    Have been living in Houston, TX since '17 and not once ever seen a Jeep drive by with any Aux lights lit on the public road. Even some who are packed up the wazoo. These guys respect the road. Much props.
    I recently got my Jeep and im learning a lot of this culture. Very awesome.

    In Colorado it's illegal to turn them on while driving down a hardball road....and you can fined for every individual led light bulb

    part of my commute is 8 miles through the heart of a deer amusement park, often at 430am, witch i think is when all the deer bars close. Im getting a wrangler in a month or so, and the very first thing im doing is some electrical work. Couple A pillar lights aimed slightly wide to see the side of the road better, better headlights and the biggest and best lightbar i can find for the bumper.

    A good rule of thumb is to have all of your lights on an "instant kill" switch. Usually this is your high beam circuit on your vehicle. Just remember to use relays so you don't blow a high beam fuse or two.

    In my area in Oxnard Santa Barbara Thousand Oaks etc. Southern California, everyone has full tints and a lot of people have lights mounted and uncovered, but usually not running, so those laws don’t seem to be in enforced.

    I know here in the state of Maine you can't run light bars on public roadways but Walmart carries a dimmable LED light bar it's from Alpena would that be legal to use on the road if it's in the dim mode. would it still be illegal?

    • @horsepoweraddiction808
      @horsepoweraddiction808 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the law says you can not have them then none of any kind including dim one can be used. But read the law carefully

    I have 5 KC 6x9 lights on roof bar of my 91 suburban. Unfortunately the 2 of plastic covers is cracked and brittle. How could I go about purchasing cover's dot. Won't let me pass inspection till the lights get corrected.

  • @mammutMK2
    @mammutMK2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The cover up isn't bad even when you don't need the covers. You buy the for off read use or bad weather conditions , so why risking them getting damaged and dirty under normal conditions. That way they are in great condition when you need them

    So I was followed by a sheriff in Johnson county Iowa and he was following me quite close to the point I had all rear views down and was still being blinded. Now it was middle of night out in the country where no other lights are present. I pulled off and into driveway to let him pass and he did so I pulled back onto road and that son a bitch was waiting for me on other side of road where as I passed him he followed me again and once again I have to pull off the road into driveway. He FINALLY turned on lights to pull me over for suspicious behavior.. said I was evading him [I was evading his blinding led lamps ] next thing u know Im asked to get out in the freezing cold to perform field sobriety test which I failed as it's near below zero temp I've weighed 135 for 30 years now so I'm shaking chattering being told to keep hands outta of sweater pocket as they are frozen. I had to take off my gloves and coat and remove my hat to do said tests. I failed and got a DUI even after I blew 0.00. WTF this ain't right and I told him why I pulled into 2 driveways he laughed and said those ain't even his brights. HELP.. I'm not really finding anything specific as to law for lumens or output of lights for Iowa. If anyone knows and could please help or if anyone knows good attorney that would be great .

      Cool vid!
      Good advice- Check your local laws! But you MAY want to add:
      CHECK THE LAW WHERE YOU'RE DRIVING!!
      A light may be ok, locally,
      but if you take a road trip to another jurisdiction, maybe not so much!
      And, (depending on the cop)
      he's probably not gonna care that you're 'just passing thru' or 'just running to [xxx] then right back home!'.
      There's MANY vids on here telling people how to install tons of crazy gadgets, and most of them forget to mention that the (whatever) gadget is 1. Illegal, or
      2. Just a REALLY BAD IDEA!!!

    In Florida or in general, is an led light bar street legal if it is in line with your headlights? My grill has an opening that will fit a 12” light bar that will be level with my head lights and I’ll be aiming the light bar slightly down. Is that street legal?

      You need to either have a bumper, bull bar, or a simple bar that connects to the tow points that is designed for lights. Look on Amazon or on google pictures to get ideas. - just thought I would let you know because they didn’t respond to you.

    I see semi trucks with bars or pods mounted on the bumper all the time. Since they travel between many states, I assume that police just don't care about it that much. I don't think a wrangler is going to ignored if it's running roof lights though.

    • @GGarduchi
      @GGarduchi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all the ones I’ve seen on semi’s are crappy truck stop lights or Chinese junk. I haven’t seen any big trucks using a 60” OnX6 bar blinding all.

    This entire issue is a giant mess. There is 90% non-compliance with his extra lighting as regards
    How it is legal to use.
    You don't explain how federal law is failing to limit lighting to originally approved . Even before this all started please weren't routinely stopping people for failure to dim. That compounds the problem.
    Fog light bulbs are being swab for aircraft landing lights and are actually brighter than the headlights.
    It was a joke to begin with to allow low beams to be on when fog lights are on because the low beams defeat the purpose of fog lights when there is actual fog which is almost never.
    Plus the police are pretty much asleep these days as regards vehicular rules enforcement.

  • @4x4gear33

    • @horsepoweraddiction808
      @horsepoweraddiction808 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both people should turn off any auxiliary lights when approaching other drivers. But there’s led light bars a lot brighter than yours so be careful. Plus if you did manage to cause a accident you would most likely go to jail and if someone got hurt prison so be careful

  • @gabmax1013
    @gabmax1013 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    1. Get a dash cam.
    2. If you find someone with led lights at full blast crash into them.
    3. Blame it on the other guy.
    4. Sue him 💵💵💵

    • @horsepoweraddiction808
      @horsepoweraddiction808 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn’t quite work that way. Accidents are judged by a % of fault. So if you did see someone with a super bright light on coming at you then you would be expected to do everything that you can to keep from crashing including pulling over and letting them pass. So it would probably be close to 50/50% fault because they should not have had the lights on and you should have pulled over when you saw the danger.

    I'm not a huge fan of people barfing LED light bars all over their rigs. I have seen a lot of lifted trucks with full lightbars mounted in their front bumper. Is that then legal since its below the headlights? Driving beam cubes sure but whole light bars seems excessive. Differs per state sure and Commiefornia everything is illegal LOL.
