Hope it works out for you, man. The battery is too weak to provide enough power to jumpstart a vehicle when just taken out of the box. Also, you want to make sure you have the correct portable charger for the vehicle you have. The one shown in this video is designed for cars/sedans and will not jumpstart trucks, SUV's or vans, according to what I know. They do sell jump start packs for bigger vehicles.

Hi there I really appreciate the video. I had a question. I am trying to charge it using a extension cord and plugged in an outlet in my house. I'm getting a maintaining battery light. It never switches to charging battery. Is that indicator only for the DC charger in the front? With it plugged in i can push the battery test and it lights up. But unplugging the ext from the back. Shows it dead. Any advice?
That is not normal for the battery to do that. When plugged in, "Maintaining battey" means it's fully charged and is just maintaining the charge. If not, it means there's either a fault in the indicator lights or the battery itself is completely defective. If you had recently bought it, return it or exchange it for another one. If you've bought it a long time ago and it's beyond exchangeable, you can try testing the battery yourself by seeing if it jump starts a vehicle or by hooking up something to the 12v outlet on the battery pack to see if the output power remains consistent. For example, you could hook up a 12v airbed pump or something else with a 12v adapter that will plug into the powepack. If what you hooked up remains powered for long periods of time, the battery pack itself is good and it's just faulty lights, if not, the battery pack itself is defective.
From my experience, it really makes no difference which cable is connected/disconnected with this power pack, mainly because the cables are connected when it's off and when the car is off.

When the battery gets depleted, the lights will turn off one by one. There's one red light, one yellow and two green lights. If all are illuminating, it means the battery is fully charged. When the battery depletes, the lights will go off one by one until only the red is illuminating, which indicates the battery is very low.
I have one of these and have used it before so I know I'm doing it right. The pack is fully charged. When I try to start my car it just clicks or does nothing. The battery is only 2 years old. I haven't been driving it much lately, though, because I'm mostly staying home.
If the pack will not jump start your battery, it's a sign your battery is dead and needs replaced. This jump start pack was designed to only jump start weak batteries. It will not jump start a dead battery. Leaving the jump start pack connected to your battery will not do any charging.
How much does this thing weigh? I have a similar unit that I kept plugged in over night but still doesn't show a charge. It's so light I wondered if there even is a power pack inside it. The power pack weighs around 10lbs. If you just bought it or bought it within the last 90 days, you should be able to return or exchange it. To charge it, you just need a regular three prong cord. Make sure the outlet you're plugging into is working correctly. When battery is charged, you should see all the lights on the small battery test light illuminate when you press down on it. For a battery pack, it does not matter at all which one is removed first, especially given the fact the battery pack is turned to off. That only applies to jumpstart cables that are hooked up to two vehicles which is removed in a particular way in order to prevent damage or injury.
There is no need to do disconnect anything. If you are referring to the battery pack itself, it does not matter which order you disconnect it from my experience.
Really cool, thanks for sharing tips on this charger. I too was a bit confused as to why it shows fully charged yet reads "charge before use" on the box lol
The battery test status light is for the jumper pack itself. It shows what charge it's at. When pushing it, it will show red green and yellow bars. If all bars are lit, it means the battery is fully charged. The bars will turn off as the battery depletes. When it's on it's last two bars, it's recommended that you charge the jump pack as it may not pull enough power to jump start a weak battery.
Sorry for horribly late reply. The lights will go out as the battery depletes, but will turn on as it's charging. The red maintaining battery light just means the battery is fully charged. It's nothing of concern.
You *should* wait at least 1 minutes to allow a lead-based jump starter (or another car) to dump some power into your dead battery before trying to start your car. After jump starting dozens of vehicles over decades, the biggest problem you will face is people that refuse to wait before cranking their engine. As soon as you hook up a jump box or booster cables, they will begin cranking and cranking, which constantly uses up the energy trying to drain into their dead battery before it can store up enough to start the car. You are trying to pour energy back into the dead battery through a long cable that restricts the flow or a jump box with less true cranking amps than a full-size battery, so *WAIT* a minute or two for the dead battery "bucket" to partly fill before cranking. Different rules apply to lithium-based jump packs as they only give you a few seconds of power before cutting off so with those you should hook them up, turn them on, and immediately try to start the car. They also operate at 16V when fully charged, so they are entirely different than traditional 12V lead-acid jump boxes and must be treated differently.

I bought it from O'Reilly's about 2 months ago.. I put it in the back in the box until an emergency happened never used... The day before yesterday I got my car and the battery was dead.. I was in a super hurry so I just called AARP because I had never used the power pack before... I decided I better bring it in and see what's going on with the battery and see if it has been self discharging just sitting there and used... The red charging light has been red for 3 days now.. the managing charger has never come up is it supposed to be yellow and there's a red light supposed to turn yellow? The other row of lights is red yellow green green.. none of these lights have changed in 3 days it's way over 36 hours or even 48 hours... I don't have the receipt to take it back to O'Reilly's.. I'm sure the sale is probably in their computer... I called customer service a super start power pack company and he says it would take 36 hours but the lights have not changed... My car periodically does this and I have been unable to pinpoint it that's why I bought this product.. I want to put it back in my car because I'm running out of AARP roadside service for the year... Is the red charging light supposed to turn yellow.. is a managing light supposed to be yellow... Are the four lights in a row all supposed to be green...
The four lights you are talking about are supposed to stay the colors they are. When the battery depletes, those lights will go out one by one until down to the last one. All that is, is an indicator to tell you the charge left in your battery. The maintaining light comes on when the battery is fully charged and is still plugged into the wall. All it means is that there is power going to the battery and that it's maintaining the charge from that power. That light will NOT turn yellow. It stays red. If you store that battery somewhere for long periods of time, it can slowly lose it's charge. My best advice is to charge the battery for 24 hours once every month or two just to keep a charge in it for when emergencies come up. From what you described, there's nothing wrong with your battery.
Thank you so much you're a doll... I'm glad I asked you I did go down to O'Reilly's today and they did give me a new one.. I understand what you mean about the yellow light I knew it was supposed to come on.. the guy at O'Reilly's said that there is no yellow light that will come on... But hr gave me a new one anyway with no receipt and he was cool about it and I'm glad I did.. the one I had the yellow light never came on for three days... the new one came on within three or four hours...so there was something going on with the initial one I bought.. Your cool cat thank you..
On a power pack it makes ZERO difference on which is disconnected first. The order in which I shown is just the way I did it, but people are free to do it in whichever order they feel like. Heck, switch it up and do it in a different order each time just for the fun of it. That's how much it does not matter. The order only matters when using jumper cables from vehicle to vehicle.

@@lindataggart2087 You're welcome! That's cool of them to give you a new one like that. Hope that one works better for you. Have a good one.

Dude, thanks for the video, but you didn’t a few things wrong. You didn’t read the Owners manual. Okay, still thanks.
Your engine needs a good cleanup
First disconect the negative
On a power pack it makes ZERO difference on which is disconnected first. The order in which I shown is just the way I did it, but people are free to do it in whichever order they feel like. Heck, switch it up and do it in a different order each time just for the fun of it. That's how much it does not matter. The order only matters when using jumper cables from vehicle to vehicle.
Thanks for video, got this one, use 3 times and died.. not recharging battery, don’t buy.
