- Hi Eggies!!! I took 4 items from my thrift flip pile and gave them a lil Y2K upgrade! All of these flips are fairly easy so if i can do them SO CAN YOU! Each flip took me about a few hours and completed all of these in 4 days!

I think for the second top it would have been really fun if you just took the excess fabric that you cut off and made bigger bell sleeves since that's what you enjoyed about them. Just a thought for the future.

Maybe you used the wrong needle size for the mesh? Also using a zigzag stitch would be much sturdier for stretchy fabrics :)
Ooooo didn’t even think about that! I’ll have to google and read up on which needle size I should be using. Cause I just used the needle it came with😅
@@twinelle I also recommend getting a walking foot attachment for your machine. Helps with delicate/slippery fabric.
If you make the thread length longer it also helps!

I love love looove that leopard-print patchwork top and I would have never thought of the points where the seams meet as nipples! I think it suits you so well and the asymmetrical hemline is SO cool!

81 degrees in Phoenix this morning! Highs today 100! There's a chance of thunderstorms this evening!

@@twinelle yes but the good news is rain possible tonight which will cool it down! And 100 degrees in Phoenix isn't really that bad because normal high is 104!
These are cute! I do some slight alterations and mending, but my biggest problem is that my ratio from my waist to my hips (or boobs) is 10 inches difference. So when I want something high-waisted that is only elastic, the elastic isn't big enough to fit over my butt and still be tight enough on the waist. I've altered a few pants/skirts this way, and they're too loose on the waist and if I make them any tighter/shorter elastic I just can't get them on and off. I have to add a zipper as well which I don't always want to do, especially if the elastic is sewn into the item instead of just being in a flap, because then you have to worry about elasticized thread and the right stitching so that the thread doesn't stop the elastic from stretching. I think that might have been what happened to your skirt. If you just do a straight stitch, the thread is not stretchy, and it stops the elastic and the material from being able to stretch unless you use elastic thread or a zigzag stitch. But even zig zag stitches sometimes aren't enough stretch for me. Elastic thread is what you use to make that ruching like in the blue plaid top. I'm not that advanced though.
Ohhhhhh!!!! That makes so much sense!!! For the elastic waist on the skirt I did use a zig zag stitch but only got about 2 inches of stretch so it definitely didn’t fit over my hips. The farthest it stretched was 28” and my hips are 38” soooo no way in hell would it go over so over my shoulders was the only solution! Haha but I didn’t even think about elastic thread so it’d be fun to play around with. I’ll have to go out and find some in Santee Alley for sure! Thanks so much for commenting!!!!!!😃🥰✨
@@twinelle Yes, exactly, zig zag doesn't give me enough either! I think with a big hip to waist ratio we just need other things like snaps and zippers. I'm not how elastic thread works for a waistband. I've never tried it. I just know people use it (maybe on the bobbin? And I'm not even sure how tight or loose it has to be wound). But it can be used to make that ruching, but on a waistband it may come out too bunchy. ?? (I hate that) It's a struggle for sure!!!

Yesss! Defs handwash it since then I’m in control of speed and don’t have to worry about the lil stars flinging off!😄✨

I can just hand sew them with a needle and colored thread to match the piece I’m working on. I got them from a jewelry store in Santee alley. So I think they’re meant for necklaces and bracelets hahaha
