Thanks so much for this very informative video - I need to remove the master and 4 remote units from my house as they are pretty dated, and this answered all my questions. If you have any interest in the old gear let me know - it looks like the same model as in the video and was probably installed in 1980
Excellent "how to" video! You are so clear and give great tips! Thank you!! I'm removing my old system for good. So I have to watch a couple more videos maybe to find out what else needs to be done in that case. But overall I have a good idea from your instructions here. And oh... I just noticed a comment below someone asked about permanent removal so sounds pretty easy. My system is probably 37 yrs old. It's a SM-428 it says on the front. Let me know if you'd like it. Yours for the taking if you think it's of any use for you :-)
Hi Carol: Thanks for the kind comments - I would like to have your removed equipment - Here's a link to our Video that's about the SM428 :th-cam.com/video/jKpQtdkqiTA/w-d-xo.html Please contact me directly when you're ready and have it all removed - Chris - 925-743-8236 - nscompany@msn.com

My dad worked at the cinncinatti factory for 43 years the factory shut down years ago and was torn down their was actually a real house in the middle of all the different buildings thats were they tested and took all the catalog pics
Hi brian: Very interesting - I had visited the factory only 2 times and that was way back in the 1990's. It was obvious that very little improvements had been made there over the years. A labor dispute in the 2000's moved the manufacturing out of Cincinnati and the owners used that as a reason to close down the factory. The technical offices are now located in Kenwood. As I recall, the beginning of the end was in the mid 1980's when NuTone was part of a leveraged buy-out by the Williams Company - who then proceeded to sell off property and other assets. Thanks to your dad for the years of dedication to NuTone. I've been told by many former employees that if you you were a good employee and did your job - you could work your entire career at NuTone. - Chris

Northside Service Company hi Chris, thank you so very much for the reply. We moved into our place 4 years ago and haven’t touched it because it looks very intimidating lol! I will try to tackle this project using your video, thanks again!
Very informative! I am currently debating what to do with our Nutone IMA-303 and the associated wall units...we remodeled a bathroom, and I took the wall unit off to clean it up and paint it to sort of bring it into the 21st century...and that went all good and fine, but now that I'm wanting to re-connect it, I discover that I've no idea what wire goes where...I think to myself, no problem! I've got 6 stations throughout the house...I'll just look at one of those! It turns out, the only one I removed (and failed to take pictures of) is the only station of its kind in the entire house. Each of the other stations has a printed circuit board...this one does not. I can't find ANY information and I have no documentation of any kind on the system. Can you offer me any guidance? Right now, it's just a slightly better-looking hole filler in our updated bathroom!
HiMatt: I'm guessing that you have an early NuTone IS35 Remote Station - the design that has mostly mechanical switches made up of "rods and contacts". If you email me directly - I'll send you a copy of the Installation Sheet - Chris nscompany@msn.com
For permanent removal, can you leave the wires in the wall if they are bound with tape? And patch over the wall? Same question for room speaker removal.
Hi Christina: Yes, you can leave the wires in the walls. You should locate the low-voltage transformer and disconnect the wires from it - so there no voltage inside the wall at the original Master Station location. What will you being doing with the IMA303? - Chris
@@northsideservicecompany3567 hi! I’m removing a system for my grandma that is similar to this. The IM3003 has a faux Digital Tuner (analog tuner with a digital readout) and then the IM3303. Neither of these will use any part of your IMA303 System, except for the wiring.
