Collin Guo the difference between crystal growth and faldori strider is that strider gave you a max of 3 spiders that were 4/4 per card. Crystal growth gives you the possibility to flood your board with 5/5s. Think of crystal growth as a slightly worse pre-nerfed caverns below.

I get that it becomes more overwhelming when you have other cards adding bombs, and there's potential to get more than 3 bombs, but I think he's heavily overestimating this card. It needs a nerf, but nowhere near that big.
Instead of trying to force the Twinspell aspect, just keep it with Choose One since Stelladris still synergizes with it. Crystal Growth: 4 Mana *Choose One* twice - Summon a 2/2 Treant; or Transform one into a 5/5 Ancient. Prevents early game abuse, retains the Stelladris value, suddenly becomes usable (but not broken) in Token Druid.
Crystal growth fix seems easy to fix, make the twinspell give a copy of the option you chose, instead of a choose one on the twinspell created card. So if you pick summon a treant, you get a spell to summon a treant. If you choose to transform into an ancient it will give you that spell into your hand.
Crystal Growth 3 mana Twinspell Choose one: Summon a 2/2 Treant with Taunt Or Transform a Treant into a 5/5 ancient with Rush I tried to make it balanced, but it might be a bit op or up
5/5 Ancient with Rush seems about right, Rush and Taunt seems a bit much. On second thought, being able to potentially get a 5/5 Rush on turn 3 seems pretty OP to begin with. Maybe sticking with the vanilla Ancient (or keeping Taunt) would make it almost balanced.
The thing about bumbling burglar is that you don't get a chance to kill or transform the minion that comes out, which makes it significantly worse against combo. It pretty much will never reliably work as a combo breaker against malygos decks, resurrect decks, or basically anything not relying on battlecries.
For crystal growth my balance proposal would be to keep it the same as it is, but then change it to transform a treant into a frozen 5/5 Ancient. So this way it would be unable to attack turn 3 if you were to play it turn 2. Flavor behind idea of it being frozen was because I thought of a crystal encasing the treant and causing it to grow until it released a powerful ancient.
Crystal growth - Make it 3 mana and make it a choose one card instead since its an exclusive mechanic to Druid and synergies with quest Druid (untapped potential)
That spell could summon 2/2 treant with spell immunity, so still it would be transformed by battlecries or aoe spell, since we already have 3/2 spell immune.
Crystal Growth is actually not nearly as much as a problem as it seems. Basically, twinspell means something like "Add a copy of this card to your hand. The copy does not have this effect" So if we stop limiting ourselves with the "twinspell" keyword and just put the text on there, we have options! Like "Add a copy that cost 1 mana more of this card to your hand. The copy does not have this effect" Its a bit wordy, but fixes the card. Alternatively, you could also add onto the twinspell version like this: "Twinspell The Twinspell created costs 1 more"
To balance Crystal Growth have the twinspell effect activate on the choose one effect e.g. if u choose a 2/2, you can only make another 2/2 and same for ancient
Casual 3 years late but I decided to rewatch this series and I think you could nerf Crystal Growth by removing the choice. "Twinspell. If you have a Treant, change a random one into a 5/5 Ancient. Otherwise, summon a 2/2 Treant."
For Crystal Growth, I'd suggest changing the card text to "Twinspell; Choose One - Summon 2 2/2 Treants; or Transform a Treant into a 5/5 Ancient", while also increasing the spell cost to 3. I think this would prevent any overpowered coin plays and still give the card an acceptable amount of value.
6:20 What if you gave it "Choose One: Twinspell: Summon a 2/2 or Twinspell: Transform a Treant into a 5/5"? It does remove some of the flavour, and might make the card a bit overcomplicated, but could have some interesting usage nonetheless
How about a 2 mana Twinspell "Transform a Treant you control into a 5/5 Ancient. If you have none, summon a 2/2 Treant.". This keeps the same feel if it, but restricts choices from the player, which you mentioned is what made it so strong.
I feel like applying Trump's logic on the iron juggernaut makes the actual iron juggernaut seem overpowered, which it definitely wasn't. Effectively 2 bombs should be 3 mana and a 6/5 is worth almost 5 Mana. So iron juggo OP?
