Hi Nick. Well well well - that's my old boat! Hull number 201, built 2008 but a 2009 model year. It was my second squadron 58 -I liked them so much I bought two!. It was exhibited at Southampton boat show 2008 just as Lehmans was crashing and I bought it there and then for a great price, and ran it for two years in Antibes before swapping for a Squadron 78. It's second owner kep it in Beaulieu near Monaco, then it was sold and spent many years in Ibiza. It came back to the UK for this refit a few months ago. A lot of the original upgrades were done by me (the utility room with separate washing machine, tumble drier, fold down pullman bed, Tecma loo are all my upgrades. That guard around the hob/cooktop to stop the pans falling off was made on forward
...continuing. ... made on my milling machine and lathe. This boat also had the fiurst ever set of Lumishore lights - 4 lights made in the Lumishore founder's kitchen, and the boat is still pictured on their website in some pictures we took in France in summer 2009. Anyway, fast forward to 2021 - what a superb refit these guys have done. Really really impressive work - so nice to see. Changing the wall fabrics is really difficult but these guys must be the best in the business - this work is just superb - many congratulations to them and so nice to see my old wheels brought up to such a great standard. I must take a walk by in next few weeks
Yeah, that's a great space that's rarely in these sizes of yachts now. It is, however, the first I've seen with a day head in it too... makes even better use of the space!
@@WillowGTI The upswing of NOT having a mid-ship full beam is two decent guest cabins and the utility room. Whilst I agree I adore those vast master cabins I do suspect the day-in day-out functionality of a utility room would be more useful.
Someone has had a great deal of good taste in this restoration. The interior design looks classy and ageless and the craftsmanship looks great. The mix of new and original is seamless. A great tour of an excellent find. Thanks again Nick!
Well its definately scrubbed up well, a lovely boat really nice. I liked the sunken galley area and secret laundry room abit like Jim Davidsons boat brilliant. Thanks Nick a great tour.
The secret laundry room is way better than Jim's - this squadron utility room is a single bed cabin as well as laundry and storage. Has window, WC, aircon, etc
Jim Davidson was on the other week saying your best bet was a slightly older boat you spend a bit more to modernise. If you choose a refurb company like this to do your boat he's not wrong.
Goes to show you that if the lines of the hull are perfect, with a little bit of help on the inside boats can be timeless. From afar, most people wouldn't know this boat was 13 years old (and how much has changed in those 13 years). Thanks for showing us!
Second Chance Yachts - where the refit surpasses the original. Or - all errors finally corrected. Either way this is an impressive yacht. So glad you've shown us other Squadrons so we've got some good comparisons. This is and has been since my first encounter - my favorite yacht. Thanks Nick and thanks to the refitters as well. All jobs well done here.
That's a very well-done refurb. Very subtle how they have introduced modern fabrics and matched them to the original woodwork. Thanks for a great tour.
Excellent job refitting a classic/older boat. I’m really into The Who retro-refit movement. I think you end up with a really nice product at a competitive price. Plus, there is more room for customization.
I prefer this interior to the newer boats. Such a nice blend. The original blonde woodwork is gorgeous. Really comfortable and modern without feeling pretentious
Hi, the refit lifts the boat to another level and saves the new owners , the trouble of sorting the work out them selves . Great video nick and nice to see older boats being put to good use .
Fantastic. I love Fairline’s of this era, they have a certain ‘swoopiness’ with such lovely curves, this update has bought it right up to date. The only thing that belies it’s age is the crane for a tender. Beautifully done, lovely looking boat with all modern conveniences. Love the sunken galley and lootility. Want it!
Some nice craftsmanship.. One of a few Top10 Yachts; My favorite English Boats on the list is a Sunseeker 68 Sport Fly and Predator 74 Sport Fly. Both with a bit of Timeless Design .....
When you look at the before pics it shows how far boat design and decor has come over just 13 years. They've done a stunning refurb job on a grand old lady of the sea. Good for another 15/20 years or so.
Such a pleasure to see these tours....and this is a fabulous boat. I love it! 58ft isn't small, but they sure did utilise all of the available room...that utility room was clever, and the lounge and galley both look superb. Love that internal staircase up to the flying bridge...how come we never see you never climb up those? Love what you do Nick...it's always a thrill to see a new video has been uploaded.
One of my favourites, I love seeing older yachts have a makeover and bring them up to date. Also get a lot more yacht for your money... Definitely something I'd do if I had the money to buy one.
