Reliving some early memories. In 1959 my dad drove the family (dad, mom, and three kids) from Anchorage to Dawson City Yukon Territory over Labor Day Weekend. Of course, we went through Tok going and coming. Then in about June of 1960, we moved from Anchorage to Juneau which also involved driving through Tok Junction. One last time through Tok was when I drove my dad's car from Seattle to Anchorage. This was the summer after the big earthquake. I had mom and sister with me, neither of whom drove. That was a long drive for me, 2300 miles, for a 19-year-old.
Your story-telling is strong... really enjoying your recount of the ride! It reminds me of my own "land voyages" and all the little details that have slipped through the cracks of my mind. And your wrap-up resonates strongly with me... there are moments in my life marked with a distinctive "before" and "after." It seems that going through the motions is one important part of resiliency, and another is time... thank you for sharing- and for reminding me of this.
😄 I used to live in Big Delta/Delta Junction a long time ago - it was cool to see a few passing images of places I remember. And Skinny Dick's Halfway Inn is one hell of a good time! LOL There's a rotten sense of humor in Alaska!
Really enjoyed the 3 vids so far. No bikey for me, promised the wife. Too many dead/injured acquaintances. But..my my that looked nice. Hope your feeling well, keep up the good work
Some times you can take a piece of film (like the 35mm camera type) Cut it in a small hook on a corner slide it under seal and clean out the dirt if its not completely trashed put more oil in and see if it works.
Sorry to hear that your being Shanghaied did a lasting number on your head, or in your head more like it. I hope something or someone comes along and tickles that inner spark again for you. I had my share of foul weather bike riding 40 or 50 years ago and don't long for that anymore but still admire your trip and the Dalton seems about as far from Shanghai as it gets and hope that it retroactively expunges at least some of the trepidation of your virtual imprisonment on "Willie" at the hands of the local authoritarian regime. Unfortunately, traumatic shit sticks with you. Not easy to just will it away, at least for me it isn't but I hope you get your grove back in short order so not everything in life reminds you of way too long on a rust bucket on the Yangtze feeling abandoned.
Another great trip video, thanks. China will always be with you, but you have a new point for “how crap is this?” Hopefully you’ll be able to say, “at least I’m not restricted to ship in sh*tville China”
OMG! Ask Marian what sandals he’s wearing! I want to buy!!! Great moto video series. Great transitions. Thanks!
They're Luna's!

Wow, hell yea! Big miles, especially when you're the sole driver.
@@m.leinewolczko Maybe it was the impetus for me to become a long haul truck driver - - with over 1,000,000 miles over the road.