Balanced crystal growth: 3 mana, twinspell summon a 2/2 treant or upgrade one of your treants into a 5/5 ancient (same as original) - if you control a treant this cost 2 mana.
I get that in theory iron juggernaut mark 2 would basically be like shuffling an extra card in the opponents deck but if it did it would increase the outcome of drawing a bomb. Where as the doubling damage effect doesn't increase the likeliness to draw a bomb.
Crystal Growth (4 mana): Choose one: Summon two 2/2 Treants or Transform up to two treants into a 5/5 Ancient. The boost in mana is accompanied by another Treant summon/transformation because it keeps it more balanced. To get the package, you still need to be, at best, turn 3 "summon two 2/2s" which can be easily counterable at this point but overall has the same statline as a 2 mana 2/2 Treant summon, just doubled up. At the same time, if the opponent, knowing that you got the twinspell in your hand, leaves your treants alive, then you can transform up to two Treants to Ancients and that can be a profit in and of itself since they knowingly let it be. Or it could be more mindgames by leaving a treant alive so the enemy wastes 4 mana to transform the remaining Treant into a 5/5 Ancient then you killing the treant with a Dynomatic or some such.
I like it, but it should say something along the lines of "transform up to 2 random friendly treants into 5/5 Ancients.", As hearthstone cards don't target more than once
Well without Twinspell this card is terrible. Who would play a 2 Mana 2/2? Transforming exactly one Treant into a 5/5 isn't good either without the Twinspell of being able to summon one in the first place.
6:20 "Twinspell, Choose One: Summon a 2/2 Crystal Treant that can't be targetted bt spells or hero powers OR Transform a Treant into a 5/5 Ancient" The simplest way to balance the card is to make the treant you summon with it unable to be targeted by the twinspell. The card could still be 2 mana, but buff that specific treant a bit to give an overall nerf to the card while still keeping it as a good turn one coin option or turn 2 option. We see strong 1 mana 4 stat minions with good effects as class cards and in neutral, so this isn't far out at all
who knows, people end up designing the same card over and over again completely unintentionally. there were like 5 different custom iterations of plot twist before the actual one got printed
I think you remove Twinspell and make it 1 mana. This way you have to combo it with some Treant card to get a 1 mana 5/5 which is honestly pretty strong, but if you wanna push a Treant Druid, this could be what it needs to combo with Landscabing. And a 1 mana 2/2 is pushing a lille bit, but we've had a 1 mana 2/2 Beast in Druid before so I think a 1 mana Treant is fine.
Crystal Growth: Druid-Twinspell-Choose one: -Summon a 2/2 Treant with ""can not be targeted by you spells during your next turn" -Transform one into a 5/5 Ancient (Yeah, it's a long description but what can you do beside creating a "word" for it :/)
I fixed Crystal Growth: It is a common card so it should be mediocre. Make it 4 mana that reads: Twinspell choose one: Summon 2 2/2 Treants or transform one into a 5/5 Ancient with taunt.
If landscaping was a Twinspell, would it still cost 3? Or if mark of the wild was twinspell, would it cost 2? The answer is obviously no, so I think this card would be balanced this way.
Balance on jug 2 should be a 7 mana 6/5 because it isn't like shuffling an extra mine in which would significantly increase the effectiveness of Dr boom. It would also increase the consistency of the mine draw so it would be a better effect. I suggest the stats to be like profit vel because it would be a closer effect.
Trump, one thing I think you overlooked with the Iron Juggernaut MKII is that because it transforms bombs into mines instead of shuffling a bomb into the deck for every bomb (which is pretty close in power yes), it does remove any bomb synergy cards the way transforming treants into ancients removes treant synergies. Now, there's (to my knowledge) only the one card that DOES have bomb synergies (the new Dr Boom legendary), so it's MOSTLY moot, but I could see it seeing print with maybe a tad more mana (7-8 maybe?) IF more bomb synergies are introduced. Otherwise, yeah, that's a 10 mana minion.
I feel like the best way to balance Crystal Growth would be to drop the Twinspell tag and instead it would add the choice you picked back to your hand instead. Yeah dropping twinspell means it loses the set theme a bit but it would lock them into either getting the treeant or to upgrade to ancients. It would leave the problem of the nut draw of 2 of them with the coin but it would be more acceptable imo.
