  • I thought I'd do a review of the new Ronin 0.015" pick set from Lawlock Tools. I've been using the set for a couple of weeks now and it's quickly turned into a firm favourite with more than a few naughty bucket evictions so far! 👍🏻

    Nice to see a review from someone who's spent a bit of time giving the Picks a good workout. Glad to see you spotted the shortened long end on the Prybars. Like you say, it makes them more stable in American 1100 paddocks (and a number of others).
    Good feedback regarding the ridiculous deep hook 😊, hopefully you'll see it in the near future.
    It's also worth noting Andy's now selling the Ronin Picks individually.

      Yeah, they've certainly been earning their keep. The set has given multiple long-term NB lurkers the boot as well 😁👍🏻

    Great review Darren cheers mate 👍 well spotted on the shortened pry bar ends. Don't think anyone else noticed that. It was probably Tipenes idea in all fairness. So too is the deeper hook. I will probably ditch one of the similar profiles and upgrade the set to include a new deep hook. Tipene has sent me a really good example he calls the sabre tooth. Watch this space and thanks again 👍👍

    Looks like a fantastic set, great to see all hooks too👌 I love LLT picks especially the pro and good to see them in 15 thou, definitely have to pick up this set or individually. The new 1.5mm TOK tensioner looks like a great addition too as I only have the old ones too.
    Thanks for sharing this awesome set from LLT😀✌️

    Man I wished I wasn’t so hard on picks😂. Honestly I’m down to one hook in .18 and .15😂. Need to get some hooks again in all thicknesses . I guess next month I’ll have to make an order for them shorter tensioners and a handful of picks. Thanks for ur reviews. Really enjoy ur channel as always.

      I can be a bit brutal on my thicker picks too, especially when bullying a lock for the open. These ones do require a lighter touch for sure 😁👍🏻

    I don't have any Law Lock Tools kit yet. I have the SSDeV standard and 15 thousandths sets but I rarely use them. One thing I do find is their smaller overall size, and in fact the smaller size of most of my Sparrows picks, subconsciously seems to encourage me to use less force. It's as if they're fragile, delicate and that I need to take care. As someone with smaller hands, I could see myself over-stressing LLT picks (particularly in 15 thousandths) just because their size may encourage me to use more force and lever the pins too aggressively. That'd be a fault of the picker rather than the pick, of course.
    Your experience with the reach profiles was interesting. I've not used mine for a while but I found myself using a Mad Bob full reach all the time, mostly in locks where they'd be inappropriate. There's something about them that looks fragile (again coming back to the problem of heavy use) but they can potentially take more abuse than they deserve. That surprised me.

      I think that hand size, shape and grip style will really influence your pick handle choice. When I started it was mainly peterson picks I saw recommended on yt videos, but in my hands they felt like toys! I needed the longer handle. Thanks for watching and your interesting comments 👍🏻

    Good review. I'm definitely short on the .015 side of things and this may be a good option for me. And although I've no experience with Lawlock they've been on my radar for a while.

    Very nice review! A bit out of budget for me 🙂. I am currently working on a vid about my picks and the "struggle" to find the one(s) that fit me best. Maybe have some tips in that regard that could help me? I am currently ping ponging between Sparrows and Peterson.

    • @Dmaclocksport
      @Dmaclocksport  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. I think it's trial and error. I'd recommend buying a single pick from all the big manufacturers to compare. As soon as I tried lawlock I found my 'fit' but had tried sparrows, peterson, dangerfield and a few cheap picks first

    • @SadisticPicker
      @SadisticPicker ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both them are good brands. Really I think it’s all ur own preference. As far as profiles go. You will make ur favorites, and narrow ur personal favorites to a handful of pics. I’m huge fan of deforest and the gem, but find I use the deep hook in .18 and short hook in .23 the most. Though again I sure do like a few other profiles. And to be fair some profiles just work better with certain locks. Hell I’ve busted a few locks with half diamond or other profiles ya wouldn’t have imagined to work at first. So I do think a good selection is handy. Though I am partial to a deep and medium hook🤷🏼. Oh and sorry to but in on ur question Dmac😝😜

      @@toddlofthouse8383 ah, I misunderstood you. I did play with the plug and pins only, and was able to lift all pins to shear without oversetting the pins infront using a few of the ronin profiles. I hope this means it will be pickable, and I'm up to 4 pins currently. It could be true, however, that I lack the skill to pick it! 😁 Still, I'll have fun trying
