- The Metrolink 'Antelope Valley Line' is one of the 3 routes that come with Train Sim World 4 which we'll be having a look at in this video. Los Angeles Union Station to Lancaster California runs this nearly 80-mile route featuring Metrolink's F125 and Rotem coach set. We'll start with a look at the rolling stock and then cover the route/map.

I really am glad Metrolink finally got licensed. I recently started an internship with them in their mechanical department (Alstom/Bombadier) and I love it! The Antelope Valley line, Orange County, and Ventura County lines are my favorite. Fun fact you mentioned about the F125s, ours can’t actually go 125mph. I was told we had these geared for 95mph, but i’m sure EMD was looking to get it to 125, but they didn’t do it with ours. We still have a couple F59s running but they are long in the tooth and are mainly operating to replace some of our MP36 locomotives which are being troublemakers at the moment.
I think this has already been said enough but the fact this is a whole new game is unnecessary though. We all know how dovetail works…
A lot of the scenery on this route in the desert portion is slightly innacurate though. I really feel like I’m nitpicking but when I know the route as well as I do it’s hard to not be annoyed at it…There’s a couple videos on TH-cam of Soledad Canyon that will give you a better feel for the place. Desert High Iron and Coaster Fan2105 are the two channels that have popped into my mind for good footage of this route.
That sounds like an awesome internship. Totally agree about the scenery and the trend with recent DTG releases.

Great work. Side note, the Light Rail, is a hybrid high-platform service that is served by the A Line (formerly known as Metro Blue Line) from Long Beach out to Azusa, it operates in Standard Gauge track as well.

Besides the low detail dynamic brake fan, the only other noticeable error I could find on the F125's exterior are the angle of the front windows. For what it is their modelers did a very good job on the NA locomotives this time!

It mostly looks like that because you’re looking at it straight on in the game. In real life you’re a lot shorter so it’s deceiving in the game. It is slightly off but barely noticeable. Very well done model.
The window frames on the front windows are also too light, making the windows appear bigger than they should. The colours overall look way too flat on the 125, as if they had no reflective properties at all.

As someone who rides Metrolink weekly and works in that high rise overlooking Union station, I think they did a decent job with this route. Sure it’s not perfect and could use some work but I think it’s actually pretty decent

Whoa I live in Lancaster CA, am a long time Train Sim fan and had NO IDEA this was going to be a route in TSW4!
I was waiting to see what your thoughts were and if you were going to buy it. I already purchased a week ago but I've been in the same band camp as you with this dovetail crap train of releases recently. Gotta say the 125 sounds really good but I only had time to do the training scenario for it. * Now that I did an hour service, I can say the sounds and the model of the 125 are very good and like you said their visit to Metrolink paid off, albeit the horn sounding a bit weird. I agree with you on the running sounds, they definitely need more depth. The route is definitely upper mid, some things look nice and the vegetation looks a bit better, but the bland ground/gravel textures stand out even more and look so out of place. I'm not sure if I'm that used to AP Sky and Weather but I feel like the AP clouds in TSC look better.
I think personally Run 8 Horizons and sky’s look better

I sure hope to see the other six Metrolink Lines in the future I know they’re working on the San Bernardino line should be here by Summer 24 & what’s the third US route along with AV & SB. Also what about the licensing for the LA Metro A Blue Line track & station is present just need the actual train will it come in the future?
The K2s on the Hyundai cab cars sound very accurate, but it’s a bit more scratchy that it should be. And no I don’t know why the f125 horns sound bad
Also the F125s have backup K3L Canadian Tuned horns, dunno if DTG included that
About the K3, it’s just on 929 and 926, rest of them have another K2 on the roof as a backup.

There is a switch on the back panel for backup horn and it actually changes the horn. But idk what horn it is though

I think you hit it on the head when you said the horn sounds mono. Yeah, it probably is correct, but no fidelity. I live a couple miles from train tracks and experience much more sound from my backyard.
At 21:00 the real locomotive has kind of a plasticy look as well so its not too far off lol.

