Craig Clayton is an adorable person. Had a supervisor like him once. Worked my tail off for that guy because I liked the guy so much and wanted to make him look REALLY GOOD in front of his bosses. . I'm disturbed by the good people speaking out against bullying stating that in order to be considered bullying, the behavior has to be persistent. Why is that? If a boss or coworker bullies someone only a few times a year, doing it every now and then, it's still bullying. No one should have to tolerate the behavior AT ALL. It's not okay to be subjected to it even once !!!
When you're bold and courageous and move yourself from victim to target status you get terminated. Human resources doesn't like targets. Someone that identifies themselves as a target might file a lawsuit so HR sees them as a threat.
***** Oh I no exactly what you are talking about and have been through the same thing with an agency known as Gateway Rehabilitation Systems that contracted and still contracts with The Allegheny County Department of Corrections. My immediate supervisor and her superior wanted me to commit perjury to a Department of Corrections investigator who was investigating a young woman who was close friends with my immediate supervisor. This young woman, an employee under my immediate supervision was videotaped on our surveillance system at our work/release program engaging in oral sex with a male inmate. Because she was friends with my immediate supervisor or I should say Director and I was the Assistant Director, it was determined that I should be terminated because they knew I would not lie to the Department of Corrections because it was legally and morally wrong. This shit goes on all across the U.S. everyday. High School is now the new mentality of the American workplace. Sad, sad, sad!!

This was extremely validating! I am a woman, currently being bullied by a female supervisor. She bullies other women, but I seem to be her favorite target. I think my knowledge of the system of operations and ability to comprehend workload reports and how they reflect both overtime assistance requirements and performance, threatens her. I also happen to be the wife of the senior supervisor in our city, who could easily be offered the station manager position she originally applied for, and had to prove herself as a supervisor before being given that job. My husband wisely advised me to get a small notebook and document everything, including the dates the incidents occurred. He also advised me to, in spite of how I felt inside during the attacks, to always remain calm and collected. To let HER get out of control in front of everyone else. I'ts not easy, but I do it, and when I get away from her, I then allow myself to cry.

My boss is bullying me now because he feels threaten by my knowledge and reputation. It is his first time in a management role and to make matters worse he is super insecure. he does the "subtle bullying" ... making me feel left out and not giving me credit. I closed this huge deal this past week that will make our organization tons of money... not a peep from him. Last month my counterpart in another city brought in a deal not even half the size of the one i brought in and he got all these praises and an email to everybody in our group congratulating him. I noticed that these bullies get management roles thanks to their awesome kissing ass techniques. They are not the smartest but they are certainly good at going to all the right happy hours and managing up... being part of the "good old boys club". Thankfully, I document everything and I have a lot of dirt on this asshole. I am already interviewing with other companies so hopefully I will not be putting up with his bullying much longer.
Good luck!! Take your smartness somewhere else please let the company know the reason you are leaving after you remind them how much money that YOU EARNED FIR THEM!

I worked on a job I was harassed so bad but they done it all in a sneaky way. I want under so much stress behind the stuff that they was doing to me I wonder having a stroke and did not know that I was having a stroke. but I think God the stroke didn't affect me and the wrong way .
What a great interview from Mr Clayton, everything he says is correct. Sometimes though, for the sake of your health and sanity the best choice is to walk away. I'm currently fighting a case where I was bullied for 5 years, I left the job and 2 years later I'm still fighting the case including an employment tribunal but there are time limits. GDPR is a powerful tool, if an organisation is storing or processing false accusations or information about you, you are entitled to have this rectified. Good record keeping is essential, bullies can't hide from the truth and HR are foolish to try.
I agree! though I think there is a spectrum of empathy, with psychopaths who have no empathy at the far end and varying degrees of authoritarian personality, all of whom have deficient levels of empathy.
Document each instance: date, time, what was said or done and who was there. Get an attorney or go to the union (if there is one). If it is causing physical problems (panic attacks) go to your Doctor. Do not go to HR. Their purpose is to protect the company against law suits.
I recently lost my hair to covid. couple of males at work were calling me figures that are gay with short hair. when I approached them the one went off on me. management told me I was too sensitive.
We have about 20 ppl in my department. The biggest ways bullying effects us is through teamwork. People are threatened and get territorial, unwilling to go that extra 2%, and they spend on-the-clock time watching their back.
That is so true! People have to spend so much mental energy and time defending themselves in the workplace that I think the loss of productivity goes far beyond what is mentioned in this video. I have a co-worker who spends all of his day writing emails and taking notes to build a legal case against our employer. He is almost non productive at this point, and has become unpleasant and inappropriate as well.
