Hmm… I don’t really like how floaty the characters, including the huge monsters, move around and how light the attacks feel. Even heavy attacks that could literally split the ground open just lack the force and impact - like there’s no weight behind them. Combats, while looking very flashy and entertaining, also feel rather unsatisfying. Heck, at times it kinda feels like an MMO combat - which is not always a bad thing, but I’d like more interaction and feedback similar to Monster Hunter (of course I’m gonna have to compare it to MonHun). The monsters, honestly, look pretty unimaginative. I mean they look “nice” but definitely nothing new and intriguing. Monsters in Toukiden sure look more interesting and memorable - even if they’re just a re-imagination of classic youkai. But what I’ve seen so far in Wild Hearts are an ice wolf with tentacles, a big flower rat and a fire monkeh. There’s also that big mountain monster in the beginning that looks interesting but hey, it’s not that impressive when you’ve already seen the like of Dalamadur and Zorah Magdaros. But the game looks like it plays well and certainly keeps in the style of Omega Force, so that’s fine. It’s just that I have to look and judge it form the MonHun perspective, so that’s my thought on it.
Voiced out every gripe I had for this game, not to mention how some of the monster animation is so unpolished, it feels and looks clunky to be honest. And for me personally they lack personality, and like you said the design is basically rat+tree, wolf+ice, tiger+vines, racoon+bush, bear+mountain, like I draw for a living and I honestly can do better with these design concepts. I mean just look at Anjanaths design in monster hunter, it's simply a t-rex with a vultures features but just the way they designed and the way it attacks adds so much charm and personality to it as a creature. Still I might buy it if there won't be any severe issues on launch.
@thefabix5815 ikr, i think it's the bias with some of these comments. Like Rajang (my personal fav monster ever btw) is monkey + horns, wolf + scales, ice dragon, metal dragon, can't even tell what nergigante is behind all the thorns, just a hedgehog+dragon looking thing. One thing for sure is when a lot of the monsters came out in the previous titles they were pretty damn original such as Teostra, khezu, tigrex, gore magala, nargacuga, i guess rathalos/ian are capcoms own design of dragons which is pretty cool, etc. Point is even MH has some lacking designs
Is it just me, or both Deahtstalker and Lavaback have very basic movesets? Like, they seem to spam 1 big AoE and do couple more other attacks, and that's it. I get that when TDS wrecks monsters in MH they don't get to act either, but is there a big difference if you're not a speedrunner?
As a veteran monster hunter player all the way back to PSP games, I'd say I had a fun time playing the demo. The combat is new although most weapons and gameplay felt pretty similar to monster hunter, the building part while hunting the monsters was a pretty dope experience. I wouldn't say its worth $70 but definitely on the 40-60$ price range. At the end of the day, I still prefer the monster hunter series nothing will beat it.
You could always spam traps in MHW each person could carry 2 and craft another 2, then there were paralyze knife, sleep ammo, clutch claw to wall bang, sticky ammo, hammers and great swords could chain stun a monster. If u watch any of MHW speed runs u will release that there has always been ways to make the game super easy. Heck alatreon speed run is 2mins... a fight that wrecks even skilled players. They are busted, the majority of monsters don't even have a move pool to fight long distance hunters so you can do damage permanently in a very safe way.
i did worry about the amount of traps useable but i suppose you dont have a palamute/palico to aid the hunt so that makes up for it. think il read some reviews before i go for it but its good to see the genre get the attention it deserves. monster hunters are always gonna be the main course but some tasty starters are always welcome.
Yes, you have a companion if you play solo and it's a bit broken, it can deploy a huge healing mist that makes you practically invincible during a huge amount of time but playing with three people will always be even easier, you can perma stun kemonos with the structures

