Good Morning! Ok, thank you for that information. I’m planning to put the items in the dehydrator today. Do you dehydrate the lemons too? I was thinking it could be something like Thera-flu?
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead I don't use any citrus. But whatever you use will taste the same as the liquid when dried. I also haven't yet used herbs. I may try adding rosemary next time since it's also a pain reliever as is turmeric. I use the honey as a chaser when taking the elixir mixed in water because it taste terrible 😣. And I use the honey to sweeten when making tea out of both the liquid & the powder. You get to ingest the powder though 😉
You can 100% add honey before and/or after starting the fire cider brew. Honey is antibacterial and so is vinegar. You are perfectly fine. I add honey before and after. I’ve been making tinctures for over a decade. If you have any questions, LMK.
Our ancestors (depending how far back you are going) used mason jars late 19th and early 20th centuries! Even before, they were able to preserve foods (dehydrate, dry, root cellars) which still work today. Then again, the best way to enjoy the fruits of our labors (herbs included) is to use them in our foods on a daily basis! Love your videos!
I agree, I speaking more of the fancier things that complicate the process today. I didn’t fully articulate my thought lol. Absolutely, thank you for the comment. Thank you, I appreciate the support!
Quick tip from someone who loves thrifting to sanitize baskets: I just give them a quick wash with a sponge, dish soap and a little bleach (or alcohol if you’re worried about color) and let them dry out fully (ideally a sunny spot in the backyard, but a garage, bathroom or spare room works great too!) They totally retain their shape and come out nice and clean so I can use comfortably for anything! Love your channel! You are a wonderful gardener, mother and homemaker who honors God! ❤ May he bless you.
Hey Hey Asia! You are speaking my language right now. I’ve been wanting to grow my own pharmacy for years now. Like you, I’m in the beginning stages. Keep sharing! ❤
Hey Asia, don't throw the substrate inside the mushroom box away. It still has living mushrooms in it, put it inside a clear, thick plastic with a tiny bit of water, seal the top with tape or something to keep the moisture in it, slice a few x's anywhere on the bag, place it where you had the original box and you'll get more mushrooms 😊. You can keep doing that but you'll have to add new substrate to feed it. Because it will eventually eat all the nutrients from the original. ❤
Honey helps with fermentation and also offers the benefits if you use raw honey. I made it for the first time this year as well. It’s my second day taking a shot before I eat or drink anything in the morning. Woke my digestive tract up RIGHT NOW. I didn’t use horse radish. I will next time I make it. I put a sliced orange in mine. I’ve seen variations with herbs and other fruits. I’ll adjust it as I keep making. So far it’s been worth the experience. I ended up with a full quart of liquid so I have a way to go before I need to make more
Yay fire cider! I know what you mean about how little you get. I did 2 - 1/2 gallon mason jars this year. We’ve started taking it but I haven’t strained it yet even though it’s been over 6 weeks now. I love the idea to make the non-liquid ingredients into a powder. I’m going to freeze dry it!! I tend not to strain my tinctures because I feel like they just get more potent over time but that’s a good use of the materials.
If you can't find a good strainer any time soon, an 'old fashioned' way is to place your herbs in a very clean (white) tea towel and twist! Our ancestors used what was at hand. *You've got strong hands Asia! (Watch those nails!)🧤
A suggestion... since you still have your original yellow door, why not paint it yellow again and keep it in the garden? Maybe around the chickens or behind your table and chairs.... Just a suggestion :).
omgggg!!!!!! yesssss they do!! when I wasnt eating meat at the beginning of the year I used oyster mushrooms as a substitute.. They took/take on the texture and flavour of chicken for me and it was soooo good! I look forward to doing that again Lord willing the beginning of 2025!
Check out firecider recipes. I use it for dressings and marinades. I make 4 quarts at a time. When it is finished, I separate some and add elderberries and leave them for an additional 4 weeks, then strain.
You made some good oils and fire cider also you grown some good mushrooms as well. Delicious coffee you made even though I don’t drink coffee. Thanks for sharing this video.
Good morning my beautiful sister. All Praises To The Most High. I'm glad You're making tinctures. I just ordered an infusion machine to try it that way. I'm here for the accent!!! LoL
Good Morning! I’m enjoying it so much. Can’t wait to see the effects. O yay! That’s exciting. I hope you enjoy it. I’ve seen them recently, let me know how you like it. Lol that’s so funny. You said that last week and I started trying to hear my accent.