I worked at an agency where several of the men really didn't like me, but it seems they reason they didn't like me was my lack of fear in speaking up and standing up for myself. The other ladies in the office were so subservient and fearful that they let themselves be treated any old way. If I'm your peer, and the VP in charge has even SAID I'm your peer, why do you expect to treat and talk to me like I'm your secretary?? Well...they eventually got me written up and then fired. It pisses me off still to have had some of the women there say how much they hated the way they were treated yet not stand up for themselves.
This really resonated with me. My boss who is very demanding but conducts herself in an appropriate manner and is very respected is friends with the person who has made me feel stupid and ineffective, despite monthly/quarterly/half yearly and yearly reviews to the contrary. I am not perfect at my job, I have strengths and weaknessess. My weaknesses in the role has impacted this person in that she has had a role in rectifying my errors. However F2F interactions have led to very confrontational and condescending dressing downs in a vocal manner which has been humiliating and soul destroying as it has been in a public forum. I don't know that she does it delibrately out of malice or spite, she is well like and respected in the team, moreso than I. I don't know if I am being bullied or not by this person or if she is just taking out her frustration with me due to my lack of technical skillls and submissive personality (does not impact my performance and make it up in other ways) She has been excessively condescending but not nasty.
Antoinette Novella Get you a usb recorder off Amazon and keep it in your pocket and don’t tell anyone, as it’s illegal to secretly record someone, but it’s proof of how ur being treated. Also, you gotta learn how to stand up for yourself. They won’t respect you if you don’t respect yourself. Read self help books, watch motivational videos, pray for guidance, look for a WFH job, work on your intelligence and appearance, etc.
I've worked at 3 companies where backstabbing was an acceptable behavior. One was a clear cut case of bullying. That company was in the Joliet, Il area. It was the worst job I ever had. I loved the work, was in repeated bad situations resulting from actions on the part of my coworkers which made the job miserable. Glad I'm not there anymore
an important point you should do is record all is happening as said in the video but do it and send it as an email to yourself,, the time and date on it are very important. and will help you should things go further
Our work bully purposely doesn’t train others so he can be the only one to know how to do things. The GM won’t reprimand him because he needs him. He even lied through his teeth in a meeting about a very inappropriate statement he made. Then I was told I shouldn’t be so sensitive. I don’t even have feelings! He makes people cry and quit.
My coworker is in my class with the students. She reamed on me recently about a lesson taught. I've never felt so humiliated by a peer. And, I thought we started a friendship. She acted out of control- and then, returned with more criticisms. It was her approach. And, I am showing up better than ever, smiling- through her rudeness. I don't plan to stoop or be bitter. We have 4 weeks left. I'll use her crap as fertilizer to enhance all of me. Sadly, she is retiring and this is best advice to a peer her own age. I have pity for her, but i will not let it change me for anything less than more greatness.
HR will take your statement but won't give you a copy and signage of your statement it proves HR BIAS make sure you record with your cell in audio when they say they will give you a copy latter you got them in wrongful dismissal
Wow. I'm being bullied by my boss who got her job through her freind. They have made my life hell. I finally got a lawyer. They are jealous of my background and education. The way I look and dress. I have a master's degree and very knowledgeable I my position. My boss repeatedlywrites me up for false events, reduced my pay to show I'm incompetent and to make herself look competent and deserving of her job.
The only solution is to make it illegal. That is the only way that for profit and non profits will comply. HR attracts bullying personalities, because of the power over people they have in organizations. The 12 types of workplace bullies can be organized into 3 types: those who are looking for reasons to harass you, those who are creating reasons to harass you, and those who are inventing/lying about reasons to harass you. The first amplifies weaknesses or mistakes, the second creates chaos and stress, intentionally triggering and sabotaging. The third is a liar who kisses up and kicks down. Their motivation is a sensation of control that eases their anxiety, typically an anxiety that they are frauds in the workplace, yet they have the narcissistic belief that they deserve to be in charge. Kissing up is the desire to have the belief in their superiority confirmed by authority. They are desperate for this. Some bullies go beyond this and enjoy hurting the people around them, as the ultimate sensation of control. Researchers at MIT have observed that as the sensation of control increases, the anxiety pathways in the brain are quieted. There is a direct correlation in both directions. There are many positive ways to experience a sense of control, unfortunately bullies have developed or learned only negative ways to act out on other people.