Love the layout of the older Fairline Squadron boats with the utility room in them. Seeing this one being brought back up to date by Setag is just fantastic. Thanks for this tour Nick the finished product looks great 👍🏻
Squadrons and Manhattans are my favorite yachts but this is the first that Ive seen a refurbished Squadron and for me it's a dream! Excellent tour, Nick. Ive said it before and my opinion hasn't changed. You are the best at what you do. Thank you, sir.
What a really well done upgrade to a lovely boat. It looks really contemporary. I usually don’t like the older boats but this shows how well designed and made they were in the first place. Nice one Nick.
They've done a brilliant job, the interior looks even better than how it was originally designed. I like the greyish accents, much better looking and it gives some kind of contrast. Very nice boat.
For a boat built in 2008, the original colors were right out of the 1970s! Fantastic restoration/refit! Usually I prefer leather over textile for furniture, but they really made it work in the salon and staterooms. Well done, Setag!
I utilize the "if you take care of it all along, it takes care of you" - but thankfully there is a company out there who will step in and take care of it for you. That was a serious transition from pale and stale to bright and fresh. Thank you!
Like so many others, I love this little makeover video! Keeping so much of the old and mixing in a bunch of the new has turned this into one gorgeous piece. So much of the original boat was beautiful but they were right to want refurbish some and update others. It was a great blend without going overboard. Thank you for sharing!
I just really favor the layout of that era much better with the sunken kitchen and utility room. I also like the fact that there is the interior stairwell going up to the flybridge...(which you did not point out from inside or from up above). Overall, what a magnificent tour, once again, by the great Nick of Aquaholic. Well done, Mate!!
The Fairline Factory can learn a lot from this. Great refit, better way better then it was new. That’s often the problem with older Fairline ships. Worn out quick. They cost a lot of money, so you can expect quality in craftsmanship and material. I had to do with our Fairline an expensive refit too. This squadron is a beautiful peace of art , well done. Great video, good moderation through it. Aquaholic like we like. 😀👍
Interesting to watch the transition from boats with fairly utilitarian interiors to this. It's not just the changes in look, it's the availability of a huge range of new and upgraded materials and the involvement of interior designers. You only have to look at the curtains in the master cabin before and after to see how things have changed. You're right Nick, a boat well worth taking a look through and the refit has brought it right up to date.
Love how this is coming along, the layout of the old squadron 58 was my favorite because of the two large booth areas, but you could tell that the boat was made a long time ago. Great to see people modernizing older yachts!
... loving the size and interior lay-out of this beauty :-) And the refit really makes her look very contemporary. Visualizing myself spending all summer on her, pottering around the Med :-)
Just love this one... and knew you would open the utility in the Kitchen..... what an amazing updated boat.... getting back to it now as ony up to the kitchen LOL.. just shows us what we can do to modernise an older boat Nick....
As I’ve said before Nick, this is an excellent way to get into boat ownership! Buying a slightly older vessel & then refitting it to a modern standard & of course your own taste. The Squadron 58 is a magnificent boat, just about the perfect size! 😃👋🏻
Good work, enhanced by the fact that design wise, I prefer this era of Motor yachts to the current crop! Engine bay needs attention though.... couldn't put up with scruffy mechanicals personally.
Beautiful job by Setag. Great walkthrough, Nick. I’m sure the owner will be more than delighted with the standard of the work; I know I would be! Best wishes from the Wirral.
A great transformation tastefully done. Also great to feature such companies on your channel as I am sure there is a demand for this type of work on 'already owned' older boats and also as part of a purchase consideration.
This looks great - lovely layout too and I love the little utility room and day head layout. Great for storage of that all-important amber nectar for longer trips.
And like always thank you Nick for this nice show. They did a really nice refit on this Fairline i hope they do more of them and that you can bring a nice tour of that
I thought that Jim Davidsons new boat was pretty good, but this one is equally as good, I used to go to the Boat Show at Earl's Court many moons ago, you present these boats so well I want to get one and set sail for the sunset 🤗👍
A fine job. I liked it. At 8:02 the main wear on the old seats. Like most cars, is where a person slides in. I think I'd opt for stylish bespoke covers.
So nice to see a Squadron having had the full treatment - a great design and it looks better than new. In fact in terms of some of its design features, now they are in a more contempory setting, I wonder why they were ever changed.

I really like these older Squadron’s. Especially that little extra utility room off the galley.

You can keep that utility room and give me the midships master cabin. ;-)
