This is before her brain tumor of the pituitary gland....how that affected her life and function before being discovered and after we can only speculate. The gland didn't function well for years causing her weight issues. She also suffered chronic bronchitis...I say WOW what a presence singing so beautifully with all her many health challenges.
Caballé is and was a super talened artist! Is a shame that people make critic about pronunciation without knowing the language. She sings BEAUTIFUL in whatever idiom, music or song.
@@Ruffiello Understood but please don’t forget the fact that Ponselle’s was a recording and who knows how many shots she had at it. Caballè sang this live!
@@matthewbrown17 the problem isn't she does not pronounce, the problems are the voice lacks "core" for this repertoire and her high notes in forte are ugly, strident and clear in color
@@evangeliadimitriadis5706 Lol! You’re probably the first person I’ve ever heard say that Caballé didn’t have core. That’s preposterous. She had plenty of core and I don’t know what you find shrill about her voice. Caballé had plenty of faults, like all singers, including the best ones, such as herself. Plus, she had problems with her teeth which didn’t help her pronunciation.
"This is coloratura", c'è scritto sul video.
@@rugby8-PhiladelphiaRest assured, I know both the meaning of hypocrite and of diction. Instead, it is crystal clear that you are not Italian, and are therefore unable to assess Monserrat's poor diction.

Montserrat Caballé was greatest soprano ever.
4:25 THE pianissimo we all expect. Don't thank me 😉😎
One of her best renditions of the aria, despite the background noise.
Per quanto ascolti questo brano è questa grande voce il brivido è assicurato sempre negli anni è incredibile

I love Montsy!! I often wondered why she never pronounces the word "Maledizione" in this aria?
She didn’t a pronounce a lot of words in her career and we forgave her for it 😂
