@bbaker904 Detroit probably doesn't care about the repair costs incurred by the consumer. Remember that these units, although technologically better and more efficient, will tend to fail after the warranty period, so the used car buyer will be stuck with the bill. The good thing about these units is that they can be easily rebuilt. Most shops don't know better and will charge for a new unit. But another matter. Thanks so much for posting. I appreciate it.
The veins are closing in the wrong direction. As they close, they are suffocating the turbine, rather than forcing air through the small gap. From the top, they should close to the left, not the right.

You're supposed to drive with two hands on the wheel, but I'm sure you drive with one hand all the time, but nobody says anything about it...
@@JacesOwnWorld Yes, but people who drive with one hand on the wheel aren't trying to educate or instruct anyone on the working mechanisms of an engine part.

Hello, I deal with many school systems and technical schools. You may purchase our videos as DVDs and show then in class. You can also link to this channel on YT for in class training. The issue with that is that our videos can get purchased by other companies for training and they won't be available anymore. The DVDs are always yours. We also have various publication that you can use in class and we do allow sections of our book to be reproduced for in-class training with our written permission

My original comment was intelligent, A VNT and VGT are two different turbos. Yes they do change geometric shape but the act in two different ways. With your video I did learn how a VNT works so before you criticize other peoples knowledge please go deeper into your research so you provide the CORRECT information
The vanes should be on the turbine side not the compressor side. And the turbines are rotating the wrong way. And the the vanes are closing the wrong direction.

VGT's stick can be idled for periods of time
yeh but it has to be like that so the air flow is directed to the turbine
My triton use vgt. Been using it two years. Three times i claim vgt warranty. Leaking. What a bad issue. They advice me not to drive above 110kmph. Wtf
These VGTs are prone to bad fuel. Try and use the cleanest Diesel out there. They are however not too hard to disassemble and clean. Your can even change the seals and bearings. Once your truck is out of warranty, FORGET the dealership. Get a good independent shop or do it yourself. Lots of other cars, Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, etc use VGT Turbos of regular gasoline engines, so it does work, but won't tolerate dirty fuel.
If i install turbo timer and oil catch can to my vgt triton..does that will reduce my problem?
It's possible.
I felt bad when I bought a Strada (also a Triton), and just two years later, VGT was introduced in the model. I guess it's not so bad, then. :(
Say, is it possible to "upgrade" the f ixed turbocharger of an existing vehicle into a VGT one?
ADP, While the content is good and explanation is very helpful, even to someone noe mechanically minded, I really did shudder at the TTS audio. It was hard to follow and understand. I appreciate you want to keep time usage down, but TTS still has a long way to go before its actually any good, haha. Still, a good video

i may be completely wrong but it looks like the turbo is spinning in the right direction but the fins are moving backwards?
This video is actually wrong this is for a VNT (variable nozzle turbo) a VGT has a sliding ring to determine the amount of exhaust that is let out so the turbo isn't over boosting where this video shows pivoting blades that change the amount of exhaust
The Turbo you're referring to is also considered variable geometry. If you think this video is wrong and your time watching it is for naught and you'd have learned nothing. please, post intelligently.

Drive pressures through the roof
The turbocharges with variable geometrie is a very bad system, must by a fished ring blades on the optimum position for give the maximum response and not a mobile sistem, this carry a lot of malfunctions. Also the bypass must discharge out of the turbo device because this fact increase the turbo temperature unnecesary. Pls see my video of the diesel motor 2 strokes by valves only. can learn something.
That's not actually VGT that's VVT, VGT uses a nozzle.
