Oh so it’s not just me?…I’m in grishko star pointe and got shocked by how different the third time I got them…the vamp is visually longer than those I got the first 2 times and even with visible differences between the two shoes in the same pair…I’ve struggled with finding my shoes for so many years and finally settled with starpointe but yeah ofc I’m not gonna have a happy ending am I 😢thanks for the video and sorry for all the headaches you went through. Oh and definitely do a video on virtisse if you can. Here where I live, it’s just too expensive I don’t have the courage to just go try one❤😅
I can't believe you remained loyal after dealing with so many inconsistencies for so long, I wouldn't have been as patient. Hopefully there's an even better pointe shoe out there, just waiting for you to try it on! 💙
Pointe shoes are just a pain. Unfortunately, I liked the Maya II and then RC-81 from R-Class brand. Both always on backorder. And nowdays, they're just impossible to get at all.
Hi Salty! Too bad that you coldn't get your Grishkos. The company is sure going to lose a lot of costumers. Have you tried Russian Pointe? They are also made in Russia (at least when I bought my last pair three years ago thet were...). Tthey have a lot of models and combinations of shanks, widths, and vamps. I vote for a follow-up, of course! Can't wait to see how those Virtisse shoes look on you, and well, most importantly, if they are YOUR shoe 😊
i almost tried Russian Pointe a few years ago. at the time i was vacillating between RP and Gaynor Minden. i wound up choosing Gaynor Minden. i think i was so burned by the experience that i was afraid to try another 'new' brand so shortly after.
Omg please tell us about virtisse if it works out for you. I was also a ride or die 2007 girl, now in the dream but had to do massive diy vamp modification to wear it. I'm not a professional at all like you, but it'd be nice to have a shoe that works for my crappy feet.
Yikes 😢 sorry you are going through that. It's aggravating to depend on a specific supplier who happens to be unreliable and uncooperative. I hope everything works out. I feel you are probably very good at fitting yourself and modding shoes to your liking so virtual fittings may turn out just fine 🤞
I don't even go here but the level of obfuscation and gaslighting is absolutely wild. Good job putting this all together though, sounds like people really need to know about this. Good luck finding a new shoe that works for you and isn't so ridiculously hard to get!
I’ve worn Mayas since the mid 90s and my teen wears 3007. She commented that her newest pair feels off and the pleating is SO thick. She has banana feet and usually goes through a hard shank pretty quickly, but she’s being pulled back on the box. They are NOT correct.
hello Victoria very interesting video. good for you for speaking out. good shoes are what a dancer relies on and if the shoe is no longer up to standard then it puts the dancer at risk of injury. My niece used Grishko 2007 for a long time, until a few years back and she began to have problems with recent shoe purchases. I still have an unused pair of Grishko Size 6.5 xxx medium shank. you are welcome to them if you would like. they have the made in russia stamp on the sole.
I'm voting for pointe shoe companies to be run by dancers/point shoe fitters who actually understand and experienced being en pointe. Unlike all these men who have never danced or even put a pointe shoe on in their lives. How can they truly know and understand what a dancer needs?
Just now watching this. Did you ever reach out directly to Grishko in Russia? Is it possible they aren’t aware of what is happening in the US just like the last time when they had to rebrand? Is it possible it is actually another case of fake shoes and they are being defensive with you because they are trying to hide it from Grishko.
I’m really sorry you have all these problems. I think the easiest way to get these pointe shoes if you have friends in Russia to ask them buy shoes in Russia and send to you as a parcel. It will take 8-12 days. If you don’t have any friends here, let me know and I will try to find out how you can order and get your shoes. Have a nice day❤
yes that makes sense. or basically, anyone that does NOT live in the U.S. and can get Grishko without having to go through U.S. Nikolay... i do have some family friends in Germany. maybe i can ask them! but i did just get my Virtisse shoes, and to be honest, the Violette model feels EXACTLY like the original '07 Grishko. i'm very happy with them, and the fast shipping. i may be a 'Virtisse Girl' now lol
How many hours have you used them? I got both Violette and Virtuoso to try and after breaking them in (which was an ORDEAL after being in Dream Pointe for so many years) I found the balance point in Violette changed my alignment or something, can't pirouette, struggle to balance, but Virtuoso feels most closely matched to my old shoes, even the platform is almost exactly the same size as the good pairs of my old shoes. I couldn't get over without 3/4 the shank though, that was, fun... digging the 3rd layer of shank out of the massive wad of glue. I have low arches though, so maybe that's making a difference in both getting over and how I fit in the box.@@SaltySugarPlum
@@SaltySugarPlum hi! i bounce around shoes but ended up in grishko 2007s for my most recent pair. I'm in the UK, and while to the best of my knowledge we don't have the inconsistency issues nikolay does it is INSANELY hard to get hold of grishkos right now. my shoes were from dancia International, a big shoe shop in Central London which has stocked many many grishko models for years, but when I came to be fitted they had only the 2007s available and only one pair in my size with a non ideal shank (wanted an M ended up with a H because Ms sell out faster). additionally, another shop I used to get fitted at before moving wanted me in the 2007s last year but explained they can't get hold of them or any other grishko models at all This is my contribution to the grishko wtf fest occurring right now. its irritating me in it's own special way because I think they are the only brand which theoretically goes tapered enough for me right now and I cannot find a new pair now that I've killed the last ones, so will have to go on the shoe hunt yet again. PS if anyone has replacement ideas hmu, I'm not that narrow across the metatarsals (grishko XXX) but I am so very very tapered. already tried virtisse (enigma fx) but they're too square
The photo of you in the bad vamp at 7:00 actually looks ridiculous - the shoe is obviously cut completely incorrectly. I know, because my own shoe has been the Grishko 2007 Proflex. The "Models on Point" scene is even worse, if that could be possible. In fact, they look like toy shoes. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, the pic of your student was next. Certainly Petr Orlav will bankrupt his company if he keeps it up. Dancers know their shoes and they know their feet. Don't worry my friend, he will soon learn the hard way.
Loved this video, you said everything I've earned to say about Grisko/Nikolay. I wanted to ask if you have or have heard of Ehler Danlos. My physical therapist recently suggested that I may have it. Hyper mobility which is nice for ballet but causes other problems. Looking at your bio we have a similar story, I too started late then ran into the Russians! Have had an on and off again freelance/ professional career and noe run a small company put of my church that is dancer centered.
I honestly cannot imagine all the trouble you're facing. I can't believe that someone who is supposed to be professional when it comes to shoe brands is just being a pure butt hole how disgusting. I wish here in PA the dance stores improve. I'm sorry you have to go through this. You have every right to speak out about this situation. I hope everything goes well for you. Have you tried Josephine Lee Pointe shop ?
@@SaltySugarPlumI recently switched from Nikolay to Virtisse Violette and haven’t looked back. I would love to hear what shoes you got or see a follow up video. Thank you for making this video!
I had several really good shoes, then my last pair, so painfull I thought it's just because I hadn't broken them in. Another dancer pointed out they are wider then my dead pair (I was showing the colour of the satin looked different) Yep they are wider the box in a funny shape. I'm in aus so they are grishko branded not nikolay. I prefer to pad the inside of the shoe with a box liner and not wear toe pads but with this pair I have to pad the inside and wear toe pads other wise they are too painful. I lose articulation like this. So really they are useless to me.
Wow, those responses to you are outrageous! Yes please to a follow up video, would love to see the Virtisse!
Very interesting, informative, with just enough smart salt! I'm looking forward to seeing your followup! Appreciate all you do!
