I know it sounds silly, but I listen and look forward to the fiddle on the intro.
I do too but I think it is a cello.
A favorite of mine: Johann Strauss - An der schöen blauen Donau............
th-cam.com/video/hBPUundF1dA/w-d-xo.html
That's a cello
Yeah, it is a Cello/ Violoncello but the Fiddle's actual name is Violin...
But yeah, i love the intro too and i'am humming along with it all the time. Just can't help myself!
Yep same
Japanese carcano!? Didn't even know that existed that'd awesome. Also sub 1000 views this is the earliest I've ever been on this channel. This is such a cool find.
I only learned about japanese carcano by going into an autistic rabbithole on watching attack on titan season 4 thinking fitting the eldians with carcano seemed kinda random.
The fact Mae makes a chimera spaghetti from ramen is such a bizarre bit of poetry to this episode.
I thought it was japanese made and sold to Italy.
I bought the receivers to one of these as it was marked as a m38 and I quickly realized it wasn't when I couldn't get a bolt in it then realized the stripper clip guide thank you guys so so much I'd have had no clue what I had without this
🎉200 epsiode congratulations for all of you c&rsenal crew!🎉
As a guy who eventually gets tired of just about everything after a while, I've watched 200 of these primers and I'd like to pat myself on the back. But seriously, you guys do a great job. I look forward to these
35:08 I may be a little too pedantic sometimes but I really am grateful for your astounding efforts and your dedication.
Really glad to offer a small contribution to such a huge project.
Keep on the good work!
Fun fact about the type I carcano cleaning rod, it's VERY similar to the type 38, but there is a star stamped below the patch loop.
and the length is juuust slightly different.
Hi guys happy 200. greetings from Denmark
Reheated pizza and a Primer for breakfast, does life get any better than this? 😊
The smile on Mae’s face says it all….having fun and enjoying life 😊
Ballistol is some of the best stuff I've ever bought for gun and general machine care. If you haven't yet, do it, and thank yourself.
Neat. My grandfather brought one home from the war (he got it in Shanghai if I recall correctly). Going by the video it’s an FNA (s/n G5220)
As the video says, you can disassemble it and check under the receiver. Also, bolt parts, if matching, should be all marked with the small FNA logo too
I always love hearing the Ballistol promotion
I have one of these, great rifle, probably the best Italy made. Several years ago, a local dealer got in a bunch of them, that were all still in the white, unblued. I grabbed one, and never saw them again. Carcanosaka
I had one of these that needed the stock spliced amongst a series of small repairs. Spending a week on it and getting to know it really made me appreciate how cool the carcano action could be when it wasn't on a typical carcano.
Two Hundred Episodes
Congratulations and thanks for your hard work for all these years!
You guys made my night, again! Thanks
I bought my first can of Ballistol from Gunner's Firearms. Looking forward to its use.
Got mine from Brownells
Great episode! Getting into WW2 weapons! Great!
Can’t believe it’s been 2 weeks already, this year is flying by. Another great episode
Leatherman and Ballistol, what one won't undo the other will. No fastening can resit the pair.
Just so you know, that stock is made from European Beech wood. You can tell by the fairly light color and those cross grain streaks all over it.
Excellent again as usual you guys! Love the idea behind this rifle and concept for it so interesting!
Love that wired forgotten weapons stuff
Excellent video!
Yet another deep dive taken to crush depth ❤
I had no idea this existed, but it's really neat (and looks nice)! Excellent coverage of the Japanese pronounciation too, and this sort of naming layout is common to a lot of foreign Japanese weapons ("Type" and then a shorthand for the company/country instead of a year number). For example, the French Hotchkiss Modèle 1929 (13.2mm MG) was adopted by the IJN as the Type 93, but by the IJA as the Type Ho. The Navy also had the British QF 2-pounder ("pom-pom") as the Type Bi ("bi" = "vi").
Congrats in reaching the 200 video in primer
A unexpected dose of Italian Rice Noddles!
I saw one of these at a gun show a few years ago but since the stock had been heavily sporterized I figured that it had to be a very strange Bubba special.
Yoooooo My great grandfather brought one of these home. My father still has it and I've gotten to shoot it once and overall I would say 'It's a rifle' lol. But it's super cool to hear more about the history of the gun and actually might help me know where my great grandfather was stationed when he was in the occupation of Japan!
This honestly reminds me that mixing Japan with Italy is usually a mix of sacrilege. Like how Japan uses Ketchup on their "pasta nepolitan"
I use ketchup in my red sauces... not a lot, and I am an Ozarkian hillbilly
I'd argue a better example is the ubiquitous Japanese Pizza. Tuna, corn, and mayo.😅 You'll find it in most pizza shops in Japan because it's so popular.🤷
Oh, and they also have a potato pizza. It has chunks of potato on it, with mayo.