Are used to work for Baltimore city DPW. It was one of my coworkers turning everybody against me. And also my superintend . I was bully so bad two could not take it anymore. They went as far with me have a new work a come in 2016 they sent her into the locker room to get in my face and started arguing with me. And when I went to go make a complaint about it oldest son it was nobody in the yard. And I know for a fact as long as I was working there it was always someone in the yard and I have been working there every since 2009. When I went in there the next day to say something about what she had dead nobody gave me a chance to say anything. That particular day I was told by my superintend I was going to be transferred to a NotherYards .And when I left in 20016
Motivation for bullying is fairly predictable within certain workplace environments. Healthcare and higher education both top the list of significantly hostile workplaces. This is often motivated by self-interest to rise in the hierarchy of the institution, to achieve tenure or to prevent others from achieving tenure, and to win support from stakeholders that may influence renewal of your employment contract. College campuses invite this destructive power struggle by the tradition of the sacred "vote of no confidence" system that impacts the contract renewal of an administrator who is new to the campus or new to their position. The faculty holds the power of the "vote of no confidence"; they represent the Academic arm of the campus. However, the Student Services function of any campus is equally vital towards the proverbial goal of student retention! Imagine students navigating college attendance without the support of the Financial Aid Department, or Admissions, Academic Advisement, Counseling, the Testing Department, Veterans and Disability Services to name a few Student Services areas. Additionally, for public institutions anyway, it is very difficult to fire a certified employee. This encourages the hideously prevalent practice of "department hopping" or "campus shuffling" ie: incompetent people who happen to experience some level of reckoning are simply able to move to a different department on campus or transfer to a different campus within the district. They make this transition with what appears to be a crystal clean public servant record because they were never appropriately censored or disciplined. A horribly untalented or toxic Dean or Vice President will be welcomed to the new campus who is grateful for their administrative resume. As a result, they are free to employ all the passive-aggressive, sloppy, unethical and even illegal behaviors that they always did. There is nothing to interrupt the pattern of historical behavior; both from the bullies and from the decision-makers who negotiate with them and almost always know about their poisonous styles or are the actual Dr. Frankenstein to the Igor of their creation. Bullies are frequently puppets for someone else higher up the chain of command. Documentation of bad behavior is usually easily obtained by sending an e-mail to the bully after a specifically improper exchange. Thank them for their instruction to you, and then ask innocent questions under the guise of needing their guidance or clarification to be able to fulfill their "important directive" (aka employee rights violation, unethical, or illegal demands). Sometimes all it takes is a simple e-mail asking for a deadline please for that important task to be completed. Viola. Your inbox should begin to fill up with a time-stamped personal signature electronic message that serves as your "Merry Christmas to You" evidence. Transfer it to a flash drive and do your homework to compile as much documentation as possible. Learn how to set your phone or computer to create a digital voice recording file. Finally, once you are locked in the sights of a determined bully who is in a position of authority over you, settle in your mind that you will fight back, yes - but you probably have no future working there again. Push back; retain an employment attorney or an ADA attorney if your issue includes disability discrimination, or learn how to officially declare whistleblower status if warranted - with your appropriate documentation and detailed witness of events and actions the institution will absolutely huff and puff but they cannot blow your house down. They will most likely settle with you rather than risk the bad publicity of a public trial. Move on. Accept that some people think that a PhD, an MD, an RS or other titles are divine sanction. Know that weak people often have black hearts and believe whatever lie of the day they whisper to themselves that must justify the fact that they are spineless, horrible people. Bullies often are not that smart, they are not creative, and they usually become exponentially more careless and cavalier in their bad behavior the longer they are permitted to operate with impunity. Their false confidence might plop sweet evidence into your lap with hilariously little effort on your part. At the end of the day, you can be certain you know who YOU are and what your moral compass is as a testimony to your life story. Bullies may have to postpone that special confirmation until they are standing before the Highest authority in the universe. Hopefully, you might be able to silently stand there as judgment is meted out along with the other victims as a gentle reminder of the damage done.
I think it is very true that bullies are often operating for and with the consent of someone above. An institution can go sour very quickly when a bully is in a high position. One reason is because psychopaths and authoritarians only understand and therefore trust each other, and hire each other when possible. I think the technical term is "henchman", and in narrative, bullies are usually represented with 2 sidekicks, that is enforcers. The situation is simultaneously defensive and aggressive, as the henchmen do the dirty work, and can be thrown under the bus if needs be. Because of their lack of empathy, their inability to see others as having feelings etc., they don't understand or trust people who do have empathy. They see us as other, as fools, as pawns, and alas as targets.
