Hey Shawn! Happy to hear they helped you out 👍 I will admit sometimes my way of explaining things isn’t the easiest to grasp. Which parts were hard to understand? Maybe I can help clarify what was unclear. Thanks for watching!
Shawn Chen Chords are typically made up of 3 notes, however they do not have to be 1 3 5. 1 3 5 are the numbers coinciding with the notes in the major scale and happen to make up a major chord. Nice video but why is ghost notes needed if logic doesn’t let you draw out of key when it’s quantized ? Do people just want ghost notes for a visual guide?
@@itstonyholiday absolutely! Loved the video! I’m really glad to have learned that logic will prevent you from drawing out of key when quantized That’s clutch. thanks a ton.
@Tony Holiday no prob. Can you create any chords you want to with this method. For example, if I hear certain chords in my head and want to map them out in the piano roll?
Thank you man! Really happy to hear that they're helpful for people starting out, I try to cover content that were questions I had when I started. Appreciate the comment and good luck!
Could you show us how to get some acoustic finger picking guitar chords in because we see a piano roll and guitar chords are different. It would be really helpful if you could do a video for it.
@@itstonyholiday Yes exactly. I have been trying to find it on youtube but no luck. I wanted to understand how to get this done on a piano roll. For instance: If I want the A, D and G stings to be picked together, How do I do it? and If I want to move between frets, How do I do it?
@@sherinstanley8976 Mmm yea that would be a good idea for a video. The best way to do it is to make a chord on the guitar, take note of the order of the notes and then do that in the piano roll. I've gotten some pretty good sounding fake guitars in tracks by doing this method.
@@itstonyholiday I did try it before. But it sounds weird. I think I am misisng out somewhere. And If I need it in the 7th or 8th fret, I am not sure of how to do it then. If you do find a way of doing it please do let me know. ☺️
@@sherinstanley8976 This is where you need to change octaves, if you're on higher strings, they're going to be higher in the piano roll. It will also never sound as good as a real guitar
Noob here. Can anyone tell the reason as to why I can't continue my chord progression after the 1st one. Around the 3:32 mark of the video. It won't let me add more bars after the 3rd loop beat (i think thats what its called)
Depending on the genre the bassline usually just follows the chords. A quick trick would be to take the bottom note of the chord, put it down an octave or two and use that as the bass notes. However, be mindful that with chord inversions, a lot of the time the lowest note isn’t the “1” note of the chord. The rhythm of the bass can change to fit the track, but that’s a good way to get your bassline, or at least start it.
hi, great video, but something not works when i tried to follow the steps. When I add first bar chords ,the followed second doest allows me to mark second chords, what could be the reason?
Yea same for me i cant figure this out. Please drop a comment if you know why? ive tried following step by step and it just wont let select both midi regions without having both the instruments selected.
@@itstonyholiday This should help me, before I used MIDI chord packs and changed them up till they fit with the melody xD . Ik you mainly do beats but try make a full song series from start to finish

that's a great hack, it seems like something so simple Apple could add to Logic to make the experience so much better. Personally I use captain chords though
i was talking to him about it a week ago too. Yeah captain chords aren't really good for learning music theory, I am learning music theory rn and it is huge helps
When I try to highlight my channel that isn't the ghost channel, it ends up highlighting both of them. Why can't I stop this? It seemed so non chalant on your video but cant get it to work on my end
@@itstonyholiday Hello yes, thank you for replying. @ 2:52 you highlighted the software instrument "Piano" and then you proceeded to drag and highlight both midi regions (the other was the ghost channel). When I attempt to highlight both midi regions like you did, it automatically highlights BOTH of the software instruments on the sidebar. I couldn't single out the Piano like you did.

Nice video but why is ghost notes needed if logic doesn’t let you draw out of key when it’s quantized ? Do people just want ghost notes for a visual guide?
Exactly. It’s just a guide for people to visualize where notes to fit together.
Thanks for watching as always!
@@itstonyholiday absolutely! Loved the video! I’m really glad to have learned that logic will prevent you from drawing out of key when quantized That’s clutch. thanks a ton.
Anytime, thanks for always showing support!
The best tutorial I've seen on this.
Thanks for watching! Really appreciate it
@Tony Holiday no prob. Can you create any chords you want to with this method. For example, if I hear certain chords in my head and want to map them out in the piano roll?
@@DialToneTP For sure, just sound it out.
You taught the piano notes so clearly. Thanks you.
Thanks for watching!!
This has changed the game for me thank you so much!! Liked and subscribed 🙌🏿
Thank you!! Appreciate you 🙌
Just found your channel bro and as a new producer your vids have been super helpful to me! Dope content...just gained a subscriber! #TeamLogicPro
Do you mean how to make finger picking guitar in the piano roll?
Can you please come up with a video helping us with the most used shortcut keys/hotkeys as well? That might be really helpful
You're in luck my friend. th-cam.com/video/38Ou869AYYo/w-d-xo.html
Super dope bro! Keep it up
Thanks for watching! Really appreciate it
Superb content, extremely underrated channel. Keep it up, Tony!
Can't tell you how much I appreciate it! Thank you for watching
hey one question . how did you make those notes one octave up? what command did you use? please enlighten.
CMD + A to highlight all. Shift + option + up arrow 👍
Tony Holiday Thanks that was fast. And you look a Hollywood hero 😎
Ha anytime! And that’s hilarious, I am far far from that land 🙌 thank you for watching
That Omnisphere Pad sounded Luscious AF
Omni sounds are mint, just sounds so good
Thank you so much for this! What short Key did you use to flip the notes at the end??
amazing video...ur really helping us out
Really happy to hear you like the content, thanks for watching!
This one definitely helped me. Thanks man 👍🏼💯