(Remember, Japanese mayo is richer and far less sour, a bit sweeter than Western mayo, so it's honestly not that bad of a combo for pizza.😅)
I giappi sono italiani ad honorem
1st time I saw corn on pizza was in Germany
Thanks
Yooo we finally hit 200! Love the content, as always!
Carcano? More like Carca-Yes!
I had one of those. My uncle had just graduated Navy Boot Camp and was on the West Coast when the war ended. He picked up several weapons from returning servicemen. That rifle looked brand new.
Bruh why didn't I get a notification for this video, this looks super interesting
I'm looking forward to the more less known guns gang. Great work as always!
I want to see a rundown video of cartridge development and the eventuality that yall finish with current plans with the era that yall focus on unique and odd guns
They don’t have a specific era focus, and they haven’t for a long time now. They just cover what is opportune
Came here for the very unusual Japanese/Italian hybrid, stayed for the history. Good history, love it. Who says Americans don't have a sense for international politics and history?
Horay, more Japan-related guns!
Hey folks, I congratulated you on number 200 over on Playeur, I’m just feed ing the algorithm here.
I've been a fan of your site almost from the beginning, and I've often wondered, how many of those guns behind you actually belong to you?
Great informative video! The Shanghai SNLF is one of my main areas of research but I had no idea they ended up with Type I rifles like some of the other naval units in China did. Too bad theres almost no pics of the Shanghai SNLF in 44-45 when they would have had them.
Thanks for posting! Love the work
Thanks for sharing 👍
lol taofledermaus cameo in the ballistol advert. yes!🎉
Great Video!
You know you're old when you remember seeing 2 or 3 of these in like new condition in a now defunct sporting goods store. For under $100ea.
Thanks for another really informative and interesting episode
Excellent, unique rifle, great episode.
Would really like y’all to cover the Austrian capture Type 38’s in 6.5 Mannlicher-Schoenauer and how that turned out.
Sorry, but if you buy a WWII bunker on the beach and fill it with guns and scooters you are required to become a Bond villain. I don't make the rules.
Another fun and informative video guys!
If there WAS a Lebel rifle with a box magazine and a Buffington sight, it would be awesome!
Lebel M27 is close
Ballistol for my skillet, my knives, especially the ones of carbon steel and my safety razor.
Been looking forward to this video ever since I heard it on the road map over on the patreon! Managed to snag one for myself before y'all cause the prices to jump(kidding)
The wood is beech. Perfectly adequate for the task and both cheaper and available in quantity straight from dealers who held large stocks (no pun intended) of seasoned wood as a routine general furniture etc. hardwood. The Enfield no4 used the same species in lieu of scarce, expensive good walnut.
That would make sense for England. Beech is a common particularly in the south. Walnut is not native to the UK and generally grown as a specimen tree
Learned a lot from another excellent C&Rsenal video, especially enlightened about Mae's Ramen Spaghetti. 😂😂
Good work.
It’s イ式小銃 and 伊式小銃 not “火銃”.
I didn’t notice that carcanorifle website used the materials that I prepared for Anderson’s video.
The description in carcanorifle website’s article is kind of misleading. It says “officially for Manchukuo”. In reality, Manchukuo was simply used as a cover.
@@mauserinchinaaaronzou88He saw your comment and it’s probably a translation error. Talking with him right now.
I quoted both you and Anderson in the website, both in the intro and in the sources, and the entire page was created side by side with Anderson ;) I took the chance of this Video launch to also add an even further thank you note for all of you guys!
Officially as in formally, I clearly state that it was mostly a cover, english is not my first language so small misunderstandings are easy to spot! I already corrected it tho, thank you for your input!
I’m glad you convey this information that unrealized before on your website.
How is that misleading? That’s exactly what the word “officially” means.
@@EldritchMadness The only involvement of Manchukuo in purchasing Type I was that Japanese would claim the rifle were for Manchukuo if information got leaked. Japanese wanted Italy to recognize Manchukuo as an independent country and admitted it into Anti-Comintern Pact. Purchasing weapons was part of deal Japan-Italy-Manchukuo pact.
I love Ballistol. It works great on so many things. I buy so much of it as I find it works on everything. I can't balance our budget, we are barely able to buy food but the 200 liter drum is such an economical purchase. I have twelve. Please, I have a problem, and its that I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH BALLISTOL
Now i want to see a cooking episode with Mae.
Alt-history rifle. Love it. Maybe that should be a podcast episode.
3:55 I feel that this is is an overstatement.