Hi Asia! I'm so excited that you are getting into herbal remedies, home apothecary, etc. I've wanted to dabble in this for so long now and I can't wait to see how it goes. Thanks for sharing your journey! Angela
Goodmorning! Love you I saw on, gardening show, forgot the name, but he is very good. He said you can use you leaves also on your ; ROSESSTA BUSH along with the flowers. Sure I'm not spelling correctly. But, I will clarify. The bush/plants with the beautiful burgundy red buds, you harvest.
My fire cider has so much fire it can't be used by itself. I add 2 tablespoons to a large cup of hot water then I add a honey ginger citron (gooey) blend - usually a rounded tablespoon. Did I mention my cup is really large lol? I order the honey ginger citron online
It’s so nice to see you excited about what you’re doing! So proud for you! I’ve been wanting to make tinctures and stuff too. I’m going to try it finally!
I’m excited you tried that… we actually wrapped my husband toe with the leaves then just put a sock on his foot overnight he did that a couple nights. It really works. 😂
Hi 👋🏾! O yes, I know it is very good for you. My confusion was because almost everyone I watched added it after letting it sit. Do you know if it actually matters or why it’s not added at that the point of creation?
i put in 50 bulbs in then are weather has been strange mine started to grow up out of the dirt so i have no idea if i will get any in spring will see then.
Fresh rosemary 100 proof vodka or 80 proof. Fill the jar don't pack it. Add vodka to the top. Label it. Put in a cool dark place 8 to 10 weeks. Compliments from sheisofthewoods.
Hi! Just added some leaves to the jar and covered with 100 proof vodka and put it in the back of my cabinet. I strained it way too early because I wasn’t paying attention to the date. I still plan to use it and just start another one.
"Our" ancestors most certainly did use glass jars, pottery, wooden and brass utensils to prepare medicine, food, etc. Mesh bags or cloths to strain herbs which were made from hemp, jute or cotton. They didn't live a microwave society like we do today. Things simple, slow and methodical that yielded an abundance of good results. Many herbs can be found in the Bible along with the Book of Herbs of Noah ...
I agree I was speaking more about some of the fancy things that complicate the process today. May not have articulated that thought all the way through lol.
yes dry it and powder it I freeze dried mine and it is good for so many thing even in cooking thers nothing wrong with it but you just don't have the benefits of the mother
I noticed you have several books if you would suggest one book which one would you recommend? I am wanting to make tinctures and oils as well❤ love watching your videos
Good morning Asia. When I make fire cider, I dehydrate the solids, powder them & use as tea adding honey as sweetener. Double the product, no waste.

Do you have Roselle seeds? If so I would love to have some. 😊 I absolutely love ❤️ your channels.
Good morning Asia, first one here 🙋♀️😊
Good Morning!! O yay!!
❤
Honey has a lot of medicinal properties, including anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, wound healing, cough, relief…
Hi 👋🏾! O yes, I know it is very good for you. My confusion was because almost everyone I watched added it after letting it sit. Do you know if it actually matters or why it’s not added at that the point of creation?
My sister just introduced me to your channel - yay! Do you grow your own herbs that you are using for your tinctures, oils, etc.
i put in 50 bulbs in then are weather has been strange mine started to grow up out of the dirt so i have no idea if i will get any in spring will see then.
Mine normally sprout before spring b/c of our weather too. I think you’ll a harvest. I always do! Good luck and happy growing!
There are plastic caps I see others use for this.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll look into finding some.
Hi Asia, how did you make your Rosemary tincture?
Fresh rosemary 100 proof vodka or 80 proof. Fill the jar don't pack it. Add vodka to the top. Label it. Put in a cool dark place 8 to 10 weeks. Compliments from sheisofthewoods.
Only need to use couple of drops in a shot class. Use and adjust to your needs.
Hi! Just added some leaves to the jar and covered with 100 proof vodka and put it in the back of my cabinet. I strained it way too early because I wasn’t paying attention to the date. I still plan to use it and just start another one.
🌻🏡🥰
✊🏾😎
🤗🤗
i did fir cider and have hard time taking it even with organic raw honey
It does have a pretty strong taste. Totally understandable!
Hi! Garlic is not that great for us. Organic Elderberry is great for making the immune system impenetrable. 🥰😃
I ordered the book you recommended for herbal medicine and one by Barbara o' Neill for backup ❤
His name is: " Gardening with: James Pigioni.....something like that. But, I will repost comment correctly asap!
Love James Pigioni! He is growing a lot of food!

LOL, yeah a few people thought that!
I noticed you have several books if you would suggest one book which one would you recommend? I am wanting to make tinctures and oils as well❤ love watching your videos
I like the Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine the most. This is the first book I go to!
