudor Queens, Violetta, Leonora, Elisabetta (in Don Carlos: a most fabulous interpretation), Manon, Salomé (Hérodiade), Manon Lescaut, Mimi, Floria Tosca, Princess Turandot, Adriana Lecouvreur, Arabella, Salome and countless others, including rarely performed works, both in opera and on the concert platform! Fabuleux!! et pourtant en 1987, Caballé avait déjà montré des signes de fragilisation de sa voix. Pour autant, elle fut longtemps capable d'accomplir des merveilles avec cette voix unique, dont bien peu pourraient se prévaloir aujourd'hui. GRANDISSIMA!!!
Without exception, this rendition of L'altra notte in fondo al mare sung by Montserrat Caballe' is the best that I have heard. Her voice is well placed and the expression fully convencing. The bravos are well merited.