No they don't have any, it's like the clutch claw from mhwi, you fall if you receive damage, at least enough damage, that's why they use control traps, to spam it.
@@daviddelapazgil7274 but clutch claw or grabbing into monster in mhwi drain you stamina tho and once you out of stamina and down your character is vulnerable, but in those gameplay above you can grab into monster whitout any consequences i guess except maybe getting damage, i mean it would be nice if player given a thing to exploit but at the same time the monster have a mechanism to resist the same exploit overtime
Now that's some good nodachi gameplay ! Saw another gameplay of it yesterday but the weapons looked bad, there's some genuine combo here, not just charge after charge.
I also observed that the monster's attack patterns are all over the place and the music doesn't integrate any rhythm in relation to it, certainly one big redeeming factor taken out from a supposed "hunting game" .
The monsters that I have seen, even in trailers, seem to act a lot like the giant final boss monsters of the recent MH games. That is they just kind of randomly attack and are basically big punching bags. It's fine for MH, because these few monsters are very large and it is mostly a cinematic fight, but for a whole game to be this way is pretty uninspired.
@@toxic_vader3 the multiplayer of this game it's broken, you can have any monster perma stunned with the karakuri crafting and a big hitting weapon, it's not a matter of skill and it is easier to dominate the gameplay of the weapons because they are very simple compared with MH, still a enjoyable game, I'm having fun with it
Y’all act like they both can’t exist together. You can like both or you can like one or the other. As a huge fan of MH since I played Tri on the wii I can say that I enjoy both for what they are. It also wouldn’t hurt for Mh to have some competition. I hope Wildhearts gets updates/patches and sequels so it can improve over time just like mh did while making both games work harder and give us the fans an even better experience.
This is TDS. The kemono are already hearing boss music. They look like they're not putting up much of a fight. Why? Because TDS . Nice speedrun, y'all.
Same. MH speed runs, where traps are being spammed are kind of lame. At least spamming traps in MH is optional. But in this game you are kind of forced to use the building mechanic. Yet, they could just use buildings that deal damage, instead of buildings that constrain the monster's movements.
Karakurki system is the bread and butter for the combat. If you try to play Wild Hearts as Monster Hunter then you will basically have a difficult time throughout the game. Majority of the monsters in WH are like Rajang on crack 90% of the fight without karakuri
You guys need to actually play the game, the comments I’m seeing in this comment section are insane. You cannot spam traps without an optimal build and people seem to forget these are speedrunners… on top of that the s in this game are 10x more forgiving then mhw and you can most definitely defeat kemono without karakuri… Especially the claw blade, bow, cannon, and bladed wagasa
The game looks increadibly rough for a title that is supposed to come out in 2 days as of this comment being written. The monster's visuals are nice, but unfortunately, everything else looks like shit. The audio effects sound like they cost about three fiddy for a pack of 50, and i'm fairly certain i've already heard that wolf howl before. The attacks of the monster look uninspired and underwhelming, the entire flow of combat sems like "now watch us Fortnite up some war machines and stunlock this pooch till he's dead lol" (Yes i know that they are SPEEDRUNNERS, I have watched their previous videos, I know that this is what they do, make the fight look easy, CHILL YOUR BEANS). Overall, this seems like another typical EA cashgrab, them seeing MH having made big numbers across all platforms, and deciding that they definitely want a piece of that cake. 3/10, maybe get in once it's on a 70% sale on Steam, otherwise a safe skip.
As someone who plays almost all of the MH clones, i say you guys should give it a try. All the "MH this MH that" is starting to get annoying. Especially from world newcomers. Play the f'ing game if you want. If not just shut the f'ing up. First rise, now this.
I hate that people put off the game when it hasn’t come out. basing it of a mh perspective is fine but when your nitpicking ever little thing and just putting it off as a clone when mh is literally a genre of games. Just because it’s not mh doesn’t automatically mean it’s trying to ride the coattails of world and rise when the company koei tecmo and omega force have made toukiden. some people just compare the monsters when they don’t even look similar like golden tempest was being compared to shara because he has tendrils or saying why even have building mechanics when it’s trying to be different that’s a problem I wouldn’t say anything until you played the game yourself and make your own opinions about the game.
One little detail I appreciate is the respect at the end. You are killing a beautiful creature, the very least you could do is make sure the final blow is clean and show respect to it.