6:20 keep it a 2 mana Twinspell , but it's not a choose one anymore , just print it as " Transforms a random Treant into a 5/5 Ancient . If you have no Treants on the board , summon a 2/2 Treant . "
The bumbling burglar should summon a 'Silent Alarm-o bot' which is the same but just has stealth. so it cant just be cleared so easy and thematically is way better, like the burglar has tripped a silent alarm by accident
Best way to fix the druid twinspell is change the treant to gains rush and dies at the end of turn, still keeps the flavor, just name the card differntly
I think Bumblin Burglar should stay an overstated Minion. The idea of dirty rat was either to get a strong battle cry minion out of your opponents hand OR get a combo piece from him and kill it imediatly (like a Malygos). Burglar has only the battle cry option, because the minion is summoned at the start of his turn so if its sth like Maly your oponent can use it and potentially protect it.
I would make it 1 mana and remove Twinspell on the Druid spell I think - then you have a pretty powerful 1-drop or a 1 mana transform for later in the game
@Trump to balance the card when you cast it the twinspell should only apply to which mode you selected. So if you made a 2/2 treant you would be given that mode of the spell like Keeper Staladris
I was thinking maybe Patches, in Charge would be decent if his text said, “Your pirates cost 3 less, but not less than 1.” 3 less might even be strong, maybe 2 less.
6:20 Maybe keep twinspell, but put a condition "if you control a treant", so the card would read "twinspell, if you control a Treant Choose One: summon another one; or Transform it into a 5/5 Ancient"
For Crystal Growth: Have the twinspell be the same one you have chosen the first time. As now there are separate cards and art for the Choose One effects, have the card generated by Twinspell be the Choose One version of the one first used. No 4 mana 5/5 in this case.
2:15 That’s not like shuffling another bomb into the deck at all, that would increase the odds of taking damage not increase damage taken which is what the card is doing. Still agree with the ratings tho.
Suggested change to Mark II: NEUTRAL LEGENDARY Transform all bombs in YOUR deck into mines that deal 10 damage, then shuffle them into your opponents deck. Yay for tech cards
That seems like an overly punishing tech card and, if the specialist format wasn't a thing, something I'd highly discourage because of the outrageous swings it creates in one specific matchup. I know that hearthstone has had a history of these kinds of cards, but still...
Cool effect, but I think the flavor fails. The Iron Juggernaut Mk 1 was a Warrior Legendary, so I don't see why its next iteration would be available to all classes.
The way to balance Crystal growth is: Twinspell Choose one - summon a 2/2 trant: or Transform one into a 5/5 treant with rush who dies at the end of your turn I think that would be solid
You can give crystal grow echo instead of twinspell. This way you can't coin it out in 2cnd turn. And you can pay 4 mana for 5/5, or if you have any other treant upgrade it. This way card is good addition for treant deck. It pushes theme of treants and is decent card on it's own.
For Crystal Growth, just make the 2/2 not a treant. You either have summon two 2/2s, or transform an already played treant. But maybe that makes the ancient thing too weak? Just my two cents
Crystal Growth Twinspell Choose One - Summon a 2/2 Treant; or Transform one into a 5/5 It can never start in your opening hand (like opposite of Quests); (BTW can not start in opening hand even after mulligan)
Crystal Growth fix; 4 mana Choose One - Summon two 2/2 Treants or transform your Treants into 5/5 Ancients If it’s problematic when its too small than just make it a bit bigger. This version may still be problematic with the 8 mana spell however, but it’s significantly less problematic since the opponent always gets a turn to answer your treants.
Eh. By turn 8, a couple 5/5s are a lot more managable; pretty much every form of removal in the game is accessible by then. Also enables the possibility of Landscaping into Crystal Growth for 2 5/5s on turn 7, but I think that's fine as a two-card combo that's also fairly late. I like it!