22:05 I have a reason to doubt this statement, since there's a (sadly, mislabeled) Type I in the Border guards museum in Moscow, which indicates that it was captured somewhere near Soviet-Chinese or Soviet-Japanese border at the time: either in Manchuria or on Sakhalin.
are you ever doing more Its a trap!, its your best show and I like your other stuff
Very nice, both informative and funny.❤
The Italians never get enough credit.
It reminds me of anything Browning designed. You have to work it like you're mad.
Only today did I realize the 36 inch bar on my leatherface chainsaw is fairly close to the length of a gun
Beretta markings are subtle, but can be found on some examples.
not all carcanos are grindy/sludgy for the action. i have a LOT of them, all ww1 and earlier, of various manufacturer and year, and i have 1 that is the smoothest action i have ever seen on any milsurp. and that one came out of ethiopa! imagine what it must have been like prior to that.
[with a lot of elbow grease and some literal grease the rest of them, except a few... are acceptable on the action.]
i miss the cartoonish, black and white, era accurate music dubbed ww1 quick cuts that used to get inserted into these...They made me happy. Probably a lot of extra work and potential cwrite issues?
Alas, the format is still outstanding...Thank You.
Wood is Faggio ( Fagus sylvaticus) or European Beech. Same as for M38 FC Carcano.
I will say I miss the music when it’s time to shoot 😢but still great video!
This type of thing heavily reminds me of the turkish conversions done to the gewehr 88/05 called the 88/05/35 bringing up to the 1938 pattern of standardization. I think those rifles are super duper neat for the same reason these japanese carcanos are neat.
Stock is beech with those moon shapes flecks.
When I heard about Mae’s creation, it reminded me of Tomato Ramen!
24:20 So make ramen, pour off the water, then add pasta sauce. I'll try that some time.
Does Mae use Marie's *Authentic* Spaghetti sauce recipe???
It's not a crime, but calling Ramen spaghetti feels like it should be.
Edit: this was NOT a comment for this video😂 I was listening to the video while scrolling recommend vids. Something from shorts caught my eye. I went to make a comment and I guess it posted it here😅
You know that Pokemon mashup thing where it combines two Pokemon? We need one of those but for rifles.
Looking forward to Murata content! I can lend my rifles if it's needed!
Now *that* is what I consider the holy grail when it comes to Japanese firearms.
@@paleoph6168 I also load for them as well. So I can provide othias load data.
@@paleoph6168I load for both calibers as well so I can offer the load data as well
Man where the heck did you even get a Murata rifle?
@@yeetyateyote5570 keep an eye online! I just need a type 18 short rifle to have each Murata
I wish carcano ammo was available its the only way I could afford a classic military rifle in my life
Check out PPU and Steinel ammo.
Love this channel. Have not purchased any rifles since I got married 10 years ago. To hell if I my wife will ever make me give up my burnished wood and steel beauties. They gave me joy before you ever did hun.
Spaghetti Eastern
A number of famous (Spaghetti) Westerns were based on Japanese stories, as it happens. And in double checking this I learned that apparently in Japan they instead call them Macaroni Westerns. :D
Whoot whoot
Another weird fact during WW1 Russia and Japan are now allies, the Russians are so short of weapons they bought some Arisaka rifles from the Japanese some of these rifles were used against them 10 years earlier.
The Japanese government allowed arms shipments from the US to Vladivostok until August 1945.
Had one of these in High School. Sold it for chump change. Never regretted it
Congratulations on the 200th episode!
Great work, still waiting for the 7,35.
I know you guys bring the gun down to check feeding and ammo, but how fast do you guys think you could run some of these guns?
Interesting, my stock isn't shortened, and is more on par with western rifle length of pull. Guess I have another variation to look for
I am hoping you do the 7.35 carcano, if you can get/make the unoptamium ammo.
Not sure I’d call it unobtanium. Original surplus ammo is around, and a couple smaller companies sell it
37:19 as a man with a bit of a belly, not much of a butt, and a job that requires a large amount of movement, i can confirm that suspenders are a life altering experience.
Holy cow, you read my comment!
Recoil on this thing looked miniscule.
Advice on books/info on Bodeo revolver production? Anything new your friend found or should I stick to your bodeo video sources?
Yeah, Pettinelli's book is the best one around as for now. Sadly, only in Italian but the Google Translate mobile app is your friend.
Ballistol saved my marriage!
Sorry, not walnut. Its Beech wood. Some folks who don't want to admit they use inferior wood call it "select hardwood".
beautiful lily
32:30 A Mannlicher- Mauser in 7 mm
I wonder if the prototypes still survive.
👍👍👍👍👍👍!!!