Nice video. Game looks cool, but I have my doubts about it. I kinda have the first impression that the building of big structures that hinder the monster should be toned down. Looks like it kinda takes away from the core gameplay instead of supporting it.

At my store we already got copies of Wildeart in. We just have to wait for the release date to put them out. But even some of my co-workers, being that we all played monster hunter through the years. Are having a heavy debate on if to get wildhearts. I know I'm going to get and play, because I want to try something new from MH, but then it reminds me of MH so it might be similar in some aspects... So I don't know were in for ride. I'm just keeping an open mind. Game looks great and awesome job on the speed run.
The issue with trap spamming is that is free for the player, no crafting or resources needed (at least it appears so to me) and most importantly the monster doesn't adapt and learn to free itself quickly or destroy them and on top of that the monster is stationary most of the time
Maybe this is entry level monster..so a bit ez n can spam trap...who knows theres an elder dragon level where u cant do certain stuff like using trap for example..maybe
You do need resources for all building. This is a speed run they are geared higher you would be for this monster and have full mats. Also they haven’t shown any of the end game upgraded monsters yet. (No one has)
I see most people missing my main point, even if traps need resources with enough hoarding/gathering they can be spammed, my main concern is the monster looks defenseless against them, the monster needs a way to deal with traps or other gadgets. Limited use, longer cool downs after a number of uses or make the mon immune to them or better have the mon punishes you for using them or something.
don't know how it feels to play but as a spectator i can say something feels off. many little things for example the text popping up on your screen at 1:08 is very intrusive. the sliding, especially uphill just looks weird. 2:23 the climbing animation is awful. it just doesn't feel like the game is polished enough. edit: have to mention the attack at 3:48 which barely looks like an attack. it's as if the dog is just catching it's breath. monster attacks should be easily distinguishable so you don't feel like something invisible hit you.
That "charge" sheath mode is taking so long just to deal 200-ish damage when he can spam light/heavy combo and deal more than that. For a sluggish weapon you'd expect it to be satisfying when it hits, especially when you charge it up that long.
You're supposed to slash while in sheath mode to charge it super fast as it adds charge bar per hit, takes like 2 verticals and 1 horizontal to go from 0-100%
The fact you can spew traps after traps after traps is a bit... well... I'm not liking the Fortnite building vibe of the game and traps looks OP with either very high damage or long control... But, I like the level design, being able to fight inside a castle ruin, like inside big room or in place that look relatively realistic is nice.
Yeah, I agreed the Fortnite aspect of it really kills things for me. It's within that part of game design that makes it not easily viewable by the average person. "How did he pull that thing up? Why did he grab that glowing orb off of its butt? What did grabbing that orb even do?"
As a very skilled player in MHWI and rise . . . I can understand the comments and concerns ppl have. However plz remember that you could have always bring traps in MH and craft able to make more traps, smoke powder, paralyze knives, poisons bombs, flash bombs and if u wanted super easy mode just bring a bow gun with stickies ammo and u could chain KO even temper elder dragons. Heck even or Palico could help I'm saying this to remind ppl that there were always ways to make the hunts easier, also remember that TDS always use some of the most efficient ways to hunt doesn't mean the average player can use it or will use them.