Crystal Growth 4 Mana Twinspell Choose One - Summon two 2/2 Treants; or Transform one into a 5/5 Ancient Since there already is a 3 mana summon 2 treants spell, this on 3 would be kinda op with the flexibility and the fact that the first twinspell draws you a card. So its 3 Mana for the Effect basically and 1 for the Twinspell and flexibility
6:25 change it to twin spell choose one- summon a 2/2 treant or transform one into a 5/5 ancient then deal 2 damage to it. Also change the name to unnatural growth. Voila turn 2 5/3 power play but fair enough and has drawbacks
For the treant card, make it so that you can only make the treant if you already have a treant and then u can’t get the 5/5 on turn two without a lot of help
Crystal Growth needs just one line of text, but shorten it to HS standard somehow (keyword?), and it's as follows: You can only activate Crystal Growth once per turn Or if you want to keep some power in it: You can only activate this card once per turn. - which allows you to activate other Crystal Growth if you have second copy in your hand
Sachi ... But that isn't the problem. The problem is turn one crystal growth with coin into turn two crystal growth. You literally made it ONLY abusable.
Crystal Growth - Twinspell - 2 mana Choose One: Summon a 2/2 Treant for both players; or Transform one into a 5/5 Ancient. Druid has more synergy with Tokens so the "Equal" effect doesn't make it bad. The opponent can trade with your Treant to prevent Coin > T1 Tree > T2 Ancient. Using both Spells the same turn is effectively 4 mana 3/3 (Because you give your opponent 2/2 stats) but with flexibility (You can trade with the enemies 2/2)
Twinspell - The second copy of this costs (3) mana. Choose One - Summon a 2/2 Treant, or transform one into a 5/5 ancient. Yeah it does break the rule of twinspell, but it's still pretty flavorful. And I think it's balanced then.
Make Crystal Growth an Echo card instead of Twinspell. It would remove the "turn 2 5/5" option, but it would add the flexibility of being usable as either a weak treespeaker or a weak forest's aid in late-game.
Balance it by making it 4 mana twinspell summon 2 2/2 treeants or turn a treeant into a 5/5 ancient. Normally 2 treeants is 3 mana value, but bundled into the or card increases cost. The higher cost also prevents crazy early tempo. It’s either a 4 mana 4/4 or an 8 mana 6/6, both of which are weaker but since it’s an or card that’s how it usually goes to compensate for flexibility, even moreso with one that can be played over a few turns
Crystal Growth is fine balance wise. Coin Growth into Growth is not much crazier than some of the Watcher stuff we've seen recently. A flexible turn 4 5/5 is even more fine, you almost admit it yourself.
crystal growth -> cost 3 : twinspell, summon 2 2/2 treant or transform one into a 5/5 ancient, 2 treant for 3 or 4 for 6 is ok, a 5/5 for 3 with a condition of having a treant and "killing" it is ok too and finally a 2/2 and a 5/5 for 6 is ok too
Crystal growth change suggestion: Remove twinspell and add echo (this would also involve time travel so we could put it in Witchwood, but I think it fits a little better as echo anyway), means you are not able to split the effect over multiple turns
My idea for Crystal growth is to experiment with "Choose one" with two different mana costs. Like Two mana to summon a treant or 3 mana to turn into an ancient. Actually the more I think about that the less I like it, but I'll throw it out there any way
I have an easy fix to the treant spell and that is that it puts a 1 mana 2/2 treant card into your hand or turns a treant to a 5/5 instead of summoning the treant for free
The crystal growth, why not make it CHOOSE ONE summon 2,1/1 saplings or transform all saplings to 2/2 treants (or it can just be 1 treant and summon 3 saplings)
6:20 because it is a choose one card just make it so the twin spell part adds the action you choose not the full card. So if you summon a 2/2 you get a 2 mana summon a 2/2 and vice a versa for the ancient.
Double the mana and double the treant/ancient summons. So it could be an 8 mana summon two 5/5’s, which seems fair. Summoning 2 2/2 treants for 4 seems a tad weak, compared to landscaping, but it’s flexible.
6:20 You could make the card 4 mana and then change the choices into summon 2 2/2 treants (worse than Landscaping) or change all treants into ancients (worse than Treespeaker because you don't get the extra 4/4).
Ultra Dryguy or it could be 3mana summon two treants and the second option stays the same? That’s what I was thinking

The thing about bumbling burglar is that you don't get a chance to kill or transform the minion that comes out, which makes it significantly worse against combo. It pretty much will never reliably work as a combo breaker against malygos decks, resurrect decks, or basically anything not relying on battlecries.
You could balance Crystal Growth by having the Twinspell be only a copy of the chosen option.
I think that would kind of ruin the flavor, though.
