    UPDATE June 2024:
    I cannot recommend using reWASD anymore as it has become known as a cheating program and is being treated as one by developers. It is being blocked or banned in more and more games lately and it's reputation is now known as a cheating program due to people abusing it to get aim assist on mouse or run anti-recoil scripts etc. I recommend people to move over to Steam input for JoyCon Gyro as that is the more user friendly option. I am leaving this video up in case anyone still wants to use it but I would warn against using it if you play multiplayer games at all. The videos on this channel from now on will not have reWASD configs posted with them as I have stopped using the program.

      Had issues. 😳😳😳 Splatoon 3 on switch works so good for tracking. I was trying the trial of wasd and did your config for vanguard but just in general once I turned it on, the right joycon to aim is just so finicky it barely moves and disconnects like it doesn’t feel like it’s a steady connection of data but like it gets stopped every few seconds it’s so off I guess mine are just bricked or something cause I spent hours trying to tweak the settings myself and it just doesn’t work right

    • @directedinput

      Sorry to hear that, what JoyCon are you using? My Vanguard config uses ratcheting so you have to hold down the X button for the gyro to move so make sure you are doing that

    It's important to say that some BT adapters don't have good refresh rates. I have one here that is terrible (looks like i'm playing at 30FPS or lower) and the other one is amazing. I can play at 144FPS@144Hz in my display and the feel is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, smooth like mouse.

      Hello! Does rewasd register non-controller devices for gyro input? For example, I want to use the WitMotion Bluetooth Gyro for my onexplayer, but I don't know how to turn that data into user input.
      Also, if it can read gyro input, can the gyro input be rebinded to left analog stick instead of right analog/mouse? edit: I saw on your site question 2 was answered. Still curious about the accelerometer

    • @reWASD
      @reWASD 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Chspas Hi there! Hm, reWASD works with physical devices that are currently supported, and can remap gyro for them. So I am not sure that your case is possible. But reWASD has a trial period, and you can test it out :)
      Maybe this will interest you: reWASD offers the UPD protocol for gyro. But this way, you remap your device to a virtual DS4 controller, and gyro data will be passed further to the apps via UDP protocol.
      Gyro input can be remapped to virtual keyboard, mouse or controller mappings, but again, you can do this with a supported controller.

    Just tried out joycons with gyro and love the split style controller way better than the PS4 controller. I wanted to get a third party controller but worry about the quality of the gyro. Do you still recommend Binboks? or is there another brand that might be better right now? Thanks!

      I've tried a ton of JoyCon and I still recommend the Binbok especially now that the firmware fix for bad gyro is available (I see you found the reddit post). They have the best feel for me and the programmable button the back is just really useful. Other than that I would recommend official JoyCon if you want to pay the Nintendo tax!

    dude I gotta say I’ve been enjoying these binboks for the past week and appreciate this video for helping me set them up. The final thing I need to figure out is whether there is some capability in ReWasd to use the back paddles. Since the switch joycons don’t have back paddles there’s no way to map them on the virtual controller. Do you know of any workarounds or will I have to wait until a software update makes this a possibility?

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Unfortunately the back paddles can only be mapped to an existing button on their respective side, reWASD doesn't see them as their own input at all to map. The nice thing about the binboks is the back button is mappable to buttons like + or - which are normally not useful for in-game actions but since you can now use that as the back button you can make it something you use often like jump or crouch, etc.

      @@directedinput hello, tried now some option, after a while it connected and could play re4remake using rewasd emulating a ds4 with gyro, with the controller option in-game. for brand you mean the joycon? those are the original nintendo ones, while the bluetooth dongle on pc should be a 5.0 retrocompatible, i was watching if i can see a 4.1 bluetooth on amazon for max compability, when i aim (even on mouse mode like your video) not always is smooth like loosing signal for fractions, that's the only problem actually. tried with ps4 controller and it's smooth, so i don't know if i can change gyro sensivity on joycon, or need to change the dongle, or the joycon itself

    • @valentds
      @valentds ปีที่แล้ว

      quick edit, i can't change the curve in advanced settings (it's only for mouse and analog after all) but if i change that on analog mode, it rest saved even for the regular gyro, seems a bit better. basically in re4 if you activate the gyro mode in options, gyro is only active when you press "hold your weapon" button, otherwise is not functional.
      however, for a pc desktop you know a dongle bluetooth who works very good with joycons? if i'm sure of that i'll buy one, mine works good with sony controllers but had more difficult to connect and being more stable with joycons

      Yes, if you ungroup you can individually map each Joy-Con's gyro. However I haven't tested it with gyro -> stick input myself, but I have mixed and matched with mouse (on both), mouse + wasd, etc and it worked fine.

      It depends on if those buttons are switch inputs or just hardware buttons to config that controller. If they are switch inputs then you should be able to map them in reWASD. Although reWASD has no mouse to center or any kind of mouse movement macros available.