Thanks for watching Harish! Much love from 🇨🇦
Thank you for making this video!
Thank you for watching!
You’re awesome I appreciate you sharing your knowledge
Thanks for watching! Really appreciate it
Noob here. Can anyone tell the reason as to why I can't continue my chord progression after the 1st one. Around the 3:32 mark of the video. It won't let me add more bars after the 3rd loop beat (i think thats what its called)
Maybe you have loop on? Press C on your keyboard and see if the yellow bar disappears
Sweet video, this channel is a hidden gem!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate the comment
..that's it Tony. Thank u so much for Super Tip..
Thanks for watching Cem! Glad you found the content helpful
Can you do another video showing how to create basslines for chord pregressions using the ghost method?
Not sure what you mean exactly, how would the ghost notes applications be any different?
@@itstonyholiday adding a bass melody in the same key to go with the chord progression
@@itstonyholiday creating a chord progression and then also adding a bassline melody to go with the chord progressions in the same key
@@itstonyholiday exactly but you can show people how to be creative and making the bassline movement more interesting and doing more
hi, great video, but something not works when i tried to follow the steps. When I add first bar chords ,the followed second doest allows me to mark second chords, what could be the reason?
Interesting... the only thing I can think of is maybe you only made a one bar midi region?
Same exact thing for me, did you ever figure it out????
Yea same for me i cant figure this out. Please drop a comment if you know why? ive tried following step by step and it just wont let select both midi regions without having both the instruments selected.
Thank you bro, such an underrated channel
Damn homie, thank you for the kind words... really happy that people are finding the info helpful. Much love 🙌
@@itstonyholiday This should help me, before I used MIDI chord packs and changed them up till they fit with the melody xD . Ik you mainly do beats but try make a full song series from start to finish
No doubt, I just started making these tutorials about a month ago... mostly from questions that I had when I first started producing. But I want to start getting into full beat making/song streams really soon. I appreciate the feedback, helps my channel get better 👍
Great video man...love the pace of information, especially the hot keys ...I'm in ..i was wondering could you do this kind of video for the new step sequencer ? peace ..
Great idea! I’m still kind of learning it myself but I want to once I master it. Thanks for watching and the comment 👍
Great vid tony. I need your help sometimes when i press down option to copy midi or audio and paste them rather than duplicating it, it will move it. So is there something i'm doing wrong? cuz i don't get it.
Hold down option until you release your left click. Make sure the green "+" is always there.
Thanks for watching, glad you like the content 👍
Tony Holiday thanks 🙏🏽
that's a great hack, it seems like something so simple Apple could add to Logic to make the experience so much better. Personally I use captain chords though
Yea once you get the hotkeys down it's a cheat code for sure. Haven't used Captain Chords myself but I just prefer to learn theory
i was talking to him about it a week ago too. Yeah captain chords aren't really good for learning music theory, I am learning music theory rn and it is huge helps
Your tuts are the best I found so far. Get some more churned out my man!
Thank you!! I’ll admit I’ve been thinking about content too much lately. Need to just take action. Thanks for watching and the comment 🤙
Loved this, very helpful clear and quick
Thank you!! Really appreciate you watching
This video is genious, thanks Tony! Saved me :)
Thank you for watching Maria! Really appreciate the comment
When I try to highlight my channel that isn't the ghost channel, it ends up highlighting both of them. Why can't I stop this? It seemed so non chalant on your video but cant get it to work on my end
Not sure I understand, can you rephrase?
@@itstonyholiday Hello yes, thank you for replying. @ 2:52 you highlighted the software instrument "Piano" and then you proceeded to drag and highlight both midi regions (the other was the ghost channel). When I attempt to highlight both midi regions like you did, it automatically highlights BOTH of the software instruments on the sidebar. I couldn't single out the Piano like you did.
@@ahnafisBEAST Hm not sure why it would do that. I made this video with a previous version of Logic but this still works for me with the current version. Good luck!
@@itstonyholiday it’s alright, thanks for the great videos regardless!
No worries, thanks for watching!