@@svharken6907 Exactly! Well said! That's exactly what happened to me! The President of the college kept a low profile while issuing brutally discriminatory and relaliatory directives to his VP (an individual with zero administrative experience; easier to manipulate maybe) who immediately recruited her "hitwoman" from another campus to be our new Dean (another individual well known to the district HR for her malignant behavior at every campus she darkened-she prompted many good people to retire early, ask for a transfer, or just quit) to swoop in and mindlessly perform the dirty work at the behest of the VP. When it was time for her 2nd contract renewal (and after our lawsuits and many others because of this behavior), she was shuffled away to a sister campus with a huge demotion BUT a sparkling resume. No accountability. My lawsuit did not directly involve interaction with the President. But my boss's did: In his lawsuit, only in the disclosure did the evidence finally come to light that the President himself (while all the while playing the benevolent, charming people-person, soft-spoken leader) gave the orders to destroy careers, to slander and lie, to intentionally destroy and dismantle the disability department and remove disability rights from students with disabilities who could not advocate for themselves. The evidence was in black and white e-mails. What an idiot! Evil-doers get sloppy eventually! It was breath-taking. The great irony was about a year later after both of us were pushed off campus, the President of the college suddenly became legally DEAF. Not making this up. When I learned about it, I could not believe the grand irony of it all. Incredible. What a bloody legacy.
Thank you much for this segment. I I’m being bullied by a co- worker. I said to him I know what your up to and if it doesn’t stop I will speak up. This is what he does in the courses of our day we wrk. 13 hrs. He will come over @ my station and stand in front of me on his cell phone for minutes. Then he will look @ me in a stair until I feel Someone eating me you know and it causes us to lookup ;) and it’s him looking @ me . Trying to get me to look& him. He’s campaigned 2 other people to do the same. He’s very sneakie about it no one sees him except This time my co worker next to me🤔 she looked @ me wondered why he was standing@ the trash he dumps after it was pushed down already;) yet just standing there on his phone wanting me to say something;) I continue to ignore it and he moves away after minutes standing on phone on company’s clock 😳 Any subjections 🤔 I’m strong yet I’m humans as well .
Dude contradicted himself. He said it only crosses the line when it gets personal and isn’t limited to work performance. Right after, he said it can also come in the form of micromanaging/riding you on your performance. I agree with the latter, but he should have cleared that up.
Question is.... what do you do when the Bully is the CEo? and you report to the CEO and the whole organization even the BOARD is actually being bullied by the CEO mircromanager the tactic the CEO uses is that he sets the payscale very high, so people take it bec they know that they cannot find a similar job at that high rate of pay, but the whole organization lives in fear and exhibits ALL of the traits of being the vicim....
yep. my direct supervisor undermines me every chance he gets and I have very limited acess to the rest of the team. He is seen as a high-value employee.
yea cuz i was gone go to do extra hours today but i didnt cuz ion like how im bein treated by this new manager who is younger than me n only got his position because he is related to the bosses
Everything he said happened to me and legal action is being taken. bully and mobbing is being massively a trend. Even in 3rd world country there is already law, and in USA no? wait and see so many consequences employees getting sick and crippled.
CONSTANT Criticism bulling, screamers bulling. They must be really miserable on their lives. 2 faces bad mouth, remaster, manipulater, queen syndrome-queen bee.etc

Absolutely correct!
I feel it actually happens more at work than at school.
Yep. No one bullied me at school. But, at work? OMG.
Pete S. I work in a Highschool and happened to me I am not a teacher but I am a woman !!! Wonder????
when you complain to HR they will see you as a liability.
What if 95 percent of the employees complain about one person? Would HR consider each person a liability?
it is true..they say if you are not happy..you can leave...
Yes, it's called blackballed.
+Barbara Chipman When you complain to HR they won't see you at all.
I agree, nobody wants to deal with it

The only person who speaks on behalf of targets is Dr. Namie.
Peer to peer bullying is unilaterally supported by spineless and fellow bully supervisors. Bullies are weak and can not function independently.
Fukn Right 👍🏽
Supervisors encourage peer to peer bullying. Divide and conquer is their plan

You have to be tougher than the bully, fight back and don't be a victim
That means be the bigger bully?
Bullying is never an acceptable action. No one could ever deserve to the bullied. Great video!
Why do they do it? Psychopathy. Plain and simple.
I agree! though I think there is a spectrum of empathy, with psychopaths who have no empathy at the far end and varying degrees of authoritarian personality, all of whom have deficient levels of empathy.
@@svharken6907 if any empathy at all lol they are DEMONS.
knowledge is power
Document each instance: date, time, what was said or done and who was there. Get an attorney or go to the union (if there is one). If it is causing physical problems (panic attacks) go to your Doctor. Do not go to HR. Their purpose is to protect the company against law suits.