    • @frankiejramone
      @frankiejramone 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@directedinput I took the leap and bought a Binbok-like joycon(Echtpower). Once I set up gyro with reWASD, the mouse cursor was floaty. It didn't feel like a natural mouse at all. I also used your CP2077 config, and still had the same feeling. Do you find that to be the case, as well? My only other point of reference for gyro is the 8bitdo Pro 2, and going into mouse mode there feels like natural mouse movement. Have you used other gyro controllers and what's the mouse behavior like compared to joycons?

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      By floaty do you mean it was like delayed? Because that isn't the case with mine at all, but I can't speak to the Echtpower Joycon. Most gyro controllers I've tried have felt pretty similar wrt responsiveness, I've tried: JoyCon (official and binbok), Steam Controller, DS4 and Dualsense.
      Is it possible you have the smoothness cranked up in reWASD for gyro? That would cause it to feel floaty and delayed

    • @frankiejramone
      @frankiejramone 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@directedinput It wasn't a delay, more like when you're trying to move to a specific spot, the cursor will get to the vicinity, then start floating in a COMPLETELY RANDOM direction, and I'd have to further correct the movement, and also concentrate hard to keep my hand still. This is more prevalent when the joycons are separated, but it still happens when I connect them with the adapter.
      The smoothness is set to whatever you had for CP2077, which I believe is 10. I've also tried raising and lowering the smoothness to see if that was the culprit, and it wasn't. I tried the same for sensitivity, as well.
      When playing Gridshot in Aim Lab, it's taking over a second for me to hit a target, whereas with a mouse and 8bitdo, my personal best is a little over 500ms. I'm not sure if more practice will allow me to cut the response time in half. How long did it take you to master this from a conventional controller?

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's very strange behavior with it drifting in a random direction. My suspicion is either the gyro is bad or maybe connection issues with bluetooth or wireless signal, have you tried playng with it wired through usb?
      Honestly it did not take me long to get used to it, maybe a few hours but that is because I've been using motion controls for gaming for years and years at this point, before Gyro. You can check the videos on my channel to see before Gyro I was using a Razer Hydra which has the same 'pointer' aiming style so there wasn't much to get used to for me.

    Hey friend. As I had commented in another video of yours, I find it very easy (due to your videos) to create any game configuration in the excellent MotionCreator program for the Razer hydra controller, of which I am a great admirer and which in my opinion was the best control already created for PC gamers who don't have the ability to play with keyboard and mouse.
    But noticing that you, also a former Razer Hydra user, are now using the Joy-cons controls, I felt like buying them and trying them out. But first I would like to know your opinion on two things;
    1) Do joy-cons, as they are bluettoth communication, have the excellent motion capture sensitivity (close to 100%) that the Razer Hydra has?
    2) Considering motion capture as the main feature of the controller, would "reWASD" be the best software or would there be others (regardless of configuration complexity) to enable the use of joy-cons controls on the PC?

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Bluetooth connection can vary based on the distance to the receiver and which receiver you use. The ASUS receiver in this video is the one I use and I find it to be very good with regards to sensitivity and responsiveness, but I can't say for sure if it will work with everyone's individual setup.
      As for the software, reWASD is the way to go in my view. It's just so easy to set up and make configs for, and is very user friendly. They are also regularly updating it and provide support on their discord so it's nice to have an 'active' software in development as opposed to the Motioncreator which has been abandoned for a long time.
      Hope that helps!

      It won't work like a lightgun, but if MAME accepts mouse input to emulate lightguns then you could make the gyro act like a mouse which is what I do in this video and then it should work

This method is some form of Titan One device which I recently paid for. My question is can you use different controllers on different game consoles or just the Nintendo Switch. If this is true then this is exactly like Titan One minus the program cord. Love the Titan One by the way. This program is awesome as well if it multi platform like Titan One.

    • @directedinput

      Ratcheting means to use a button as your method of camera centering, in my case I use the top face button to enable the movement. So I hold it to look around then release it when I want to recenter without mvoement, some people do the opposite and use it to disable.

    hello! is it possible to calibrate the gyroscope so that it can sense the edges of the screen? im using YAW but when i point off the screen the gyro becomes out of alignment with the pointer.

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As far as I know reWASD doesn't do any kind of 'edge of screen' calculations with it's mouse control, which unfortunately means there is no 'center mouse' command. They have said that they plan to add that in the future though so maybe they will also get edge detection since you need one to get the other.
      I will add though that I think if you are using the gyro as a pointer as in pointing it at a screen to control the cursor, it will always end up out of alignment with the cursor because of gyro drift. That is why the Wii used an IR sensor to keep it aligned when you pointed at the screen, so it is better to just use it in a relative way and not as if it is a laser pointer to the screen.

    • @enersha
      @enersha 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@directedinput so are there any settings you can recommend to at least minimize the alignment issue? if you can avoid hitting the edges of the screen somehow then you can reduce most of the misalignment. also this probably isnt an issue on the switch so it must be possible but I'm not sure

      Sorry I don't know how you would get it working with no ratcheting at all unless you wanted to emulate an analog stick and not a mouse. If you want to do that then set your gyro to the 'right stick' so that way it will auto center itself like an analog stick does.
