    I am eagerly awaiting for mine to arrive. I have been getting more and more excited to play this one as it gets closer to arrival. From the cool euro mechanics of the game (engine building/work placement/resource management) to a theme that hits a special place for me, this game just looks like one i will be playing for years to come.

      @keep_on_harpin8267 I had high expectations for this game as well, and now that I’ve played it a few times I’m pleased to say that I’m loving it! I expect to still be playing this many years from now 😆

    Happily, the retail version of the game also ended up getting the double-layers boards (but not the fancy markers for the tracks, just five cubes). This is one time I kind of regret not backing for the deluxe stuff - the mini expansions are really cool (I think they may be selling an upgrade set later, but they aren't yet). As for the your extra discs and impact markers - just leave them with the player pieces. Discs and impact markers are unlimited with the suggestion that if you do need extras (unlikely, but technically possible) to use something else, so having one more of each isn't an issue at all.

      @quadparty Excellent suggestion about the extra discs and impact markers, thank you! I didn't realize at the time that they were not piece limited.
      That's nice that everyone received the double-layered player mats--that's a decent functional upgrade.
      As for the mini-expansions, I do think they're cool and I'm glad to have them, but there appears to be plenty of content included anyway. I think the base game will keep me occupied for quite some time =)

      @@table_for_one I have played someone's deluxe copy, and my suggestion would be: don't think of the mini-expansions as expansion content. Just add the tiles to the depth stacks in every game - even when introducing a new player.

      @quadparty Yes, that’s what I’ve been doing so far in my solo plays, and the expansions integrate pretty seamlessly. You’ve got the right idea!

    I am looking for an unboxing of the retail version. All unboxing videos are about the deluxe version.

      @robvanwijngaarden I don't have a retail version to unbox, but I can at least tell you what the differences are! The retail version is the same as the deluxe version with the following exceptions:
      -no storage systems
      -no 5th player (aqua color, plus the Sky tile which supports a 5-player game)
      -no mini-expansions (Orca reintroduction; Underwave academy; and Wanderer dock)
      -no screen-printing on vessels, discs, and impact markers
      -all vessels are the same shape (instead of different shapes for each player)
      -track markers are wooden cubes (instead of being shaped as the track icons)
      -no wooden first-player token (cardboard punchout is included in both versions)
      -the retail version (at least the first printing) INCLUDES dual-layer player mats (that was supposed to be deluxe only, but a happy accident made them available to all). Not sure if this will change in future printings.
      -Presumably the box weighs slightly less (not that it's heavy to begin with). Not sure if the box dimensions are different or not.
      The mini-expansions are the only thing that really impacts gameplay. Having them, I would always want to use them; but if I didn't have them, I would still enjoy this game. If you have a 5-person gaming group, the fifth player components would obviously be important too. I hope this is a helpful response, and happy gaming!
      EDIT: If you want to see the mini-expansions in action, I managed to use all three of them in my playthrough of Maps & Charts:

    Well done. I am excited to open mine and learn how to play! I loved Age of Sail but only wanted the Deluxe and it was never available. The co-op part of this has me hopeful that my wife will play it with me.

      @jonsparks3152 I've played this solo twice now since unboxing it the other night (losing once and winning once), and I think this is definitely playable by "non-gamers" (an admittedly muddy term). I took my time reading through the rulebook to make sure I fully understood it, but now that I know how to play I think I could teach it very quickly. Looking forward to trying it co-op/competitive myself!

    Do you like the material they used for the gametrayz? Would you like to see it used in future projects say th enext voidfall galactic box reprint?

    • @table_for_one
      @table_for_one  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @stormburns Yes, I do like this material and I think it will hold up well. The Voidfall Galactic Box is an interesting question, because there are so many more (and heavier) components on top of the tray, I wonder if the bagasse might get crushed. I think it would at least be worth it for the publisher to test it out, and if it holds up then I would definitely recommend using it, yeah

    Do sleeved cards fit? It seems a tight fit

    • @table_for_one
      @table_for_one  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @stevenvanheuverzwijn596 I've decided not to sleeve this game (at least not yet, maybe I'll change my mind later), because the cards are barely handled at all. I did read on BGG that other people have used premium sleeves and that they do fit in the box--I just haven't done it myself.

    where is the solo playthrough? :_( too busy weight lifting voidfall?

    • @table_for_one
      @table_for_one  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @stormburns Haha the playthrough is coming. I had to play a few games off-camera first to learn it (and it's fantastic!) and then I've just been slammed this week with some personal things. But I will definitely get some E:DS playthroughs up, because this is an awesome game!

    25:48 I’d suggest turning, swiveling, the green box to face the interior of the box. Otherwise those ‘two teeth/nooks’ are going to get damaged.

    • @table_for_one
      @table_for_one  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @stevegeorge7773 I played around with this for a minute, but the greenish/aqua token tray doesn't have room to swivel, the depth is too great. I'm not too worried about it for myself because I'm generally pretty careful, but if it does get damaged at least it's not a gameplay component.
