in today's cosy craft time we will upcycling/flip/alter/fix up/make pretty seven garments I hardly wear from my closet! These pieces are a mix of fast fashion bops, hand me down diddies, and second hand doodads.
I couldn't decide if i wanted to make this video informative or entertaining so I guess I went halvsies. Let me know if you do plan to try any of these fix ups and you have any questions with how I did anything!

by the way, if anyone is wondering why she's recording with a sock over her phone, it's because when recording on your phone, the phone picks up on backgroung noise which makes for distractions throughout the video. When you put a sock on top, it cancels out the background noise so that you can only hear her voice, which makes it much cleaner and much less distracting

For the first black shirt, I'd instead recommend, after doing the two straight stitches and gathering them, pinning in place and then doing a straight stitch over the gathered bit it's waaay easier and you won't have to worry about it coming apart!

Dudette, I totally like the ambient you're creating wirh the clothes, glasses, music and the microphone. It feels like we'd projectively would get a show in the 70s or 80s moterated by a cool person like yourself, that people would have deserved then.

I love the last white top! I couldn't image how it would look until it was all put together and the design is great.
For the black gathered top, to hold the gathers on, you could try to sew a "normal" stitch (I mean going back at the beginning and the end to hold it on) between (or above so it can be less visible) your gather stitches.
Moreover, you could see if you have a stitch which seems like a tiny zigzag stitch on your sewing machine, it is a stitch e
especially made for stretchy fabrics, because when we pull on regular stitches, it can't be stretched as the fabric so the thread could be broken. It is not necessarily because of to the quality of your thread (but it can have an incidence). If you don't have this stitch, you can use a zigzag stitch but make its width smaller, it is almost the same stitch.

Love this video! :) So fun and creative. If you're interested in doing more gathering like the black top you might find it easier to do a longer stitch length to gather the fabric and then go over the gathered area with a regular stitch and back stitch at the start and the beginning. After that you can pull out the longer stitch and it should stay in place better and you won't have to hand stitch the ends of the thread.
For the wrap dress if you're confident and working with something on someone curvy I would recommend making little marks while the person is wearing it and cutting it while it's still on the person or on your dress form. This will make the dress hem more levelled since the sometimes cutting certain fabrics straight across can make the centre back lift up and/or the side seam pull up or down.
i love the fact you want things to be reversible so that if you donate your clothes, someone else can re-alter it. also ur voice is so so so calming 😍😍

These are all super cute!! For the black top that has the gathering at the front. if you want to you could sew elastic on the inside so it stays gathered but is relying on the tension of the elastic not the threads :)
Love the colored pencil sacrilege. I often use different-colored pencils to mark fabrics just so I can hide the leftover marks better when I'm done.