@@daviddryden8088 Haha, all jokes aside the route would definitely benefit from some trash and things strewn around the tracks and area. Usually when they try to make areas look "perfect" it takes away from the realism since it looks too clean.
U can put the marker lights on you have to get out of the train and go to the end of the train and look for the marker lights from there all trains have them

I don't know how it obtained the License Train Sim World 4 since at the time they launched the Route from Los Angeles to San Diego it did not obtain the Metrolink and Coaster License. to Railworks
Things always change. In tsc, they said no. In tsw, it took some time but now it's here b/c metrolink decided to say yes. Probably saw some benefits in being in tsw. Sometimes tocs say no at first, but will eventually turn around and say yes. Thameslink did not want to be in either game, but it came eventually. Same with bnsf going global.
I can handle all the imperfections, it's DTG, but no good sounding horn and no AI using wipers in the rain pisses me off. Those things should be fixed ASAP!!!
I feel like there are two sounds playing when the train is under power and moving. Probably traction motor noise and diesel locomotive noise. I feel like the diesel engine is proportionally too quiet. Also I do feel like the interior is really plasticy looking. Everything is accurate, but it feels wrong.
Models for the stations look pretty good, if not expertly shaded. I ride this line from la to Burbank airport every day

I bought TSW 1 when it first came out to PS4, but I sold the console in 2019 before the release of TSW 2. Now we’re on TSW 4 and I still wonder what would happen if I bought a PS4 again, like, would TSW 1 still be playable or what?

A relatively new player in TSW here. My question is about the older content. Will it automatically update to the new game, or at least let us install it manually for free? Or do I have to buy all of my stuff again?

K2HAs (the horns the f125s use) are quiet in real life on purpose because people complain 5 chimes are too loud. The horns themselves are just shrill sounding shits

Hello I bought the deluxe edition for ps5. In the early access I was unable to access to the routes or and any of the DLC comes with it nor my tsw3 DLC. As to date I was only able to access the tutorial scenario. To me this was false advertising . Really disappointed with DTG. I have emailed them regarding this matter and currently awaiting DTG respond.
Legacy content comes on the 26th. Dtg have advertised this multiple times before. It was the same situation with tsw3

I would have liked to see a Bombardier Cab Car with the EMD F59PH or the EMD F59PHI as I knew that Passenger Train through Images and Videos And not like Rotem or EMD F125 hideous Train, maybe they will release the old version in the Future with Bombardier And EMD F59PH or EMD F59PHI
Probably cuz the f125 is more abundant compared to the f59ph and therefore runs more regular service. The phi are retired and were sold to another operator that dtg don't have a license to.
@@potatoman451 we still have the F59PHI on property but unfortunately we can’t use them. Same with all but 5 of our F59PH. There’s papers out there looking to donate a few but they are basically parts sources, unfortunately couldn’t sell to another operator. Nobody wants them

F125s are kinda crap irl, sometimes I see them breaking down, so much so, Metrolink has brought out old F59PHRs from retirement to supplement them
I work in the shop as an intern and I can tell you 100% that this foamer myth you are trying to spread about the F125s is just that, a myth. They are great units, we love them, the board is trying to get us funding for 20 more. The MP36s on the other hand are terrible…my main job is to work inventory on parts and not only do those units rip through traction motors, coolant valves, sensors, etc, MPI won’t ship us the parts for them either. We were forced to fix the F59s up because several of the 36s (I think 4) have been deemed totaled. It’s not the F125s folks, quit making us look bad as you aren’t helping our ridership by spreading this foamer misinformation

