The Shooting Show - Pest control with an FAC-rated air rifle and stalking spikers in the red rut

- This week Mark Ripley steps back from his foxing duties and heads out armed with an FAC-rated air rifle for a few rabbits. Previewing the new #pixfra Pixfra Ranger R635 thermal spotter, Mark soon accounts for several rabbits, however, he can’t leave his foxing commitments alone for very long and he’s soon setting his sights on bigger game.
Then we’re on to the red rut, as Chris Rogers is out looking for specific spikers or young stags to cull. With a late start to the rut things are finally getting going, but the deer Chris are looking for are playing hard to get. Deer management is about more than just shooting, and Chris takes us through some different areas of the estate explaining some of the intricacies of his job and the history of red deer on the estate.

Keep an eye on the shooting and country tv channel too, I’ve been doing videos for them too and there’s a few long range shots gone out on there 👍

We’ve not had any rabbit’s down south for about 10 years. Unfortunately mixi is back with a vengeance!
I think mark is in Sussex so quite southern.
The myxomatosis does certainly rear its head every now and then in different areas and I’ve certainly seen a big drop in rabbits in some areas while other areas still seem to thrive! I think the vhd has done the rounds in many areas which has been devastating to the bunny population as a whole 🤦🏻♂️