Craig Clayton you wd be a superb personal mentor. A life saver.
An excellent presentation. The discussion provided important details to identify and address workplace bullying.
I recently lost my hair to covid. couple of males at work were calling me figures that are gay with short hair. when I approached them the one went off on me. management told me I was too sensitive.
Hi Pastor Craig I Love You much and pray all is well with you and your family.
No one says what to do or how to file charges.
He is almost non productive at this point, and has become unpleasant and inappropriate as well.
you are definitely making a difference, thanks for this video.
This is a fantastic video! I’ve watched it twice now. Great expert!
The company loyalty is also going down.
Excellent interview. Empowering..
Bullies are a child in an adult body w a low emotional intelligence and easily threatened. Documentation and an ear on the ground.
I thought I was alone .... I am not unfortunately. Shocking... sad.... not on. How to stop!!
Glad I'm not there anymore
yes I agree! I am and was picked on
an important point you should do is record all is happening as said in the video but do it and send it as an email to yourself,, the time and date on it are very important. and will help you should things go further
Craig seemed to hit almost every type of workplace bullying. My only question would be what do you do in those situations other than documentation?
Very well spoken. Thank you for this video.
Very informative. Thank you!
Thanks for this video. I was a victim and now standing up for myself.
This video may have either saved my career OR it just told me to retire to Walmart as a door greeter.
What a lovely man thanks 👍
Thankyou,,very empowering.
Great Video/ reallz valuable information. thank you
All these terms fit my boss..a chief of a fire department. ..micro manager. .two headed snake and many more. The target is on my back too.
You don't deserve to be treated that way. Please leave as soon as you can. God Bless you.
That particular day I was told by my superintend I was going to be transferred to a NotherYards .And when I left in 20016
Women such as me get bullied my whole life these Dam demons
I so sick of it
He is sure telling the truth .
They are everywhere in Government. Hard to fire a government employee.
Thank you. Well stated. Wonderful
He’s very sneakie about it no one sees him except
This time my co worker next to me🤔 she looked @ me wondered why he was standing@ the trash he dumps after it was pushed down already;) yet just standing there on his phone wanting me to say something;) I continue to ignore it and he moves away after minutes standing on phone on company’s clock 😳 Any subjections 🤔 I’m strong yet I’m humans as well .
Dude contradicted himself. He said it only crosses the line when it gets personal and isn’t limited to work performance. Right after, he said it can also come in the form of micromanaging/riding you on your performance. I agree with the latter, but he should have cleared that up.
Chambers of Commerce don't want the Healthy Workplace bill passed.
The Chamber of Commerce is a right wing authoritarian institution..so of course they don't!!
I find that most interesting. WHY not? What do they have to lose?
Question is.... what do you do when the Bully is the CEo? and you report to the CEO and the whole organization even the BOARD is actually being bullied by the CEO mircromanager the tactic the CEO uses is that he sets the payscale very high, so people take it bec they know that they cannot find a similar job at that high rate of pay, but the whole organization lives in fear and exhibits ALL of the traits of being the vicim....
If the CEO of a small company (not publicly traded) is the bully, you need to find a new job.
yep. my direct supervisor undermines me every chance he gets and I have very limited acess to the rest of the team. He is seen as a high-value employee.
Companies love bullies but hate the victim the bullies get away with it and they might end up sacking the victim
Here I am, 12 year's on watching this video, being bullied at work 😭😢
Very good conversation
Fantastic interview.
I was never bullied in school nor in the job until now and fuck it makes me suicidal
Omg thank you so much!
Absolutely excellent
Solution?
yea cuz i was gone go to do extra hours today but i didnt cuz ion like how im bein treated by this new manager who is younger than me n only got his position because he is related to the bosses
Just saw this. The lady is good!
How about managers throwing subordinates under the bus for missed due dates or blown budgets in an effort to save upper managers.
Harassments is a civil & criminal crime. Problem is,,, you'd need a untold number of stadiums to incarcerate them.
Thank's for this video...
I don't understand when he said about the snoop.
People don't quit jobs, they quit managers.
I wonder if civil suits would solve this.
I very support this show
Everything he said happened to me and legal action is being taken. bully and mobbing is being massively a trend. Even in 3rd world country there is already law, and in USA no? wait and see so many consequences employees getting sick and crippled.
I don’t find anything fruitful from this entire cast of two, and what may I be labeled?
9:22 behaviors such as?
CONSTANT Criticism bulling, screamers bulling. They must be really miserable on their lives. 2 faces bad mouth, remaster, manipulater, queen syndrome-queen bee.etc

The interviewer is clueless about bullying.