@@jawcrusher2229 I can guarantee of why people hate the buildings and traps is because they are not realistic enough. they probably dont like the idea of summoning a tower out of sudden
@@gendengraven5049 I can understand that. I didn't like the idea of spawning random stuff in the hunt either I thought it killed the immersion of the game flow 🤔 but then I realise based on the world and the story of the game it is the games flow its part of the monsters, the world and its a part your character as well. But I can see why ppl would dislike it. What I do think is a bit unfair is watching expert speed runners who are well Coordinated and always finding efficient way to kill the monster and ppl see that and say the game is super easy.
The monster doesn't seem to have much personality. It looks like it would be similar to odogaron, like a fast attacker, but instead it just spams aoes. I rlly hope it's only this monster that's like this.
Honestly i wish mhw had this level of visual elemental epicness like ice slowly starting to cover a massive area on the ground before it bursts out. I'm talking more epic than the velkhana stuff. Hope the new mh does.
I see comments like it doesnt look refined or deathstalker looks slow or the music is off or the tracking looks weird. The deathstalker fight is incredible. Just like monster hunter, you have to play the game to get why its fun
Video game logic is frankly sometimes a bit silly. Especially when dropping to the seat of your trousers repeatedly somehow makes you go faster than running, when in fact doing so would be a great way to stop your momentum immediately 99% of the time.
Because this is Toukiden. They just changed the name to get more people on it since Toukiden didn't get a lot of traction. It is the same team that made Toukiden
So from this video and others I have seen on the game: There just doesn't seem to much depth to the combat. That monster feels less detailed and less fleshed out than even a bird wyvern in MH, with less mechanics and with less character. This sword is literally like 5 moves that, at least from watching, don't seem to be satisfying, compared to how for example a Great Sword feels in MH (keep in mind the GS basically has the same number of moves, yet because of how you must read and react to the monster it feels incredible it play.) Also the building just seems awkward and spammy. Also, since this is a speed run, it looks like it will be the most optimal way to play. Honestly if this is on game pass for Xbox I will try it for myself, but unless there are changes or great reviews flying out when it releases it looks like I will not be touching it. It's a shame really, as when this was first announced I was excited for a competitor to MH. I do hope I am wrong but so far I'm confident I am not.
I see you latch on to the monster. So the game isn't fully MH clone but more like the bastard child of MH and Dragon's Dogma or is it just a niche mechanic of the game?
I don't know what it is about this game but it just looks off to me. The ambience and area effect elements just look meh, like they are too transparent or something. Everything seems to have a floaty look about it in the gameplay I have seen so far. It looks like it could be a cool/fun game to play but the effects and overall polish just seems off in a way I cant really put my finger on. Great video Darkside as always, and hopefully it's just the processing through uploading this content to youtube that effects how this game looks because I was really looking forward to this one!
I don't see or feel the hype on this ...the monster design not so bad but the pattern attack from that monster did not make me scare... Even sometime I fight nargacuga I still scare to go around him ...this game map not that bad too.. just the gameplay maybe..
The greatsword is a nodachi, which is what they are using here. It’s a bit built down the tree so it’s a bit slimmer than the default design obv to the monster parts its upgraded from