It’s ALREADY a choose one card.
The copy does not have this effect"
So if we stop limiting ourselves with the "twinspell" keyword and just put the text on there, we have options! Like "Add a copy that cost 1 mana more of this card to your hand. The copy does not have this effect"
Its a bit wordy, but fixes the card. Alternatively, you could also add onto the twinspell version like this:
"Twinspell
The Twinspell created costs 1 more"
patches = crag is 0 mana + tak + toggwaggle scheme. with emperor thaurissan
👏👏 GG
To balance Crystal Growth have the twinspell effect activate on the choose one effect e.g. if u choose a 2/2, you can only make another 2/2 and same for ancient
Crystal growth: 4 mana choose twice summon a 2/2 treat or transform one into a 5/5 ancient
for the crystal growth: make it echo instead of twinspell, fixed :p
You mean "Repeatable this Turn." xD
Hopefully I am not to late for trump to see my perfect solution
I get that in theory iron juggernaut mark 2 would basically be like shuffling an extra card in the opponents deck but if it did it would increase the outcome of drawing a bomb. Where as the doubling damage effect doesn't increase the likeliness to draw a bomb.
Crystal Growth (4 mana):
Choose one: Summon two 2/2 Treants or Transform up to two treants into a 5/5 Ancient.
If you give crystal growth ‘echo’ or ‘repeatable this turn’ it not longer poses the turn 2 5/5 problem and increases power for less flexibility
5:07 I would probably just remove the twinspell keyword to balance it. Probably too strong on that kind of a card
But then I would reduce its cost to 1, which would bear the problem of a 1 mana 3/3 when u cast on a existing treant
We see strong 1 mana 4 stat minions with good effects as class cards and in neutral, so this isn't far out at all
Crystal Growth, 4mana, Twinspell
Choose one:
summon two 2/2 treants; or transform your treants into 5/5 ancients
warptens wow you just copied the top comment.
Rude.
At first I didn't see the 4 Mana and laughed
Isn't "Back to the Basics" is just like the old custom card for Hunter called "Survival Pack" or something that had a similar effect?
who knows, people end up designing the same card over and over again completely unintentionally. there were like 5 different custom iterations of plot twist before the actual one got printed
Crystal Growth: Druid-Twinspell-Choose one:
-Summon a 2/2 Treant with ""can not be targeted by you spells during your next turn"
-Transform one into a 5/5 Ancient
(Yeah, it's a long description but what can you do beside creating a "word" for it :/)
I fixed Crystal Growth:
It is a common card so it should be mediocre.
Make it 4 mana that reads: Twinspell
choose one:
Summon 2 2/2 Treants or transform one into a 5/5 Ancient with taunt.
Then both options kind of suck though. You either pay one more mana for landscaping or 2 more mana for +1/+1 on Mark of The Wild
Bumbling burglar could be balanced by reading "Battlecry: Summon a 0/3 Alarm-o-Bot for your opponent at the end of your turn"
So the card should read something like "(insert card text, excluding twinspell) They both have twinspell." ?
I was thinking maybe Patches, in Charge would be decent if his text said, “Your pirates cost 3 less, but not less than 1.” 3 less might even be strong, maybe 2 less.
6:20 Maybe keep twinspell, but put a condition "if you control a treant", so the card would read "twinspell, if you control a Treant Choose One: summon another one; or Transform it into a 5/5 Ancient"
For 'Crystal Growth' balance change - give them either life steal or rush and make it 3 mana
I made portal master and cave hippo in this video. My CV for a job at blizzard is growing.
For Crystal Growth: Have the twinspell be the same one you have chosen the first time.
As now there are separate cards and art for the Choose One effects, have the card generated by Twinspell be the Choose One version of the one first used. No 4 mana 5/5 in this case.
Yea but then it's not twin spell anymore
@@Aeivious oh, it still is, you just don't get to choose one again for the second one.
That would balance it a bit.
2:15 That’s not like shuffling another bomb into the deck at all, that would increase the odds of taking damage not increase damage taken which is what the card is doing. Still agree with the ratings tho.
A way to fix Crystal Growth is to raise the mana cost to 4 and double the rewords (2 2X2 treants and 2 random transforms).