@@threepea1151 I wasn’t trying to be rude it’s just frankly annoying seeing people spread information that they do not know jack about. Yes, things break, that happens with everything, even the F59s, we actually have 852 in the shop for repairs right now and just released 856 back into service yesterday afternoon. it’s not F125 specific. The reason you might think the F125s break down the most is because we run 40 of them. 75 percent or so of our trains are powered by them and so it only makes sense from a statistical standpoint they would be the most common to see being fixed. The cool thing is that the F125s its usually just some sensor that flips and so we replace the sensor and it’s good to go again in a matter of hours. I think i’ve only seen a few heavy duty repairs on them in my time here. Usually it’s an MP36 or F59 we have to shop for heavy duty stuff.
The coaster SC-44s are not being acquired by us as far as i know. The agency looked into it yes but it seems they don’t want orphaned units and would rather wait for funding to get brand new power. Training mechanics for the SC-44s would probably be a pain plus then we’d have to know the insides and outs of 4 types of locomotive. That turns into a nightmare fast.
This isn’t confirmed but I heard Coaster was unable to find buyer for those units and thus they are now off-market. One of the units that was for sale (NCTC 5008) apparently fractured a crankshaft already so it maybe was a good thing Metrolink steered away from those units, I don’t have experience with Siemens stuff though and neither do my coworkers so God only knows
@@Brienjim2346 Ohhhhh ok that answers a lot. I just heard from people that the f125s have the same problems the sc44s have with cracked axles in winter time. I knew for a fact that mp36s were quite bad as ive seen wayyyyyy too many in the Taylor yard shop

That's how I looked at it. $52 bucks for three routes, the vectron and the scottsman. If I looked at it any other way I would have to slap myself. Its a shame they put us in such a catch 22. Where we don't want to support their management decisions and how the game has been going lately, but at the same time wanting to play the new content because we love trains or were excited about x or y.

I can already tell the physics are the same god awful mess that they always have been. Going up a 1.5% grade with 100% dynamics and the speed is barely moving...you'd be throwing people out of their seats.
The physics do feel a bit wonky, but I'm not a conductor so what do I know. Also do you mean going down a grade? lol but I have noticed that too on some older routes. Would have the dynamics pinned without barely any deceleration with a light train.

I gotta say after staring at some f125s recently the trucks in tsw4 look. not great.
So basically their reasons for needing to make it a whole new game are completely bogus. I’m done with TSW. Hopefully SimRail add their CP route in the near future.

I'm disappointed in that these new routes do not have the AI use windshield wipers during rain. Did anyone notice on this route? If you want to picky about realism this is annoying.
I haven't noticed that but thats funny. I do remember when they released NY-Trenton and all the AI would be operating with their pantographs down, that bugged the hell out of me haha. Don't know how the hell that was allowed to release in that state.

Hmmmmmm so I personally don't care about the horns and which routes they pick and horses and all of that. Nobody seems to be talking about the gameplay. The graphics always look good. The game play sucksssssss. Do you see all of that pausing every 2 seconds?? This game is NOT optimized. It's getting worst TO ME. Not buying anything else from these people. I'll stick with TSW3. TsW is just what TSC was for the last decade: copy and paste with a new year added to the front and claiming it as "all new!" Why fix the broken game when you can just rerelease the broken game with a new title to sound like its a new broken game? I keep saying it, but I really can't believe people still pay for anything from DTG.
For me, there's no other good train sim that fits my needs lol.
Simrail barely has singleplayer content and tutorials and no save game. I have zero interest towards multiplayer or dispatching
Tsc is limited content wise and it can get real expensive really quickly. Creating scenarios is also time consuming.
Derail valley isn't my cup of tea. I don't like the gameplay.
Drs being more fictional but the key bindings are awkward.
Other train sims are just too hardcore for me. I bought hmmsin metro and 1 video based train sim, but I no longer play because it was too stressful for me. Zusi is way too hardcore for me
@@potatoman451 I agree Dave, I have a similar viewpoint to you on the other train games. DTG does offer one of the easiest games to just hop in and enjoy a train and they do a good job on most things. @StampedTomcat50 I would actually rather have them do it like TSC, where the core title gets updated instead of releasing a new game. I do agree we shouldn't have core features be locked behind a paywall though.
Do not buy TSW 4. Wait for TSW 5 that will be launched in a couple of months 😂
