This was an eye opener for me. When I look at all the machines running in the production line, it explains the prices. And this is without all the previous development stages. It certainly explains the prices. Suddenly, they don't seem to be expensive any longer. Btw, the video quality was also perfect. Thank you for all the hard work.

The only thing they are missing is laser engraved labels on the picks so you can tell how thick and know the profile name
Yes I agree and i will do this eventually. It just adds a lot of extra time and labour to the process without a little automation 😉

Amazing to see the process of making those picks
How powerful is that laser - it cuts so quickly? What is the maximum thickness that can cut?
The spot welding is so good as well.
The only thing that I don't like is your electric bill for that lot.

It can cut upto 6mm stainless and 10mm mild steel. I only cut stainless tho and 301 is different than the regular 304/316. Yes it uses a lot of electricity as does the nitrogen system to make the gas used during cutting. Thanks for watching 👍

I love my Ridgeback set. This video really shows the effort that goes into producing the picks and other tools you make. I do metal work as a hobby and for parts of my job. So I had an idea of the procedures you used to make your tools. But this video goes a long way to educate people about what it takes to do full production of “simple pick tools”.

It's interesting to see how you produce your tools. I'm assuming thaf this is a one man operation, your are to be apluaded for taking "that gamble", those machines couldn't have been cheep! Two questions if I may, can you put the laser off cuts to good use and what's in the tumbler, or is that a trade secret? Keep up the good work, I hope the business continues to go from strength to strength. 👍🤞
Thanks for watching and yes I do everything myself. From design to manufacturing to order picking and posting! Not enough hours in the day. Yes I sell the 301 offcuts to custom pick makes on the website. As much as possible anyway. The rest is scrap. I have 2 tumblers actually and will try and show more in the next videos. That's the small one I usually only use it for smaller items. It has a mixture of ceramic and porcelain media with a liquid polishing compound but that's too secret so don't tell anyone 😁👍