Suggested change to Mark II: NEUTRAL LEGENDARY
Transform all bombs in YOUR deck into mines that deal 10 damage, then shuffle them into your opponents deck.
The way to balance Crystal growth is:
Twinspell
Choose one - summon a 2/2 trant: or Transform one into a 5/5 treant with rush who dies at the end of your turn
I think that would be solid
You can give crystal grow echo instead of twinspell. This way you can't coin it out in 2cnd turn. And you can pay 4 mana for 5/5, or if you have any other treant upgrade it. This way card is good addition for treant deck. It pushes theme of treants and is decent card on it's own.
Crystal Growth---
Chose one - Summon a 2/2 treant or Transform a treant into and Elder 4/4
For Crystal Growth, just make the 2/2 not a treant. You either have summon two 2/2s, or transform an already played treant. But maybe that makes the ancient thing too weak? Just my two cents
You could make crystal growth a 4 mana spell with choose twice. In that case I don’t think twinspell is needed anymore
Crystal Growth
Twinspell
Choose One - Summon a 2/2 Treant; or Transform one into a 5/5
It can never start in your opening hand (like opposite of Quests); (BTW can not start in opening hand even after mulligan)
Crystal Growth fix; 4 mana Choose One - Summon two 2/2 Treants or transform your Treants into 5/5 Ancients
If it’s problematic when its too small than just make it a bit bigger.
I like it!
Crystal Growth 4 Mana
Twinspell
Choose One - Summon two 2/2 Treants; or Transform one into a 5/5 Ancient
Since there already is a 3 mana summon 2 treants spell, this on 3 would be kinda op with the flexibility and the fact that the first twinspell draws you a card. So its 3 Mana for the Effect basically and 1 for the Twinspell and flexibility
Make crystal growth cost three mana, make the second portion of the spell cost less if you control a treant
Problem with that, the Twinspell should have the same wording (without the 'Twinspell'' word the 2nd time).
Crystal Growth needs just one line of text, but shorten it to HS standard somehow (keyword?), and it's as follows:
You can only activate Crystal Growth once per turn
Or if you want to keep some power in it:
You can only activate this card once per turn. - which allows you to activate other Crystal Growth if you have second copy in your hand
Sachi ... But that isn't the problem. The problem is turn one crystal growth with coin into turn two crystal growth. You literally made it ONLY abusable.
The problem with crystalgrowth is that you can summon treants in other ways, then you can get two 5/5 for 4 mana.
Crystal Growth - Twinspell - 2 mana
Choose One: Summon a 2/2 Treant for both players; or Transform one into a 5/5 Ancient.
Druid has more synergy with Tokens so the "Equal" effect doesn't make it bad. The opponent can trade with your Treant to prevent Coin > T1 Tree > T2 Ancient. Using both Spells the same turn is effectively 4 mana 3/3 (Because you give your opponent 2/2 stats) but with flexibility (You can trade with the enemies 2/2)
that would make the card shit
for the crystal growth, I've thinking about a nerf by 1 mana and a summon a treant WHICH GIVES YOU AN EMPTY CRYSTAL MANA as deathrattle
Crystal Growth: 3 mana, no twinspell, choose one: summon 2x 2/2 treants or transform 1 treant into 5/5 ancient
Twinspell - The second copy of this costs (3) mana.
Choose One - Summon a 2/2 Treant, or transform one into a 5/5 ancient.
Yeah it does break the rule of twinspell, but it's still pretty flavorful. And I think it's balanced then.
Or make it cost 5 next time
Make Crystal Growth an Echo card instead of Twinspell. It would remove the "turn 2 5/5" option, but it would add the flexibility of being usable as either a weak treespeaker or a weak forest's aid in late-game.
The iron juggernaut doesn’t double bombs, it replaces them. It just replaces them. That should change the balance.
Ooh, or 3 mana twinspell with summon a 2/2 or transform all into 5/5
My idea for Crystal growth is to experiment with "Choose one" with two different mana costs.
Summoning 2 2/2 treants for 4 seems a tad weak, compared to landscaping, but it’s flexible.
crystal growth: 3 cost twinspell choose one: summon 2 2/2 treants or change a treant into a 5/5 ancient
Still a better landscaping with great flexibility
Instead of summoning it, it can just go in you hand at first and then make the ancient a 3 5/5 that you can summon into your hand