Tbf it's the first game that could get patched later, compare this to MHFU with trap spam and the Darkness Lance
The final blows is a pretty cool system
As a veteran monster hunter player all the way back to PSP games, I'd say I had a fun time playing the demo. The combat is new although most weapons and gameplay felt pretty similar to monster hunter, the building part while hunting the monsters was a pretty dope experience. I wouldn't say its worth $70 but definitely on the 40-60$ price range. At the end of the day, I still prefer the monster hunter series nothing will beat it.
I think building should be a little more limited. Spamming traps is OP.

Yes, you have a companion if you play solo and it's a bit broken, it can deploy a huge healing mist that makes you practically invincible during a huge amount of time but playing with three people will always be even easier, you can perma stun kemonos with the structures

Didn't see a lot of dodging, feels like the monster has horrible tracking and attack choice
Dude had the monster pinned and trapped most that fight he’s a beast at this genre for the normal person going in our hunts won’t look like this
@@toxic_vader3 the multiplayer of this game it's broken, you can have any monster perma stunned with the karakuri crafting and a big hitting weapon, it's not a matter of skill and it is easier to dominate the gameplay of the weapons because they are very simple compared with MH, still a enjoyable game, I'm having fun with it

Nice speedrun, y'all.
would love to see a speed run with lesser traps and just more on using the weapon
Same. MH speed runs, where traps are being spammed are kind of lame. At least spamming traps in MH is optional. But in this game you are kind of forced to use the building mechanic. Yet, they could just use buildings that deal damage, instead of buildings that constrain the monster's movements.
I've played a bit. Traps are part of the game play loop. I don't use them as much as these guys, but they are somewhat needed.
Karakurki system is the bread and butter for the combat. If you try to play Wild Hearts as Monster Hunter then you will basically have a difficult time throughout the game. Majority of the monsters in WH are like Rajang on crack 90% of the fight without karakuri
@@whitecoffee05 couldn't have said it any better
You guys need to actually play the game, the comments I’m seeing in this comment section are insane. You cannot spam traps without an optimal build and people seem to forget these are speedrunners… on top of that the s in this game are 10x more forgiving then mhw and you can most definitely defeat kemono without karakuri… Especially the claw blade, bow, cannon, and bladed wagasa
I will say one thing about this game, the Asian culture inspired spirit realm esc environments are genuinely beautiful to look at.
The icedoggo either stands still for a long ass time and then turns into an uncatchable speed demon when it finally decided to get off its ass
Great duo speedrun strat. Nice showcase.
Meh, the game doesn't look as fun as it did in the trailers, idk, maybe some other monsters are gonna be better. Great video tho.

There's limit how much you can set up. You can fill the resource to make trap by grabbing the string from the monster body
You do need resources for all building. This is a speed run they are geared higher you would be for this monster and have full mats.
Also they haven’t shown any of the end game upgraded monsters yet. (No one has)
You do need resources lol
I see most people missing my main point, even if traps need resources with enough hoarding/gathering they can be spammed, my main concern is the monster looks defenseless against them, the monster needs a way to deal with traps or other gadgets.
Limited use, longer cool downs after a number of uses or make the mon immune to them or better have the mon punishes you for using them or something.
A part of me wants to buy this just to cause MH to actually have competition and get higher quality MH games
don't know how it feels to play but as a spectator i can say something feels off. many little things for example the text popping up on your screen at 1:08 is very intrusive. the sliding, especially uphill just looks weird.
Idk man, it looks like the monster ain't monstering enough here.
But, I like the level design, being able to fight inside a castle ruin, like inside big room or in place that look relatively realistic is nice.
at least they tried lol, still looks garbo compared to monster hunter though
Heck even or Palico could help
I'm saying this to remind ppl that there were always ways to make the hunts easier, also remember that TDS always use some of the most efficient ways to hunt doesn't mean the average player can use it or will use them.
@@jawcrusher2229 I can guarantee of why people hate the buildings and traps is because they are not realistic enough. they probably dont like the idea of summoning a tower out of sudden
@@gendengraven5049 I can understand that. But I can see why ppl would dislike it.
What I do think is a bit unfair is watching expert speed runners who are well Coordinated and always finding efficient way to kill the monster and ppl see that and say the game is super easy.
Nice to see that you two phased it :)
Game looks cool but the monster A.I seems braindead and this hunt time is way too long considering the monster is almost perma stunlocked

The music in the background is fire
I see comments like it doesnt look refined or deathstalker looks slow or the music is off or the tracking looks weird. The deathstalker fight is incredible. Just like monster hunter, you have to play the game to get why its fun
Video game logic is frankly sometimes a bit silly. Especially when dropping to the seat of your trousers repeatedly somehow makes you go faster than running, when in fact doing so would be a great way to stop your momentum immediately 99% of the time.

So from this video and others I have seen on the game:
There just doesn't seem to much depth to the combat.
That monster feels less detailed and less fleshed out than even a bird wyvern in MH, with less mechanics and with less character.
This sword is literally like 5 moves that, at least from watching, don't seem to be satisfying, compared to how for example a Great Sword feels in MH (keep in mind the GS basically has the same number of moves, yet because of how you must read and react to the monster it feels incredible it play.)
Also the building just seems awkward and spammy.
Looks fairly promising.
I see you latch on to the monster. So the game isn't fully MH clone but more like the bastard child of MH and Dragon's Dogma or is it just a niche mechanic of the game?

Everything seems to have a floaty look about it in the gameplay I have seen so far. It looks like it could be a cool/fun game to play but the effects and overall polish just seems off in a way I cant really put my finger on.
